Chapter 227 So Used To Hating

Confused like never before, Lu AnLing approached her grandmother with a frown and said, "What's going on? Who's Li Jing? Explain. Now!"

Hearing this, Grandma Lu looked at her granddaughter and said, "Li Jing is my sister on my fathers's side. You remember him..."

Of course, Lu AnLing remembered him... and how he didn't want to accept a 'bastard' into the family. Even though now it seemed like he had brought one in before! The thought made her frown, but right now, that wasn't the problem.

Looking around the room, Lu AnLing wanted to ask more questions but she didn't know where to start.

Meanwhile, Rong Lihua was beginning to look a bit lightheaded. Noticing this, both Kang Jun and Rong Xin accompanied the old woman to the love seat where the kids had been sitting. Once they placed her there, a worried Grandma Lu ran to sit beside the woman.

"Li Jing, are you okay?" Grandma Lu said with worry overtaking her expression. She had completely forgotten her anger towards Elder Kang now, her whole being was focused on her long since gone, believed to be dead, sister.

Hearing what Grandma Lu called her, Rong Lihua began to shake her head. "I'm not Li Jing... I'm Rong Lihua..."

"No! I'm sure you're Li Jing! My sister!" Grandma Lu said as her eyes stung with tears.

Elder Kang nodded. "Your voice... it's an exact match for my... for Li Jing..."

Grandma Lu did not want Elder Kang's help but the fact that Li Jing was alive lessened her hate for the old man, ever so slightly. She took his words like a springboard and said, "Yes, your eyes also. I would know those eyes anywhere."

Looking into Ring Lihua's eyes, Grandma Lu felt the urge to touch the woman.

She was so happy her sister was alive but hearing this, Rong Lihua was at a standstill.

"What is the last thing you remember?" As she said this, Grandma Lu touched Rong Lihua's hand gently. Feeling this, Rong Lihua felt her heart squeeze. It was a strange feeling she could only equate to guilt but she didn't know why she felt this...

Not wanting to deal with the feeling in her heart, Rong Lihua said, "Waking up in a hospital. It was 19 years ago. I... I had just experienced an accident."

Grandma Lu frowned, "What kind of accident?"

"Car accident." She said before she turned away. "At least that's what Zhi said..."

Rong Lihua was beginning to get confused. She didn't believe that she was Li Jing, at least not yet, but hearing this, made Rong Lihua begin to doubt everything Kang Zhi has told her. No wonder Rong Alina had given him a strange look when he had told her her name.

But now, the question was, why didn't Alina clear up the mistake?

As Rong Lihua thought about this, Grandma Lu's eyes welled up with more tears. Her sister had 'died' in a car accident 19 or so years ago. This was her sister. There was no mistake.

But while Grandma Lu focused on this piece of information, Kang Jun, hearing the other part of her sentence, said,

"Zhi as in Kang Zhi?"

Looking up at Kang Jun, Rong Lihua nodded. "He took care of me... he gave me a home, gave me money to live and take care of my daughters and grandson. He introduced me to jobs..."

Including the one she had now, working for Kang Jun...

Hearing this, Elder Kang reacted and Kang Jun noticed this immediately.

Thinking back to the past, Kang Jun didn't know whether to feel shocked or not but truthfully, Kang Jun always suspected that Rong Lihua was somehow special.

When Kang Jun was only 23, Kang Zhi had introduced Rong Lihua to him. By then, Kang Jun had already returned from America and had bought the house he lived in today. On that day, Kang Zhi wanted to offer Kang Jun a proposition; give Rong Lihua a job, protect her and her grandson, and then Kang Zhi would do anything for him. Even give up his claim to Kang Corporations.

Hearing this, Kang Jun was interested and so he accepted but he didn't ask for such a thing. In fact, he was glad to take in Rong Lihua. She was kind and hardworking.

Either way, Kang Jun had noticed something that Kang Zhi had not expected him to...

Kang Jun had met Rong Lihua several times in the past, even before her accident, when she had worked in Kang Manor as a housekeeper.

He never mentioned anything of the sort to anyone but Kang Jun had always had his theories regarding what the woman was to Kang Zhi but he never cared enough to really investigate it.

However, now, it was different.

Hearing what Rong Lihua had said, Kang Jun looked to his grandfather and said, "Grandfather, come with me. Let's leave them to talk for a while."

The elder didn't want this. He had finally gotten to see Lu Li Jing again, he didn't want her out of his sights but Kang Jun's words were not an offer, they were commands and so the old man followed him, occasionally glancing back at Lu Li Jing. Looking at how painful the scars on her face looked, Elder Kang's heart began to shatter into a million pieces.

This was his fault...

How was he to fix it?

Now, with the Kang's in one room and the Lu's in the other, Grandma Lu felt as if she had the freedom to inquire about the situation without barrier.

"You're Rong Lihua now?... You adopted your mothers name..." Grandma Lu said. It wasn't a question, just a statement.

"My mother?" Rong Lihua whispered as her mind wandered for a second. It was like she was standing at a wall and on the other side there were answers but she couldn't, for the life of her, break it.

Grandma Lu laughed dryly.

"What are you doing working for a Kang, again?" Grandma Lu said accidentally letting the disgust seep from her tongue.

Hearing this, Rong Lihua frowned but she didn't say a thing. Grandma Lu was a guest after all. She didn't want to offend the woman but Rong Xin, on the other hand, didn't care at all.

Rong Xin: "What's wrong with the Kang's? Kang Zhi saved my grandmother and Kang Jun gave us a roof over our heads, keeps us fed and treats us well!"

Rong Xin was usually quiet but when it came to insulting someone who the boy owed his life to, Rong Xin wouldn't stand for it.

Lu AnLing looked at her grandmother without remorse and said, "Grandma, If you came here just to insult the Kang's I think it's best for you to leave..."

Hearing this, Grandma Lu didn't feel angry or wronged. In fact, she felt as if she had done something stupid. This was exactly how she had lost her sister the first time and she didn't want to lose her again, so she shook her head and said, "I'm so sorry... I... I'm so used to hating... and it just came out like that. Please forgive me."

Lu AnLing and Rong Xin were like a united front. They didn't say a word. Seeing this, Ring Lihua felt a strange warmth within her but then, she turned to Grandma Lu.

Rong Lihua sighed. "You need to apologize to the young master if that's how you feel."

Hearing this, Grandma Lu and Rong Lihua shivered. It was like a blast from the past.

Lu Lili was always quick-tempered and strange. Always getting herself into stupid fights and her sister would always call her out on it and tell her to apologize...

Feeling the strange tingle of remembrance in her bones, Grandma Lu began to cry.

"Li Jing...I miss you so so much..." Grandma Lu said as she cried her heart out.

Seeing this, Rong Lihua approached the woman and wiped her tears away. It was so natural and normal to her. She didn't understand, but it broke her heart to see the old woman cry.
