Chapter 65 - 65 - Rico vs. Juan

Name:Pokemon Pearl Author:Marc0702
The Pokémon Arena was quiet, but it got interrupted by Rico and Juan's battle. Less than half a dozen people, including Detective Trevor, watched the two kids battle with each other. Their Pokémon were Riolu and Oshawott. Also, the arena was clean, thanks to the maintenance the management provided, giving them a safe and clean place to have a battle. The lights were turned off and the sunlight provided them with natural lighting, saving power for the arena. The arena grounds are made of smooth concrete, smooth enough for safe battling. The arena was empty, but opened for any Pokémon battles.

"Rico Cruz, I'm challenging you to a battle," Juan said to Rico with coolness. "Let's see how strong you are with four Pokémon." His Oshawott then responded with coolness.

"Oh, I am really ready!" Rico retorted back with coolness. In the audience, Detective Trevor commented how Rico gets stronger as he sat on his seat with a serious, yet bright face and crossed his arms. His white headband was tightly tied around his forehead and the back of his head, and his cape was taken off and was placed in front of his ŀȧp.

"I really liked that kid's potential and attitude towards battling," Trevor added another comment.

"Woah, really?" Emerson responded back. Trevor then silently nodded to say yes.

"Yeah, just like what Lucas had said to me, Rico is determined and doing his best," Campillo answered in response.

Then, as the sun leaves the center of the day, the battle had began.

"Oshawott, use Water Gun!" Juan commanded Oshawott with coolness. Oshawott then jumped high and used Water Gun opening its mouth and blasted Riolu with a forceful of water.

"Riolu, dodge it and use Focus Blast!" Rico commanded Riolu seriously. Riolu then used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking Oshawott with power. Oshawott then fell back to the ground, but it managed to snap out, standing on the ground with seriousness.

"Wow! It still stands?" Rico commented in surprise.

"Yeah, we train up a lot so it stands up after an attack," responded Juan with style. In the audience, Campillo commented how Oshawott can able to stand after an attack. Emerson and Detective Trevor then got amazed and impressed by it. Back at the battle, Rico commanded Riolu, "Use Karate Chop!" Riolu then charged towards Oshawott, jumped high, and used Karate Chop, attacking it with a sharp chop, striking Oshawott with great power. Oshawott was struck by it without a warning, and got weakened to the ground.

"Oh, no, Oshawott!" Juan responded to his Pokémon with alert. Oshawott bȧrėly managed to get up, and still seriously determined to finish up Riolu.

"Quickly, use Razor Shell!" Juan commanded Oshawott seriously. Oshawott then jumped high again and used Razor Shell cutting Riolu with its sharp shell, striking it without any warning.

"Riolu, quickly use Karate Chop, again!" Rico commanded Riolu quickly with alert. Riolu then snapped and retaliated by using Karate Chop, attacking Oshawott with a sharp chop, striking it effectively. Oshawott was struck more, and fell to the ground in pain again. Juan was surprised even more, but Oshawott was, still, determined not to give up, and then, glowed in evolving, changing its size, shape, and appearance. Everyone in the stadium got alerted and surprised in the same time by it.

"Woah, it evolves!"

"Amazing!"

"Outstanding!"

"O... Oshawott?" Juan asked it with a surprised and stunning face. Turning its head around halfway towards its Trainer, Dewott responded with a slight smile.

"It's a Dewott!" Campillo exclaimed with a positive outlook. In response to that, Rico pulled out his Pokédex and point it towards Dewott; his Pokédex then responded, "Dewott, the Discipline Pokémon, and the evolved form of Oshawott. A Water-type. As a result of strict training, each Dewott learns different forms for using the scalchop."

"Wow, super cool," Rico commented to himself in a low, yet a bit rising voice. He then put his Pokédex back in his pants pocket and focused back to the battle. Riolu was very surprised by Dewott's new form.

"I don't think Rico would win this battle," Emerson doubted Rico's strength.

"Yeah, that makes sense," Trevor added in agreement. Back at the battle, Rico commanded Riolu, "Riolu, use Focus Blast!" Riolu then used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power.

"Dewott! Dodge it!" Juan immediately commanded Dewott. Dewott then dodged the Focus Blast quickly and swiftly. This amazes everyone a lot.

"Wow, it became more faster!"

"Amazing!"

"Riolu?"

"Riolu, get up!" Rico responded to it. And as Riolu kept trying to get up, Juan seriously commanded Dewott, "Dewott, again use Razor Shell!" Dewott then jumped again and used Razor Shell, cutting Riolu with its sharp shells, striking Riolu so powerful Riolu was defeated quickly. And as the dust settles, Riolu fainted in defeat. Rico was shocked severely, and a referee announced the battle, "Riolu is unable to battle. Dewott wins." A referee can be called in whenever a battle takes place. Trevor, Emerson, and Campillo are mildly surprised by this. Juan and Dewott rejoiced in victory. Sighing in accepting his defeat without any hesitation or contempt, Rico called back his Riolu and said to it, "You did well, Riolu, you deserved some rest." Holding the Poké Ball firmly with his right hand, Rico looked at Juan at said to him, "That was an intense battle we had. I really liked it a lot." Though defeated, Rico was eager to learn from his mistakes.

"Thanks, after all, you're my friend," responded Juan back with cool positivity. Dewott then responded with cool happiness.

"Wow, he's so fair in battle," Emerson commented.

"Yeah, he is," Campillo agreed with her.

"That's the Rico I know," responded Trevor with agreement. He then stand up, wear his cape, and walked to the stairs and down to the stadium grounds towards the two kids. With the thudding of his black shoes hitting the concrete grounds, Trevor commented to them about the battle, "Well, Rico, that was good battle you had with Juan; but, can you handle mine?" He then looked at the dark brown-haired boy with a serious, cool look.

"Sure I am!" Rico accepted it readily and quickly with determination. "I am still energetic!" But, after he had lost against Juan, can Rico handle a battle with a detective?
