Chapter 36 Not Willing To Marry Me?

The old madam squinted her eyes and smiled. “Minghuai, who do you want to handle it?”

“If you’re interested, grandmother, it’s up to you,” Gu Minghuai said.

The old madam clapped her hands excitedly, and the three of them had a pleasant afternoon tea.

After sending off elder Mrs. Gu, Ning Shan asked curiously, “Mr. Gu, Why didn’t you let me explain just now?”

“Wouldn’t it be revealed that it was just a lie then?” Gu Minghuai’s expression was calm.

“But Grandmother Gu really plans for us to get engaged. What exactly are you planning?” Ning Shan was a little anxious. “Are we really going to get engaged then?”

Seeing that she was anxious, Gu Minghuai raised his eyebrows and the corners of his mouth curled up coldly. “You’re not willing to marry me?”

Ning Shan was startled, she quickly lowered her head. “This doesn’t seem to be the problem now, right? I’m only pretending to be your fiancée to help you block out those meaningless girls. But if we’re engaged, wouldn’t it be a little troublesome for the two of us to undo that later on…”

Gu Minghuai saw that she was stammering and her expression was uncertain. His sharp brows furrowed. “Ning Shan, are you in love with someone else?”

“Ah? No.” Ningshan was in a daze for a long time, but she still answered.

“No?” Gu Minghuai was acting aggressively as he slowly approached her. The aura around him was cold and oppressive.

Ning Shan hurriedly took two steps back. “I really am not, Mr. Gu. I’m just worried about what’s going to happen next…”

This answer made him heave a sigh of relief, he said straightforwardly, “Since you don’t, then just do as I say. Who said that you have to get married just because you’re engaged? There are many cases of getting an annulment and it isn’t troublesome at all. Unnecessary refusal would make it easier instead for others to see through our actions.”

Ning Shan was surprised. “You sure?”

“Of course.” Gu Minghuai’s lips curled up, and a hint of slyness flashed in his eyes. “You’re worrying too much.”

Preparation for Ning Shan and Gu Minghuai’s engagement began in full swing. Elder Mrs. Gu herself participated in the entire process and was extremely busy. Although the entire Gu family had strongly opposed it, especially Mrs. Gu’s that was the most intense. But with elder Mrs. Gu’s backing, the objections of the masses were of no use.

At the Jiang family’s villa, Ning Yun looked at the engagement invitation in her hand, and her face twisted hideously. She shouted hysterically twice and tore the invitation apart. “Damn it, damn it! The Gu family’s young mistress position is mine. How dare Ning Shan snatched it away so brazenly! How dare she! How dare that bitch?”

Ning Yun lost her temper and started rampaging around as if a tornado had swept through the living room. Mrs. Ning rushed in. “Yun ‘er, what happened?”

“Mom,” Ning Yun’s eyes were red. “The engagement invitation for Ning Shan and Gu Minghuai has arrived!”

Ning Yun’s mother saw the mess on the ground and immediately understood. She was also shocked, “This little bitch actually coaxed fourth master Gu into getting engaged to her?”

“Mom, you have to help me get the position of the Gu family’s young mistress. I don’t care how!” Ning Yun sobbed, tears streaming down her face.

“Sigh. Who asked you to suggest that Ning Shan replace you? You did this to yourself.” Ning Yun’s mother scolded.

“We agreed that I would give her two million and she would replace me once, but this little bitch broke her promise. From then on, she latched onto Gu Minghuai and refused to let go. Who knew that a country girl like her would be so bold!”

“For the sake of money and status, what’s there to be afraid of? Now that we can’t go back, we can only think of ways to fix it.” Ning Yun’s mother clenched her fists and muttered.

“Mom, what do you have in mind?” Ning Yun sniffed.
