Chapter 274 Mother in Law 2

When Lu AnLing and Mo Ruyi were dropped off at the Kang Manor by Rong Xin, the two entered. It was still early in the day so the two didn't expect anyone to be home but suddenly, they saw Elder Kang sitting on the couch with Secretary Rong by his side.

Seeing both women come into the house together, Elder Kang's face brightened. "I didn't know you two had become close?"

"We haven't." Mo Ruyi said swiftly. This caused Lu AnLing to freeze for a second. Did Mo Ruyi not like her? The girl wondered but her thoughts were premature because just as soon as Mo Ruyi had said that, she added. "But I hope we could be."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing looked towards Mo Ruyi who looked towards Elder Kang.

For the first time, Lu AnLing put her discomfort aside and truly examined Mo Ruyi.

The woman was cold and a bit rough around the edges, mostly when it came to the way she spoke but Mo Ruyi did not seem to have any bad intentions. The woman was curious about Lu AnLing and this wasn't such a strange thing...

Lu AnLing was her son's wife. The wife of the son who had claimed he never wanted to get married. Of course, such a turn of events would spark interest.

"What is Secretary Rong doing here?" Mo Ruyi asked curiously. Last she'd heard, the man was not even in the city.

"We were just talking." Elder Kang tried to just dismiss the conversation but now Mo Ruyi was completely interested.

Smiling slightly, Mo Ruyi took a seat on the couch and then she crossed a leg on top of the other. "About what?"

Lu AnLing was not interested about what was going on but she followed Mo Ruyi's lead and sat on the couch.

The room was quiet for a moment, and Mo Ruyi looked at Elder Kang with anticipation. She wasn't letting it go at all and despite the fact that Mo Ruyi wasn't a Kang by blood, the woman held a lot of power over Elder Kang due to how well she had treated Kang Mu despite all his wrongdoings and raised all of Elder Kang's grandsons.

So seeing that Mo Ruyi would not give up, Elder Kang sighed. "Well... I want to divorce Zhengyi."

Hearing this, Mo Ruyi frowned and even Lu AnLing couldn't help but frown slightly.

She knew that Elder Kang loved Rong Lihua and that he probably wanted to be with her once more but hadn't this been the reason why Rong Lihua 'died' in the past? At least that was what Kang Jun had assumed and usually, his assumptions were right...

"Why?" Mo Ruyi asked without refrain.

"It's time..." Elder Kang said slightly awkwardly.

Frowning, even more, Mo Ruyi said, "It's time? What does that even mean?"

"I never loved Zhengyi and she's becoming too much. How dare she not give Jun his daughter back! She is obviously not thinking in his best interest." Elder Kang said emotionally.

"I don't think you're thinking in Jun's best interest either. Actually, I think that what you're about to do is a bad idea. At least for now." Mo Ruyi said simply as she crossed her arms over her chest.

Hearing this, Elder Kang frowned and furrowed his eyebrows. "What makes you say that?"

Elder Kang did not feel offended. Instead, he was interested in her opinion. Mo Ruyi was smart, so she could give Elder Kang a much-needed change of perspective.

Looking at Elder Kang with a dark expression Mo Ruyi lifted her head arrogantly. "Jun wants to get his daughter back and mother in law has the girl in her custody. Why would you want to anger mother in law? This would only cause a backlash. To hurt you, she would try even harder to make sure that Jun doesn't get to win custody of Mei Xue."

Internalizing what Mo Ruyi was saying, Elder Kang, nodded slowly. He then turned to Lu AnLing, and asked, "What do you think?"

Hearing this, Lu AnLing was confused for a moment. She did not expect to be called upon. However, for Elder Kang, this involved Lu AnLing directly due to her being Kang Jun's wife, so Elder Kang considered, her opinion, Kang Jun's opinion.

"Uhh..." Lu AnLing said, still in slight shock. "I think that mother in law is right. I think the last thing Jun wants is for something jeopardizing his chances of getting Mei Xue back..."

Since Lu AnLing could not reveal, not even in the slightest that she was Kang Mei Xue's Mother, the girl tried to disconnect herself slightly from the situation. Though this hurt her a bit. She wanted to say that Kang Mei Xue was her daughter and that she also deeply wanted the girl to finally be hers again.

"If you both think so, then I won't do it... at least for now." Elder Kang said with a sigh.

When he had finished saying this, the sound of the door opening was heard.

Rong Lihua and Rong Xin walked in, each one of them carrying one of the children. Seeing the people in the room, Rong Lihua swallowed hard.

"I'm sorry for the intrusion," Rong Lihua said meekly, slightly changing her voice.

Now that Rong Lihua knew that she used to be Lu Li Jing in the past and understanding that what had happened to her might have not been an accident, Rong Lihua needed to be more careful. Mostly now that she switched between Kang Jun's home and the Kang manor.

From now on, the woman would meet many Kang family members. Including the one who had caused her to lose her memories and face.

Seeing Rong Lihua seem a bit awkward, Lu AnLing was about to stand up and do something but then, both Kang Mei Xue and Kang Mingyu struggled in the arms of Rong Lihua and Rong Xin.

Feeling this, the two allowed the kids down. Kang Mei Xue, who hated heights hadn't been too comfortable being held either way, but the girl had been feeling slightly light headed so she had no choice but to be held.

After being let down, the two kids ignored everyone and ran over to Lu AnLing. Seeing them both, Lu AnLing smiled and brought them onto the couch so they could sit with her.

Both kids took up a spot on Lu AnLing's lap.
