It all started when Rico was going home from the beach. It was a golden afternoon as vehicles and people are busy in their tasks and going home during rush hour. The leaves are falling from trees, as if it's the season of autumn, and the kids are playing in the streets and on the grass. Pokémon birds are flying in the sky in groups, and winds blowing in swift speeds. Along the way, he found a Riolu, a rare Fighting-Type Pokémon, being injured from being caught by Pokémon thieves. Having no Pokèmon of his own, he picked up a stick, and starts to poke that Pokémon, thought that it might attack him. Then, suddenly, two Pokémon thieves, dressed in grey t-shirt, green cap, yellow and green vest, grey shorts, brown boots, grey gloves, and each armed with a gauntlet, and ride on a Z.Z. Flyer, emerged from the trees. Their rapport is strong and ludicrous. The male thief then said to Rico, "Oh, what a poor Pokémon. I think that Pokémon is perfect for you;" then he and his female partner laughed. Rico, however, had a harsh criticism against Pokémon thieves.

Rico then carried Riolu in his arms, and yelled at them in mild anger, "Hey! Why and what did you done to it? What is this? Capturing a wild Pokèmon?" Then the female thief answered him, "What's the matter, kid? Are you afraid of us?" Then Rico seriously answered, "Heh, I am not afraid of you;" then he started throwing stones at them. But they dodge them. Then the male thief said to him, "Heh, I think you are a coward, kid. We are the Pokémon Pinchers. We -"; Rico threw the fourth stone before the male thief finished his sentence, this time it hits one of the Z.Z. Flyer's levers, leaning it to the left, causing the male thief's Z.Z. Flyer to descend out of control, eventually hitting his partner's Z.Z. Flyer.

Then Rico said to Riolu, "This is a distraction. I'll take you home." Riolu, weakened, responded, "Ri-o-lu." Rico then put Riolu in his bike's front basket, mounted on his bike, and fled as fast as he could. Once gaining control, the two Pokémon Pinchers start to chase Rico and Riolu. They then began shooting waves of circular beams using their gauntlets, but Rico dodged their attacks by shifting his bike left to right and vice versa, like those stunts you see in action movies. At last, Rico and Riolu hid in an abandoned house. The Pokémon Pinchers then inspect that house as Rico and Riolu hid rigidity and quietly; but they didn't find Rico nor Riolu, and left the place. Seeing that the close was clear, Rico and Riolu sighed in relief, came out of their hiding place, and managed to reach home at a neighborhood.
