Chapter 61 - Third Wheel Who Has No Business Being There

Rong Zian soon stopped on his tracks when he heard Wu Yange yelling, "Where do you think you are going! Come back here!" in an admonishing tone. Left with no choice Rong Zian walked over to the table and sat as far away from both of them as possible. 'This is going to be awkward,' he thought to himself.

Seeing how far Rong Zian was sitting, Wu Yange couldn't stay silent. This isn't the picture he imagined when he decided to have breakfast with his little rabbit, Rong Zian had to be corrected. "Come sit next to me," he said disregarding Zhao Lee who was sitting at the same table.

Rong Zian hesitated but soon made his decision when Wu Yange followed up his sentence saying, "if you don't come over, I will make you sit on my lap. Is that what you want?"

Further across the garden, Wu Fan was sitting on the roof, eating nuts while enjoying the current events unfolding in the garden. It had been a long since he had this much fun so he savoured it immensely. Ying Tie who had been looking for him joined Wu Fan and inquired on what he was doing up on the roof. "I am enjoying some free drama," said Wu Fan pointing at the three people sitting at the table.

Ying Tie chuckled as tossed some nuts into his mouth, "Oh that, I know the prince is head over heels for Rong Zian and Zhao Lee is still taking chances. What's so interesting about that?" replied Ying Tie

Wu Fan laughed and enlightened him, "So you also know, Rong Zian likes the prince?"

Almost choking on nuts, Ying Tie was stunned speechless. He had been punished for actually helping the prince, though he didn't know he was helping them at that time. "That one is in love with that one but that one doesn't know that one also likes him," continued Wu Fan pointing his index finger at the prince and Rong Zian, "and that one is just a third wheel who has no business being there," finally pointing at Zhao Lee.

"How do you know Rong Zian likes the prince?" he asked dusting off the specks of peanut left on his hand.

Wu Fan replied with a sly smile, "I have a keen sense for these things, just like how I know this," he said pointing at himself and Ying Tie, "is going to happen in the near future."

"Yeah, it will when hell freezes over!" yelled Ying Tie jumping off the roof with a flustered face.

"No use fighting it!" said Wu Fan standing up in laughter but he misstepped and came tumbling down the roof. He tightly shut his eyes expecting to land painfully onto the ground but was caught by Ying Tie, falling right into his open arms.

"See I told you this is going to happen," replied Wu Fan gently patting Ying Tie's head.

Again Ying Tie dropped him like a hot potato, scolding Wu Fan who was now on the ground, "You better stay away from me!" before angrily stomping off like his ass was on fire.

"Hey, you are the one who should stay away from me. I was the one minding my own business when you showed up!" yelling after Ying Tie as he rubbed his sore butt.

While Ying Tie and Wu Fan were having their odd moment, things were getting even more interesting at the breakfast table with Zhao Lee bringing up the past nonstop. Not that they had anything else in common to talk about anyway. Rong Zian was about to dig into such greasy aromatic gifts of life as he stretched out his chopsticks to pick whatever he fancied but his hand was suddenly smacked by another pair of chopsticks.

"That's not your food," said Wu Yange with a malicious smirk on his face, "this is yours." A maiden placed the bowl on the table with a brown like porridge that didn't smell palatable in the least. Before Rong Zian could protest, Wu Yange clarified. "I added medicine inside, it will help you get better. You have to eat all of it."

Rong Zian might have had a pained look on his face feeling aggrieved but Zhao Lee was eating a whole gallon of vinegar pissed off at the two of them. She came here to rekindle her relationship with the prince, not to eat dog food. Just when she thought she had seen it all, it got worse.

"Wu Yange, this looks disgusting. How can I eat this?" whined Rong Zian no longer addressing him by his title. That was only the beginning of Zhao Lee's seven stages of anger.

"Come on just try it," said Wu Yange as though trying to coax him.

It worked as Rong Zian finally took a sip but struggled to swallow before complaining again, "It's too bitter. Seriously is this you punishing me for something because this is not qualified for human consumption."

To Zhao Lee's horror Wu Yange took the same porcelain spoon Rong Zian had used and tried the porridge. 'What the hell is this? How can they share utensils just like that,' she screamed in her head, clenching her fist under the table till her fingertips were pale meanwhile maintaining a stiff smile.

Wu Yange gazed at him smiling and replied, "It tastes fine. Finish it so you can put my mind at ease." Rong Zian vowed to pay him back ten times as he forcibly ate the bitter porridge one spoon at a time under Wu Yange's supervision. He was currently struggling with the last spoon when Wu Yange placed his hand on Rong Zian's thigh to encourage him. But what started as an innocent gesture escalated to something else as Wu Yange gently rubbed his thigh.

Rong Zian's face turned bright red and the blush spread across his cheeks suddenly feeling hot. Even a dense person could tell what Wu Yange was doing, Rong Zian had already figured it out last night. 'Fuck! Wu Yange really likes me,' he thought unable to stop himself from smiling.

Zhao Lee could tell something was up with these two but couldn't put her finger on it and pretended to feign ignorance while waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Unable to bear it anymore, Rong Zian removed Wu Yange's hand from his thigh averting his gaze as he swallowed that last of the porridge from hell.

The prince was about to retaliate when a servant came to inform him of the jeweller from the capital's arrival. He excused himself and gave Rong Zian a 'to be continued' expression before heading for the study.

Faced with a kind and smiley Zhao Lee, Rong Zian couldn't help but congratulate her for being different from the other Zhao Lee from the parallel universe. She was quiet, serene and so respectful one would mistake her for an angel but Rong Zian was too naïve. As soon as the prince disappeared, her claws came out almost instantly showing her true colours.

"You are his catamite, aren't you," she said in a harsh tone her face flustered in rage. Rong Zian almost choked on his saliva when her words reached his ear. 'Oh there she is, a green tea bitch will always be a green tea bitch,' he thought shaking his head.

Unwilling to deal with her, Rong Zian stood up to leave but Zhao Lee planned on having her way. "Look at you thinking so highly of yourself. You are just a sex slave meant to take care of his needs whenever he pleases. That's all you are good at, lying down taking whatever he dishes out. So don't expect much because that's all you are worth," she rumbled on and on.
