Chapter 112 - 8 - Cousins?!

A few days had passed, and it's Saturday, a day of no school and having fun. But, this is the day when Rico's uncle, Lester, the brother of Rosario, will be visiting Kanto to see her and her family. However, he was also Serena's father, making Lucas his brother-in-law and Jonathan and Rico his nephews. By coincidence, Serena is visiting Kanto as well. She and Lester didn't even know they'll be visiting the same place. Meanwhile, Ash and his team are coming back home from Alola after some important missions, one of his tasks.

So, on that Saturday morning, while Rico was doing his daily training with his Pokémon, Lester was walking down the street to Rico's house holding a roller bag and a paper bag of goodies as a gift. In the same time, Serena was walking down the street towards Ash's house to wait for him to come home. And upon seeing her father, Serena was surprised, thinking, "Father, what are you doing here?" She could still recognize her father even her father haven't seen her for a long time at his job as a tailor and shop owner in Unova, due to being busy and only visited her and her mother a few times, often on Christmas. And as Lester knocks on the front door of Rico's house, Serena was spying at him in suspicion. Rosario answered it, and was delighted at her brother's sudden and surprise visit.

"Oh, brother, hi," she greeted him back. "You had come to see us, right?" Blissfully nodding to say yes, Lester responded, "Yes, I am." Today, Lucas was taking a day off after working all week, allowing him to spend time with his family. Inside, Lester greeted his older nephew and brother-in-law with a happy smile.

"Hi, uncle," Jonathan greeted him back.

"How's my good brother-in-law?" Lester asked Lucas brightly. Chuckling, Lucas replied back, "I'm doing okay, Lester." Rosario then came back to the living room with a tray full of snacks and drinks, and served it to his brother, older son, and husband.

"So, how's your career?" Rosario asked starting the conversation.

"Well, it's... it's fine," answered her brother, "I received a lot of customers and clients and made and design a lot of clothes."

"Wow, I think your childhood dream was really improving," Rosario replied back.

"Yeah, no kidding," Lucas added.

"So, how's your life in this region?" Lester asked her.

"We're okay in this house and town," Rosario answered back in a little carefree style. "Well, Lucas had been driving home from his work in Viridian City almost every night. And my kids are now really adaptable to this environment and atmosphere."

"Wow, I thought you guys had any problems about moving to another region," Lester replied back, "and it turns out to be great and worth it. Well, that was a good thing to hear. I hoped I could see Rico for the first time."

"Oh, he's coming home from his daily training," Jonathan responded back in positivity. Then, suddenly, Serena peek in, only to be surprised at her father's visit.

"Dad?" she asked him. Upon seeing her, Lester brightly responded with a greeting, "Hi, Serena, I didn't know you're here. Say hello to your aunt." Entering in, Serena responded back with stuttering, "A-Aunt?"

"Hi, there, I'm your Aunt Rosario," Rosario happily greeted her with the waving of her hand. But then, Rico came home from his training, only to hear Lester calling Rosario an aunt. He then appeared at the doorstep beside Serena, and asked, "'Did you just say 'aunt' to my mom?" Upon seeing him, Rosario responded back, "Oh, Rico, you're finally home, say hello to your uncle Lester."

"Hi, Rico, nice to meet you," Lester happily greeted him.

"Wait, what?" replied Rico with shock and confusion. "Uncle Lester?" Serena then turned around towards Rico and responded with shock, "Rico, your uncle Lester is my father."

"What?" Rico replied back with shock upon seeing her. "Y-Your father? But my mom is the sister of your father. So that means..."

"... you and me were..." Serena connected his sentence.

"... cousins?!" Rico and Serena simultaneously responded to each other. This shocking revelation will test the strength of their friendship, but, will they accept this fact, or not?
