Chapter 279 Uprooting Her Life

Kang Jun's voice was calm and collected but because of this, Lu AnLing felt more afraid to express her opinion.

What if she said something that upset Kang Jun? Would he hate her?

This was something Lu AnLing feared.

The two had never really fought before and this was something Lu AnLing was not used to. When she was young, she and her father would fight all the time and despite the fact that it was unhealthy to fight as much as they did, at least they understood where the other stood.

With Kang Jun, the man always catered to her and never judged her past or her present. He allowed her to make her own decisions but now, it was different. Now, they were married and what they would do for their daughter was something that both Kang Jun and Lu AnLing had to compromise on.

But first, Lu AnLing needed to find a way to voice her thoughts...

Looking at her, Kang Jun didn't say a word. He wanted to be patient with her because Kang Jun could see that whatever Lu AnLing wanted to say, it was important to her and so, it was important to him.

To show that he wanted her to be truthful, Kang Jun took her left hand into his own hand and then he squeezed it before he brought her hand to his lips and kissed the ring gently.

After he did this, Kang Jun raised his head and stared Lu AnLing in the eyes.

Seeing this, Lu AnLing shivered.

The man's eyes were so clear and straightforward. So much so, that Lu AnLing was slightly afraid but this opened up a path for her to speak truthfully.

Thinking for a moment, Lu AnLing's eye watered.

"Unlike Mingyu or Mei Xue, Yuxi... she looks so happy... Uncle Shen treats her well, she seems well fed and no one seems to be bullying her. " Lu AnLing said listing the good in Lu Yuxi's life. "I just don't want to rip that away from her. What if we take her back... take her away from the people she loves, and then she hates us?"

Lu AnLing knew how it was to be a child who hates her parent. Even if, when thinking back, she didn't actually hate her father, she knew that there were many times she had acted out of line and hurt him.

Maybe it would have been different if her mother hadn't selfishly left her. Maybe the three of them would have been happy.

Those kinds of thoughts had filled Lu AnLing's mind when she first began living with the Lu family.

And even if her mother's situation could not be compared with her own, Lu AnLing did not want to be rash and take Lu Yuxi away from her happy life just so she herself could feel completely whole again. It wouldn't be fair to Lu Yuxi and Lu AnLing knew this.

As Lu AnLing had spoken, Kang Jun had watched her every move the girl made and analyzed her some time afterwards.

Seeing Lu AnLing become reabsorbed in thought, Kang Jun's grip on her hand tightened.

"She won't hate us." Kang Jun said first. Then, right before Lu AnLing said anything else, Kang Jun sighed and then he looked at her sadly.

Kang Jun: "First confirm your theory with your mother, and then, if Yuxi truly is our daughter, we will slowly integrate ourselves into Yuxi's life and then we will mention her living with us permanently. Okay? I don't plan on uprooting her life either. And either way, we still need to deal with the custody battle with my grandmother. If Lu Yuxi is our daughter, then it will be best not to reveal that fact for the time being."

Hearing the way the man spoke, Lu AnLing burst into tears.

Seeing this, Kang Jun became extremely alarmed. The man jumped off the bed and then he lowered himself in front of his wife so he could look straight up into her tear filled eyes.

He wanted to speak, but he did not know what to say.

With tears still falling from her eyes, Lu AnLing suddenly began to laugh.

"Here I am worrying all by myself and you're so calm and logical..." she said, in between the sobs.

Swallowing hard, Kang Jun shook his head, "I'm not..."

Despite her own sobbing and crying, Lu AnLing could hear the pain in the man's voice.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing tried to wipe her tears away so she could look at the man in the eyes but the tears kept falling.

Kang Jun did not like showing his weaker side. This was just how he was but still, when it came to his wife and his children, like every doting husband or a loving parent, he couldn't help but be emotional.

This time, Lu AnLing wanted to speak but she could not say a word.

Kang Jun quickly noticed this so he said, "Whatever happens, will happen but right now, what we need to do is be strong. If we aren't, Mingyu and Mei Xue will notice...but if I can't be truthful, It breaks my heart to see you cry."

Hearing the man's words, Lu AnLing could not speak. She just nodded as Kang Jun stood up and then held her to his chest.

Once in his embrace, Lu AnLing heard the pound, pound, pounding of his heart clearly in her ears.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing felt a bit bad.

Lu AnLing hated feeling weak, and she wasn't but sometimes thoughts came into her mind and they made her doubt if what she was doing was right. With Lu Yuxi, this was a moral dilemma which she had been struggling with since she had had an inkling that the girl had been her daughter but because she was afraid of saying it, Lu AnLing 's heart felt heavy.

Now, after saying what she needed to say, and crying, Lu AnLing felt refreshed but still, she allowed the rest of her tears to fall.

Rong Yue Wan had planned to go to her uncles home straight from Qiao Manor but when she noticed that she was passing by the hospital, Rong Yue Wan could not help but go see Elder Qiao.

The old man was stable now, but he was practically a vegetable. This bothered Rong Yue Wan extremely, because not only did she want to go back to work but she also cared about the old man like he was her own grandfather and seeing him in such a sorry state pained her...

Arriving at the hospital, Rong Yue Wan looked up at the building and she sneered slightly before she entered.

Once inside, looking around, Rong Yue Wan noticed that the whole set up had changed.

Rong Yue Wan did not like hospitals. Especially not this hospital because she knew how unprofessional and corrupt it was. Mostly before the fire...

She remembered the day when, by order of Elder Qiao, she had once been forced to work here as a nurse for a week.

There was no procedure in hiring her. Elder Qiao had had a friend who worked at the hospital. And then, just like that, Rong Yue Wan had gotten the job.

This was dangerous beyond belief, mostly when Rong Yue Wan had found out that she was being forced to assist in delivering a baby!

Pausing her reminiscence for a second, Rong Yue Wan frowned.

"Wait... that woman's name, wasn't it Lu AnLing...?" Rong Yue Wan whispered to herself.
