Chapter 118: Battle prowess of Zhan Chen

"Bone slashing wind of West mountain", a fourth stage expert of Shen clan roared out as he launched an attack towards the approaching Ironback wolves.

The target of his attack was a grade four magical beast who was the quickest to reach near their entourage. Three to four grade three Ironback wolves were following behind the grade four Ironback wolf as they quickly approached the side of Zhan Chen and Shen Ruyan's group.

In response to the attack of the fourth stage expert of Shen clan, the grade four magical beast responded with an attack of its own.

The grade four Ironback wolf opened its mouth and shoot an essence energy attack to meet the attack of Shen family expert.

"Boom!", a resounding sound of collision produced as the attacks of both side collided.

Soon enough, choas engulfed the place as Ironback wolves started to pour in from different directions.

Zhan Chen took out his sword as he kept an eye on the attacking Ironback wolves. Soon enough, as he expected the Shen clan experts found it difficult to defend the inner circle. There were only a few Shen clan experts but the number of magical beasts were overwhelming.

With addition to the resilience of the Ironback wolves, the Shen clan experts found it difficult to handle the situation. The stage five peak expert of Shen clan had not attacked yet as he was looking towards the leader of Ironback wolves.

The other grade five expert of Shen clan was fighting it out with a group of three peak stage grade four Ironback wolves. Zhan Chen took a look at the situation and sprang into action.

Kai Min also wanted to follow behind Zhan Chen as she took out her sword. But before she could do anything, Zhan Chen's silhouette blurred out from her vision.

"How fast!", Li Yan exclaimed as a surprised look appeared in her eyes. Zhan Chen appeared near a grade three Ironback wolf and swung his sword downward.

There was no sound but the sword Devour easily paased through the defence of Ironback wolf. Zhan Chen didn't even wait to check the result as he switched to another Ironback wolf.

Those who were looking at Zhan Chen from his back had stunned looks on their faces as they watched the headless grade three Ironback wolf.

A shower of blood came out as the body of Ironback wolf took a step.

"Thud!", then with a dull sound the body of Ironback wolf fell on the ground.

Li Shu, Kai Min and Li Yan looked at Zhan Chen speechlessly as Zhan Chen easily took down one after another Iron wolf. He finally had to give in a little more effort as he battled a grade four Ironback wolf.

"Unbelievable! How can he take down grade three magical beasts so easily?", Liu Nanxi muttered as she was keeping an eye on Zhan Chen along with Shen Ruyan.

"Ruyan, what is his cultivation level?", Shen Yuxi asked. Shen Ruyan turned to look at Shen Yuxi who was riding a Horned lion along with Ling'er.

"Aunt Yuxi, I have yet to ask his current cultivation level. The last time I have checked on him, he was at peak stage of Meridian opening realm", Shen Ruyan replied to Shen Yuxi who had a curious expression on her eyes as she observed Zhan Chen.

Even in such a choatic situation, Zhan Chen successfully managed to draw the attention of Shen clan experts towards him. Zhan Chen didn't mind the curious gazes as he battled the fourth grade Ironback wolf.

The Ironback wolf charged towards him as Zhan Chen fought it in a close quarter fight. The wolf tried to attack him with its paw but Zhan Chen easily blocked it's attack with his sword.

He then withdrew his sword at a faster speed and attacked the head of the Ironback wolf. A metallic sound came out as Zhan Chen's sword couldn't penetrate the thick skin of Iroback wolf.

The Ironback wolf enraged after being attacked by Zhan Chen. it took a step back and ran around Zhan Chen to find a better angle to attack him.

Zhan Chen didn't move as he let the Ironback wolf did as it please. Even his sword stance was not defensive as he held the sword Devour in a lax manner.

The Ironback wolf attacked finally after running around a little. It incresed its pace and pounced towards the neck of Zhan Chen with its mouth wide upon.

Zhan Chen didn't move immediately as the breath of Zhan Chen's women stopped for a moment. When the fourth grade Ironback wolf was fully assured of its victory, Zhan Chen turned his body slightly as he plunged the sword Devour from the underside of Iroback wolf's neck.

This time his sword didn't meet any obstacle as it directly penetrated the neck of the Ironback wolf. The body of the Ironback wolf still came towards Zhan Chen as Zhan Chen's sword plunged deeper inside the neck of the Ironback wolf. 

Zhan Chen moved slightly as the Ironback wolf fell on the place where he was standing previously. The sword Devour was stabbed through its neck and all traces of life had gone from it by the time Zhan Chen pulled out his sword. Zhan Chen moved to his next target as he killed another grade three Ironback wolf quickly.

"Wow, young master Chen is amazing!", Li Shu cried out as her adoration for Zhan Chen grew even further. Kai Min also had an amazed look on her eyes as she felt happy in her heart. She knew Zhan Chen was capable but after witnessing Zhan Chen's might, she knew how incredible Zhan Chen was. The one who felt most uncomfortable in the group was Li Yan.

She was earlier spewing hateful words about Zhan Chen. But after witnessing Zhan Chen's battle prowcess she became speechless. It felt like something was struck in her throat after witnessing the battle unfolding infront of her.

The battle seemed somehow cumbersome for Shen clan experts as there were so many Ironback wolves to kill. But the blitz of Zhan Chen made it easy for Shen clan experts to end the battle quickly. The battle ended formally as the fifth stage peak expert of Shen clan slayed the leader of the Ironback wolves.

The group of Zhan Chen and Shen Ruyan decided to rest a little as it was best to travel in peak condition of the body and mind. It would be risky to face another group of magical beasts herd like Ironback wolves if some of the group were not in their peak condition.

Zhan Chen sheathed his sword after the battle was over. He moved near Kai Min and Li Shu and sat beside them.

"Young master Chen, you are amazing today. Despite seeing for myself, I still couldn't believe my eyes that you are slaying grade four magical beasts", Kai Min spoke.

"It is no big deal. You can also do the same after some training", Zhan Chen replied.

He was just chatting casually when the peak level fifth stage expert of Shen clan appeared near his group which was comprised of himself, Kai Min and Li Shu.

"Young man, how are you doing?", the old looking fifth stage expert of Shen clan asked Zhan Chen.

"Greetings senior. I am doing fine", Zhan Chen replied after bowing slightly towards the peak expert of Shen clan.

The old expert of Shen clan nodded his head after seeing the polite behaviour of Zhan Chen.

"Young man, you are quite capable. Seems like the reputation of your predecessors is well deserved", the old expert of Shen clan spoke with a light smile on his face.
