He can't...

He simply can't...

He cannot let Clyde die just for him to survive

He doesn't want to never see that man again

He wants Clyde to be safe, perfectly safe

But why?

It's easy to just go and lived in another place. Even if Ryden were to become a fugitive, with his prowess, it would not be hard for him to live quite lavishly

Even if the Empire were to send people to kill him, unless he was facing an army with a large number of soldiers, Ryden can still defeat them or at least flee

He was not a feared wargod for nothing. It can be said that although he cannot destroy the entire Empire on his own, as long as the Empire does not mobilize almost all of its military might, they also could not kill Ryden

As such, the option of living in some Kingdom is very tempting. In fact, Ryden alone might have the power to raze an entire Kingdom on his own if he were to be careful

As such, what kind of Kingdom would dare antagonize him?

Ryden has a perfectly safe option that he could choose to live his life peacefully but he do not want to choose such a life

He wants a life with his wife. As for the reason? Only now did Ryden realized that he have feelings for Clyde

He likes that man that is always nagging and scolding him but is still making sure that he is perfectly fine. The man that is always busy with work that is for both of their sakes but still feels bad whenever he neglected Ryden too much

No, Ryden cannot just ignore his wife's condition and he has to save him no matter what but how? He is not as intelligent as Clyde to figure out what he should do or how he could find him

Just as Ryden was contemplating, a familiar voice suddenly entered his ears

"Surprise! I am here!" the voice said and when Ryden looked at who it was, he saw Harley standing on the doorsteps

Instantly, Ryden's eyes turned red and reason left his mind and body. In a flash, Ryden appeared in front of the Princess while gripping his neck and raising him fro the ground

The thing that the maids and guards are afraid of actually happened. Ryden lost his reason and started attacking the weak little Princess!

"Your Highness!"

"Stop, you are hurting the Princess!

"Please calm down"

The maids and guards cried out but Ryden do not have the mental capacity to listen to them

"Where? Where did you take my wife? How dare you kidnap him?" Ryden asks angrily even though he do not have proof that it was Harley that took Clyde

It's just that his and and his wife's enemy are the people from the Duke of Rothlad and the Imperial Family itself!

SInce Harley is a Princess, with Ryden this agitated, he cannot help but blame the innocent Princess

"B-brother... i-it w-was n-not me" Harley forced out those words which was really hard considering how much force Ryden was using to choke his neck

Hearing that, Ryden threw the princess causing Harley's back to collide with the wall and he immediately cough continously

"All of you, help me find my wife or none of you will leave this room alive!" Ryden shouted, his aura and killing intent exploding

All the people around felt as if they just met the God of death himself. The aura and the killing intent was just too suffocating as if that alone was enough to kill them

As much as Harley wanted to take some time to recover, even though he was a spoiled brat he actually was also not dumb or too naive. He can understand that the priority right now is to find Clyde

"B-brother... l-let's look for some c-clues. W-where did you last met b-brother in law?" Harley said and Ryden acted as if he was just struck by lightning

Right! Clues!

His wife is really smart and kidnapping incidents are not outside of the things he thought might happen. If Clyde was kidnapped or in the extremely low chance that Ryden was kidnaped, they already talked about what they should do

The first thing is to look for clues. It can be blood, hair, torn pieces of clothes or any possession that they have with them that can be recognized by the other

Ryden just panicked too much that he momentarily forgot about that

"Clues... clues" Ryden muttered before he turned to look all around him. He was trying to find any sort of clue that would help him find his wife

Fortunately, it did not take that long before Ryden notices the blood near the window

"Blood" Ryden said as he went through the window. and look outside of it

If one were to merely walk, they might not notice the spots in the ground. Clyde's blood was mixed with his saliva causing its color to become paler. Not to mention, with the time that passed that the blood was exposed to the oxygen in the air, it already started to dry and turn black in color

In haste, Ryden jumped down from the window as he followed the trail of blood but it seems to have stopped in a certain area

Ryden forces his usually lazy mind to think as he stared around him. His facial expressions were too ferocious that many people was trying to avoid him

However, because of the time constraint, Ryden cannot afford to think like a detective and as a result, he grabbed a random seller by the collar

"Tell me anything that happened at that spot for the past minutes!" Ryden said in urgency, not thinking about how rude it was to grab someone by their collar

"W-what..." the innocent seller can't quite comprehend what is happening and Ryden do not have time to waste on him

Ryden raised his hand and a blood red sword made from magic appeared in his hand

"Tell me the things that happened at that spot if not, I will kill all of you!" Ryden shouted and he even showed his might by thrusting down his sword into the ground

The sword pierce through the hard ground, showing how easy it would be if Ryden were to decide on using the sword against people

As a result, the people around think hard to give an answer and they realized that there were carriages parked in that area for quite a long time earlier

Ryden questioned them where the carriage went and the direction was given to him. He did not waste any time as he run towards the direction that the townspeople pointed at and only when he reached outside of the town did he saw the trail of blood again 

Ryden did not want to delay by getting himself a horse and he just run at full speed

When the carriage stops, it was in front of an old and wornout house in the middle of the mountains, and only then did the assassins that Clyde actually killed the ones with him

If that was not enough, Clyde even became a sadist in their eyes as he actually made tons of wounds on the dead bodies. The dead assassins look as if they were just tortured!

How vicious of Clyde to do something like that!

"You bitch" the assassins said before one of them grabbed him by the hair and Clyde did not bother resisting. He killed the three with him using the surprise element but not all the assassins that kidnapped him

As for the wounds, with Clyde's dangerous situation, how could he possibly weaken himself by hurting his body to draw some blood?

Clyde is not a human with an endless amount of blood. He would be weakened and even passed out if he were to just used his own blood to leave the trail. As such, he can only use the blood of the enemies he had personally killed

Since Clyde actually made a fool out of them, aside from this being just worked, the assassins now have animosity with him

"Our boss said that we must capture you alive but they did not say that we can't beat you until you are almost dead" one of the assassins said and after that, they started dragging Clyde inside that worn out and dirty house

What happened inside was not a surprise as the assassins vented their anger towards him by beating him up

This was the most painful physical pain that Clyde ever experienced from other people. Even the Duchess would at most hit him a few times to vent his anger. These assassins are different though. They are planning to beat him until he was on the brink of death

This is their way of avenging their colleagues' death even though it was them that is at wrong here for kidnapping Clyde even though he does nothing to them before
