Chapter 214 Life Wasn’t Fair

Lu AnLing had imagined her reunion going many different ways. If she had to describe her assumption using only one word they would have been either annoying or boring, but never in a million years had she expected everything to all go to shit so quickly.

Staring at a group of three girls, Lu AnLing frowned but she didn't cower and take their verbal abuses like she used to.

"There's no need for me to seduce anyone. I'm just naturally likable, which isn't something I can say about any of you." Lu AnLing tilted her head innocently.

One of the girls flared up. Anger bursting from every fiber of the girl's body. Taking a step forward she said, "Bitch, who do you think you're talking to!? A country bumpkin like you should thank the heavens that you can even breathe the same air as us."

Lu AnLing crossed her arms over her chest. "Actually, I'm wondering what crimes I committedin my past life to be surrounded by such foul-mouthed pigs, such as yourselves."

The girl was about to explode once more but the girl who stood in the middle of the three stopped her. She approached Lu AnLing and said, "You sure have lots of courage, don't you? Fooling around with Goddess Mian's boyfriend. You're such a whore. What did you do? Wag your little tail in front of him like a little bitch?"

Some socialites were very foul-mouthed. Lu AnLing was one of them but she barely ever used foul language against another person in public unless they truly deserved it.

Listening to these girls speak to her, Lu AnLing felt her ears behind to rot.

"I'm pretty sure you'd know best." Lu AnLing sighed.

The girls face suddenly turned dark. Wanting to leave before any of this got worse, Lu AnLing tried her best to get passed the three but they wouldn't allow her.

The middle girl turned to the girl on her right and then she said, "Teach her a lesson."

Lu AnLing felt a slap coming. At first, she planned on avoiding it, but thinking about it, Lu AnLing came to the conclusion that it was best to let it happen.

Feeling the sting of a slap on her right cheek, Lu AnLing barely moved. It wasn't strong at all, but a red mark began appearing nonetheless.

Looking at the girl as if she was weak, Lu AnLing then raised her right hand and gave the girl, who had just hit her, a backhanded slap. Lu AnLing didn't even bat an eyelash as the girl came tumbling down.

Seeing this, the two other girls bent down at her side.

Tears began to stream down the girl's face. She had never been hit before. Not even by her own parents.

Lu AnLing had long realized that this was a common thing amongst the socialites.

When Lu AnLing was young she was insolent and reckless so her father had slapped her a lot. At some point she had almost become used to it, so they barely hurt anymore.

Looking down at the girls, Lu AnLing sneered, "Is that all you got?"

Hearing this another girl lifted herself up and tried her hand at Lu AnLing but she wouldn't allow herself to be slapped twice in one day.

When the girl's hand came down, Lu AnLing grabbed it and then she twisted it behind the girl's back. The girl squealed in pain before Lu AnLing threw her to the ground.

Seeing this happen, the girl who had stood in the middle, listened herself up and pushed Lu AnLing back before going to check on her friend. Lu AnLing didn't care so she maneuvered her way around the girls but then, the girl stood up and screamed,

"Lu AnLing, how dare you!"

After saying this, the girl charged Lu AnLing's way. Turning, Lu AnLing saw the woman's legs slightly wobbling as she approached.

Seeing this, Lu AnLing laughed. When the girl was close she tried to grab onto Lu AnLing's hair but in a swift motion, Lu AnLing's hand came crashing upon the woman's face, sending her to the floor like with her other friend.

By then, many workers of Hotel Helios had spotted the scene so they went to get the manager.

Seeing all the commotion, the manager had wondered if he should call Kang Jun. He recognized Lu AnLing and quickly recognized the possible trouble she was in. Not wanting any trouble, the man decided to be safe rather than sorry.

Lu AnLing didn't know about this at all. She was just enjoying the fact that she could finally fight back.

In the past, Lu AnLing had always hated being stepped on and now, there was no need to act accordingly.

From the distance, Kang Liang watched the scene unfold. At first, he was going to go and help the girl but he quickly saw that she could handle herself.

Lu AnLing was strong. Though seeing the relieved smile that appeared on her face, Kang Liang felt shivers go down his spine.

There was no doubt in his mind that she might be the perfect woman for his brother...

Once Lu AnLing was done toying with the girls, she looked at them like they were trash and then she walked away.

At the end of the hall, Lu AnLing's eyes suddenly came into contact with Kang Liang who looked at her with eyes full of shock.

Gazing back at the three girls who were left practically crying on the floor. Lu AnLing shrugged at the man. "It was self-defense."

Kang Liang didn't know whether he wanted to laugh or cry.

Touching her cheek slightly, she felt it sting so she winced ever so slightly.

Looking at her sadly, Kang Liang frowned. How would he explain this to his brother? Or should he just pretend he wasn't there...

Kang Liang assessed his choices but he couldn't find anything satisfactory.

Looking over Lu AnLing, Kang Liang was about to ask her if she was okay but then suddenly, Sheng ran up to Lu AnLing and put his hand on her face. "You good?"

Sheng had left the lounge in search of Lu AnLing and Kang Liang a small while ago. He had completely missed the fight but when he found them, he had a sudden feeling as if something was wrong so he ran to them. Seeing Lu AnLing with a red mark on her cheek, his whole body stiffened.

Looking down the hall, the boy easily assumed what had happened.

"I'm just peachy." Lu AnLing said in the most amused voice Sheng had ever heard, as she smiled from ear to ear, though her eyes had no happiness within them, just serenity. "I just got bitchslapped but if you looked at the other girls, this was nothing. How else would I feel?"

Detecting the heavy levels of sarcasm in her voice, Sheng frowned. "You shouldn't let other people hurt you. You're better than that... but I see, you're just fine..."

Lu AnLing shrugged.

For the first time since she entered Hotel Helios, Lu AnLing felt completely calm. She had been holding onto a little bit of fear and interest about what others thought about her.

She couldn't lie to herself... what people thought and said about her, hurt her but she wasn't about to let that define her.

In the end, Lu AnLing didn't have time to worry about such trivial things mostly not when Kang Jun was dealing with a lead about who kidnapped their children.

As Lu AnLing thought this her face dimmed. Sheng saw this but he was more concerned about the red handprint on her face.

Sheng: "Bro, we gotta go get some ointment for that..."

Lu AnLing shook her head. "I'll be fine."

Suddenly, a voice behind her spoke. "No, you won't be."

Recognizing the obvious annoyance in the voice. Lu AnLing knew for a fact that it was Ring Xin's.

Lu AnLing didn't know why he was here. Little did she know what the manager had done but as soon as the call had reached Kang Jun's ears. He had requested Rong Xin to take care of it.

It didn't take too long for Rong Xin to arrive on the scene.

When Lu AnLing laid eyes on him and his cold stare, The girl didn't know what to do.

"Time to go home already?" Lu AnLing asked awkwardly.

Looking at her Rong Xin just sighed. He then beckoned her to talk to him in private.

She did as she was told without complaint.

Once they arrived in a small corner, Rong Xin turned to her with a frown.

"I'm not around for less than an hour and somehow you end up getting yourself into a mess." Rong Xin complained and then he took her face and brought it closer to him. He then applied some ointment on it as he frowned, "Do you not know how much the master treasures you. When you get hurt do you know how he feels?"

Hearing those words, Lu AnLing felt her heart clench.

Though Rong Xin wasn't saying this for Kang Jun, he was just taking his anger out on Lu AnLing.

Rong Xin was annoyed. At the moment, he could have been with Kang Jun torturing Chong Wei. You know, actually doing something in his field of expertise and yet, now he was back here; stuck being a bodyguard for an ordinary girl who barely liked leaving her own house...

Life wasn't fair.

Lu AnLing could immediately tell that Rong Xin was in the worst mood she had ever seen him in so she apologized and then said,

"Where's Mingyu?"

Rong Xin: "He was left with Elder Kang. He will spend a couple of days with the elder and then he will bring him back to you on the day you invited him home."

Lu AnLing nodded. "... And Mei Xue?"

"She'll be coming over on that day also."

Lu AnLing's heart warmed as she nodded her head. She wanted to see her daughter.

"How's the Old Chong thing going?"

As she was saying this, Lu AnLing looked at the man's collar and saw a single droplet of red on it.

Her face immediately twisted. "Is that blood?"

Rong Xin looked down and then he pulled on his collar so he could see it clearly. Rong Xin shrugged. "It seems so."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing massages her temple.

After saying this, Lu AnLing and Rong Xin walked back to Kang Liang and Sheng who were in a deep conversation.

Lu AnLing put her hands on her hips. "What's going on here?"

Turning to look at her, the boys gave her a look of interest and they both said,

"We want revenge!"

"For you of course," Sheng added.

Lu AnLing laughed. "Isn't me beating those girls up revenge enough?"

Kang Liang shook his head. "You just shook the tiger's cage. Now you need a little more chaos. Show them never to mess with you again!"

Sheng smirked. "Girls are a strange specimen. They can hit and scratch each other's eyes out but the scheming never stops. Guys are much simpler."

Lu AnLing rolled her eyes but then she suddenly heard Rong Xin speak.

"He's not wrong."

Sheng smirked. "I'm never wrong."

Hearing this, Rong Xin didn't know whether to laugh or frown but nonetheless, he said, "If saying that makes it easier for you to look yourself in the mirror, so be it."

Sheng touched his buzzcut haircut and said, "I never have a problem with looking at myself in the mirror. Have you seen me?"

Hearing this, Lu AnLing raised her eyebrows. She strangely felt as if she was being force-fed dog food. This caused her to miss Kang Jun intensely so she frowned.

"Why don't you two just date already." Lu AnLing said without thinking.

Suddenly Sheng blushed and Rong Xin's face twisted.

Seeing this, Kang Liang and Lu AnLing felt a bit embarrassed and strange themselves, but they didn't voice their feelings. Instead, Kang Liang pushes himself up from off the couch he was sitting on and then he said, "Shall we go back in?"

Hearing this, Lu AnLing shrugged and followed him and then Sheng followed also. Not wanting to be left behind, mostly because he needed to protect Lu AnLing, Rong Xin walked right behind them.

The four walked calmly to the door but once they opened it, they weren't ready for what they would encounter.

Once inside, all eyes turned to Lu AnLing and then suddenly, a group of girls exploded into insults.

"Whore, just go home! No one wants to see you here. You're a disgrace."

"Bitch! How dare you try to steal goddesses boyfriend!"

Now, even the boys joined in.

"Adultery should be a crime... how could you?"

"What has Goddess Mian ever done to you, weren't you friends?"

Watching and listening as the bunch complained, Lu AnLing gazed through the room. She searched for those three girls but instead, Lu AnLing laid her eyes on a red-eyed Xiao Mian and an innocent looking Zhao Fei.

Lu AnLing could assume what had happened and as she looked at Zhao Fei, Lu AnLing's hands turned into firsts.
