"Over there! Yuudachi, on your left!" (Agano)

"Got it poi!" (Yuudachi)

Yuudachi fired a torpedo at the retreating Abyssal destroyer, sinking it immediately.

"That's all of them." (Murasame)

"Why did a heavy Abyssal fleet show up so near the base?" (Zuihou)

"These things happen from time to time. They are usually small fries though."

An abyssal fleet with Ro-class destroyers, Ru-class battleship and a Wo-class carrier suddenly spawned near the base. Yamashiro got damaged in the previous sortie in the east, so I got Murasame to sortie with the rest.

Then again, this is a rare occurrence. It's usually I-class destroyers that spawn near our waters. Oh, whatever. I'll just include this in my daily report.

It has been a few days since Zuikaku and Shoukaku were brought back to Azur Lane. I know both of them apologized to Zuihou for the problems back then, but that's all I know. I didn't ask what happened between the time I left and returned. Although I can make a guess, since the four of them were chatting happily when I returned to the office.

"Yo, Admiral! I'm back!" (???)

That familar voice and the sound of the door swinging open violently, only one person has that habit.

"Tenyruu, how many times have I told you to knock before- What the hell did you bring in?!?!"

As I looked up from my report to face Tenyruu, I was greeted with the sight of her carrying the jellyfish-looking headpiece from a Wo-class. How did she even get that?

"Hahaha! Isn't it cool? I should put this up as a trophy in my room." (Tenyruu)

"Tatsuta will freak out at you if she sees that thing. That's not the point! Why did you bring that back?!"

"It's fine, isn't it? It's not like it's still alive." (Tenyruu)

"In the first place, the fact that it hasn't disappeared yet means its still alive!"

When an Abyssal is destroyed, it will immediately sink into the ocean, along with any piece that got detached from it. Even if a live is brought out of the water before it can sink, it will dissipate into black dust soon after. Tenryuu and Tatsuta are the only ones with bladed weapons, so engaging in close-combat and decapitating abyssals is common practice for them. I can imagine Tenryuu cut the head off a Wo-class carrier in order to get that, but there is no way it can maintain its original shape. Although it does not have the usuall green glow from its eyes, there is still a chance that it's alive.

"Don't worry. I already shot and stabbed it a few times. There are no planes in this thing too. It's not moving or reacting, so it's definitely dead." (Tenyruu)

I know Tenyruu is a little crazy, not as her sister though, but this is too far. Look at her, smiling like she won the lottery or something. That thing is dangerous.

"Tenyruu, I know you want to keep that...head, but it's too dangerous. At least, let Akashi run a thorough check on it then we can decide whether to let you keep it."

"Oh come on. I'm telling you, it's dead already. Look." (Tenyruu)

Tenryuu started shaking it violently, it's tentacles flopping along with the motion.

"See. It's not even reacting." (Tenyruu)

"Just bring it to Akashi for checking."

"Oh come on. Akashi will just take it apart. It's much better to keep it like this." (Tenyruu)

"Admiral, we're back." (Zuihou)

"What the?! Tenyruu-san, why are you holding onto that?!" (Agano)

The main fleet came in and immediately recoiled upon seeing Tenyruu's 'trophy'.

"Haha! Isn't it cool?"

"Cool? More like gross." (Suzuya)

"Why hasn't it disappear yet?" (Shigure)

"Who cares? It's already dead anyway." (Tenyruu)

Zuihou took a closer look at the Wo-class head piece.

"It does look like its dead." (Zuihou)

"See, Admiral. Even your girlfriend thinks so." (Tenyruu)

"Zuihou, I don't think you should get close to that thing."

As soon as Zuihou poked it with her finger, a green glow flashed from its eye sockets. The tentacles immediately latched on to Zuihou body and pulled itself towards her. I knew it! It was playing dead this whole time!

"KYAAA!!! Get it off me!" (Zuihou)

The tentacles squimed about, making its way through the gaps of her clothes.

"No... Stop..." (Zuihou)

"Get some distance between those two. Tenyruu, cut those tentacles!"

Suzuya and Agano pulled on the headpiece while the three destroyers held Zuihou in place. Tenyruu took out her sword and made a swift cut through the four tentacles, causing the six of them fell on the floor. Some purplish liquid oozed out from the stumps of the tentacles.

"Zuihou, are you okay?"

Her clothes were wet and messed up.

"Did it go inside anywhere bad?" (Suzuya)

"I'm okay. And no, it did not." (Zuihou)

"How did the tentacles feel?"

I meant to ask that a little joke.

"Gross! It was so slimy and the way it moved around..."

She shivered a little. Good thing she only felt disgusted. I was afraid she might be traumatised by this.

"Ugh... I'm going to take bath." (Zuihou)

Zuihou got up and left the office.

"Wanna join her, Admiral?" (Suzuya)

Good idea. It's een a while since we bathed together.

"Wah. You are seriously thinking about it..." (Suzuya)

"Admiral, Yamashiro is still in there, you know?" (Murasame)

Oops. I almost forgot that they have learnt to figure out what I'm thinking.

"Ahem. Tenyruu, don't you ever bring something like that back here ever again."

"Got it..." (Tenyruu)

"Now he is trying to change the subject." (Murasame)

"Shut up!"
