Chapter 40 - NOT EDITED YET

With a smile of cruelty, Clyde tore the notebook in half before throwing the pages around him, scattering them as a result

"Y-you... what are you doing?!" The butler ask, the dangerous feeling he had in his heart strengthening

Wasn't that the evidence of the butler's crime? Why did the Princess Consort tore it in half and even threw it as if they were nothing but normal papers?

However, before the Butler can figure out what was going on, a loud sound of crisp slap already entered his ears

The butler's eyes stared at Clyde in shock. What did this omega do? Was he out of his mind? Was he insane? Why would he slap himself? For what?

The butler's mind was filled with questions but before he soon found out the answers to them

After slapping himself hard to the point that his cheeks turned red and they might even be a bit bruised, Clyde opened the bedroom door and run out while making sure to squeeze out a few droplets of tears

"H-help!" Clyde shouted pitifully. His voice was loud enough and the servants that are only at the side of the end of the hallway immediately heard him

The servant hurried to check on the Princess and their benefactor just to see him running with swollen cheeks and tear stained face

No matter who looks at him, they all would think that Clyde was looking really miserable

It seems like he just received a hard slap as for who would be atrocious to do that? The maids also want to know. As such, they hurried into the Princess's side to ask what happened to him

"Y-Your Highness, your cheeks! What happened to them?!" Eriz asked in concern

As the maid closest to Clyde and also one of the few original maids that returned, his concern for his master was completely genuine

He might be the same as Ryden, a dimwitted person but he was also sincere. Clyde already made sure that he wasn't a spy

It made Clyde a feel guilty to make people worry like this towards him but he don't have a choice. Only when the Manor was fully cleaned of spies would he be able to make more moves

"Huhuhu, t-the butler..." Clyde answered and he even choked. It's like he was holding a lot of grievances to the point that even speaking became a hard thing to do

"The butler again?! How dare he hurt Your Highness! This is treason!" Eriz cried out in resentment 

In the past, the butler already did a crime. He tried to frame Clyde of hitting him in the nuts. He even beg the Prince to chase his own wife away

Although that was a crime normally punished with death, maybe because he was working for Ryden for a long time, the Prince didn't kill or chase him out

However, now, not only did he he insult the Princess, he even hurts him physically! No matter who hear of this incident, they would all think that the butler is tired of living already!

As expected, the maid's impression of the butler plummeted even lower than it already is

"This is too much!"

"How dare the butler do this to Your Highness?!"

"We must inform the Prince!"

The maids reacted negatively but Clyde just continue crying pitifully until one of the maid ask him a question he was waiting to receive

"Your Highness, why did the butler slap you?" 

With that, Clyde raises his head to show his teary eyes and gave his answer. "I-I was checking the M-Manor's accounts and f-found some oddities in it. I-I know that it was t-the butler that was t-taking care of it b-before and I a-ask him about it. B-but w-who would have thought that h-he will r-react like this" Clyde cried out

Hearing his words, the maids probably only except Eriz realized what happened and why the butler reacted like that

The Princess might have found trails of the butler's crime of embezzling the Manor's funds and when confronted about it, he raised a hand against the weak and frail Clyde!

This theory seems really plausible and the maids lookes at each other before nodding their heads and they all charged straight to the master bedroom

Inside, they saw the butler hastily picking out papers from the ground

Although these maids are still quite young, that was all more the reason why they are hotblooded

They can't believe that their kind benefactor would be harmed by this stinky old butler

They are all furious especially Clyde's personal maid

"Ugly butler, how dare you hurt His Highness?!" Eriz shouted before charging straight to the butler

He grab the few remaining white strands of the butler's hair tightly, snapping some of them in the process

"A-aww! L-let go of me! H-how dare a mere maid hurt the Head Butler of the Manor?!" The butler said back angrily but his unrepentant attitude just further fueled the maid's anger

As a result, the young maids except for Eriz ganged on the already old butler and almost beat him to death

When Ryden returned from his trip in the city with his friend, the atmosphere in the Manor was different than before

Although the Manor was usually oppressive it was only because of Ryden. But since after the orphans became the maids, although Ryden would still go out of control from time to time, none of them got hurt thanks to the Princess calming his Prince

As such, the Manor is already starting to become lively. However, that little bit of life that the Manor regained instantly vanishes

"Boss, is it just me or the atmosphere is different than before?" David can't help but ask. He was not as dumb as Ryden and was relatively normal. As such, he can feel and realize these changes

As for Ryden, he might not notice it at normal times but since he already knew that this would happen, he was not clueless or surprise

To start the show, Ryden turned on his acting mode again

"Speak, what happened here?" Ryden asks to the nearby maids and they fearfully explained the situation to him

They were afraid that after hearing it, Ryden would go out of control right on the spot and in fact, their fear doesn't seem that wrong

When Ryden heard that his wife got hurt, his aura turned sharp as if there were knives pointed at the maid's necks and they didn't dare to move

In no time, Ryden hurried to where his wife was with David following behind him

The brute man stared at his boss thinking that there is something weird with his boss but he just can't point it out

When Ryden saw Clyde again, he saw him being comforted by Eriz and the orphans that he hired as maids

In his opposite side was the butler that is being glared at by the maids. Although the butler should have higher authority than the maids, none of them are afraid of him anymore

In fact, they are all angry at him as if making one wrong move would make the maids beat him to death again

"Wife!" Ryden called out hastily and his aura alone pushed the maids away from Clyde and he replaced them

When Clyde raised his head and his swollen cheeks showed, Ryden's eyes darkened

This time, it wasn't just his great acting skills but Ryden really felt angry

He already knows that Clyde will inflict self harm but knowing and seeing it are two completely different things

To think that his wife has to hurt himself just to get rid of a mere butler. Just how unreliable Ryden was?

Although the feelings they have with each other was not love at least not yet, as they are wed with each other, Ryden naturally fet responsibile for his omega

As a result, his anger flared. His reddened eyes stared at the butler and in just a blink of an eye, he charges at him

Without any hint of mercy, Ryden showed just why he is considered as a wargod and is feared by many. His palm covered the entirety of the trembling butler's face

"Y-Your High—" the butler's words were cut off as his head was slammed in the hard floor

His face instantly bled and his bones in it broke especially to the ones in his nose

Ryden did it in a decisive and merciless manner that it made the maid's heart turned cold especially after seeing the ferocious expression in the Prince's face

There are only two people that felt different inside them. The first one is David that feels proud of his boss' way of protecting his wife

The second was the said wife. Clyde was merely surprised. Didn't they plan for Ryden to kill the butler in one blow because of 'anger'

He was just faking it but why does it feels so real? It cannot be that he was really angry, right?
