129 Chapter 128: Trying not to think of him

"No way. Agatha doesn't like me like that." Legolas said awkwardly. Turning to her, he said with a mischievous smile, "If you don't believe what I just told you about, then ask Prince Irwing. He got reprimanded by the administration for keeping a mythical animal inside the academy premises without getting permission first."

Elize was surprised at the fact that the Vice Principal of the school got admonished for something at all. Besides, he was the prince of the Fae- were they allowed to talk down to him? She wondered. But she wasn't worried- he was Lloyd Irwing after all. The man could bend other people's will like a string and turn situations around to his favor. She had seen his moves in play.

Her thoughts immediately went out to the Zhouyu. The creature was generally peaceful around them. Unless provoked, it never took any rash actions. The most it would do to scare off strangers was to growl at them. How did this happen? And if the news had already reached the administration, the creature would have faced dire consequences, unlike the kelpie. Knowing how protective the academy was of their students, it was an obvious conclusion. And knowing this worried her. Although she was not as attached to the Zhouyu as Agatha was, she was quite concerned for its well being. After all, it was an auspicious creature who had done nothing but love them.

"What about the Zhouyu? What will they do about it?" She asked, looking worried.

Legolas looked around in a hurry. He leaned forward and answered in a hushed voice. "I heard that they had asked the prince to take responsibility and remove it from the academy premises. He had agreed to take the Zhouyu to the imperial palace."

"Ohh.." Elize said blankly.

She was strangely feeling disappointed at the news. So the Kelpie had left without telling her. Maybe she had expected too much of him, she thought. Perhaps they weren't as close as she had felt that they were. Memories flashed in her mind, where she had spent hours together with him, feeling carefree. One image, in particular, had been stuck in her head from the time that she had left the party. She remembered the strange look in his eyes as he had looked at her. It had been bothering her for some time now, haunting her even while she was with Zack. He seemed like he was in pain. She had planned on asking him about it once they get some time to themselves. But it seemed that he didn't care enough to even bid farewell to her before going back to his palace. Was he trying to avoid her? Or did she mean so little to him that he thought it unnecessary?

"Why is Agatha not talking to you?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.

Legolas shrugged.

"I have no idea." He said with a clueless expression. "I had confessed to Agatha in the garden. She hadn't given me a reply until now. She just disappeared from the party straight after the incident. I've been waiting for a reply. But she seemed to be avoiding me. I don't know why."

Elize chuckled, seeing her friend's expression. He looked like a poor little kitten waiting for milk. She sighed happily, seeing how sincere Legolas was towards her friend. Although she hadn't expected any of this, it was a happy surprise. Everything was finally settling down. She could now rest easy with her mate by her side, she thought. She had Zack and her friends with her- she shouldn't be worrying about the Kelpie, she told herself in her mind.

Suddenly the bell at the top of the administrative building rang, signaling the commencement of classes. Elize looked towards the entrance of the building with a frown. Students were walking in a hurry towards their classes. She had plans of meeting Zack before her class started, but now that will have to wait, she thought. She turned towards Legolas.

"I'll meet you at Runebreaker's?" She asked, poking his arm.

"Sure," Legolas replied with a nod.

Waving at him, she turned around and started walking towards the building. She didn't notice that her friend hadn't followed her. Her mind was elsewhere. How much ever she tried, the Kelpie's sad face was flashing in her mind again and again. They hadn't even spent much time together at the party. Although he had taken much care to arrange everything for her, she hadn't even thanked him properly. She couldn't count the number of times that the kelpie had helped her out in stressful situations and stood by her side whenever she needed him. Even when she was pushing him away, he had done everything to make her happy. Elize knew that it must be hard for him to do all of this for her while watching her with Zack. But he never had complained. She owed him, way more than she could repay.

Suddenly someone grabbed her shoulder from behind. In her defense, she slid away from the touch at lightning speed. Turning around, she growled menacingly crouching on the ground. Legolas stepped back, putting his hands in the air nervously.

"It's just me." He said wide-eyed.

Elize relaxed, seeing the elf.

"I'm sorry." She apologized with an awkward laugh. "I was not in my right mind."

"It's okay," Legolas said, scratching his head nervously. "I have a favor to ask of you."

"Yeah?" She asked, raising her brows.

Legolas sighed. He seemed like he was about to ask her for her kidneys. It was quite unlike him to be all out of courage. The elf always projected confidence in every situation. What could make him nervous in front of her suddenly? Elize wondered.

"Can you make sure that Agatha is fine?" He asked, looking at her with pleading eyes.

Elize suddenly laughed. She couldn't resist it. The young duke of fae empire was pleading to her to make sure that his crush was fine? She wished she had a phone to record this moment. This was the most vulnerable that she had seen him. Calming down, she raised her chin, with a mischievous smile.

"You don't have to tell me that elf." She said, sticking her tongue out at him. Shaking her finger at him, she continued, "She was my friend before you fell for her."

Hearing her reply, Legolas's mood lightened. He smiled shyly, with a grateful look on his face. "I owe you one." He said, turning around.

Elize winked at her friend. "See ya!" She shouted as she ran inside the building.
