Chapter 431 - Tears and a Kiss

It was totally quiet in the Sky Clinic. Blue smoke was fuming from the good-evil tripod. A smile appeared on the face of the tripod.

Su Ya was a kind girl. She had initially become a thief for the sake of the children of the Sunshine Orphanage. Thereafter, she had helped Ning Tao to look for patients with merit who needed help and had even sponsored those patients. These were all kind deeds that helped her accumulate a sizable amount of merit of good intention.

If it were anyone else, Ning Tao wouldn’t have hesitated at all. He would have written a prescription slip and his job would be done after he completed the treatment. But she was Su Ya, the girl he saw as his younger sister. To cure her meant that he would have to sever his ties with her. He would remember her but she would no longer remember him.

Ning Tao placed Su Ya on the floor in the middle of the clinic and then took off his Heavenly Gem Garment to cushion her head. He had never treated any other patient this way. This was only because she was Su Ya. He didn’t want to let her experience any discomfort.

Ning Tao placed a Fine Elixir into Su Ya’s mouth.

A Primary Fine Elixir was like a solid form of energy, immediately melting once consumed. A few minutes later, Su Ya gradually opened her eyes. She saw light, the roof, and Ning Tao. Very quickly, she reacted, “Brother… I…”

Ning Tao grabbed her hand and said gently, “Don’t get worked up. You’re injured.”

These words triggered Su Ya’s memories, she grew anxious again. “The children…”

Ning Tao said, “The children are fine. Qing Zhui is taking care of them. Those bad guys have been chased away; you don’t have to worry.”

He didn’t mention that he and Qing Zhui had killed those people. At this point, he didn’t want to leave her with any bad impressions or painful memories.

“Brother, what is this place?”

“This is my clinic.”

“This is your clinic? What a weird place… why haven’t you ever brought me here to visit?” Su Ya’s tone contained a sense of dissatisfaction.

Ning Tao said, “I wasn’t trying to hide it from you intentionally. It was safer for you if you didn’t know about some things.”

This was the reason why he had not returned to the Sunshine Orphanage for a long time. He was the go-between of good and evil, destined to be the “punisher” to stand against evil-doers. He had no shortage of enemies. If he had visited the orphanage regularly, it would have been used to threaten him or it would be a target for their revenge. But that night, his worst fear came to pass, regardless of all his precautions.

Su Ya was struggling to get up, but her wounds would be pulled as soon as she moved. She was in such pain that she was gasping intensely.

Ning Tao held her shoulder. “Don’t move, your injury is very serious.”

Su Ya was instantly tensed up. “Brother, will I die? I’m so young, I… don’t want to die.”

Ning Tao consoled her with a gentle voice, “You won’t die. Your brother is a miracle doctor. I can cure you.”

Su Ya moved her head slightly. After seeing the horrifying wound on her stomach, tears welled in her eyes and with a shaking voice she said, “My stomach… will the wound leave a scar? I don’t want a scar, it’s so ugly…”

“No, it won’t,” Ning Tao said. Tears also welled in his eyes. He hurriedly turned around; he didn’t want her to see his tears. He opened the small medicine chest and took out the ledger of bamboo slips, then he placed it on Su Ya’s lap.

He had already made the choice. Even though it was difficult, he had to face it.

It wasn’t just for the rest of Su Ya’s life. He also had his own reasons, or rather, he had arrived at a realization.

“There is no end in this sea of karma. I drift alone in its midst.”

This was the third line of Your Text. Was it not referring exactly to a go-between of good and evil like him? The kinship and friendship ordinary people could have were a luxury to him. The villains who opposed him couldn’t kill him but they could harm his family and friends to take revenge on him. His opponents were increasingly strong, and their forces were growing bigger. To advance, he had to cut off all of his secular ties.

Jiang Hao and Qing Zhui were different because they were demons. They were also practitioners and did not belong to the secular world. They also had the ability to protect themselves, while ordinary people like Su Ya and Ge Ming did not.

“Brother, what are you thinking about?” Su Ya asked.

Only then did Ning Tao snap out of his thoughts. He wiped the corners of his eyes, and he already had a smile on his face when he faced Su Ya again. “Nothing, I’m diagnosing you.”

“I trust you. My brother is a miracle doctor,” Su Ya said. She slowly relaxed after adjusting to this environment; with Ning Tao present, the anxiety she felt when she had just woken up was gone.

Ning Tao opened the ledger.

Content appeared on the ledger: “Su Ya, born in the year 2000, a person of hard virtue. Her primary kind act is taking care of orphans, taking up responsibilities of a mother despite not being one. 31 of such cases amount to 93 points of merit of good intention. Her second kind act is taking care of the elderly, three cases, amounting to 15 points of merit of good intention. Her third is helping people, 22 cases, amounting to 44 points of merit of good intention… However, she turned into a thief despite being able-bodied. She committed 84 cases of theft, amounting to 42 points of sin of evil intention. With her evil intention offset from her kindness, she still possesses 101 points of merit of good intention. A prescription pact for merit of good intention can be written to cure her with her merit in exchange.”

Su Ya was indeed a good girl.

Seeing such a diagnosis, Ning Tao could not control his tears once again.

At this point, Su Ya said, “Brother, I have a very odd feeling… I think I’ve understood something…you…”

This was due to the ledger’s possession.

Ning Tao held his tears back, trying his hardest to force a smile. “Don’t think needlessly, I’ll write a prescription, you’ll sign it then I would be able to treat you.”

“Sign? Sign what?”

“Don’t ask anymore. This clinic has its own rules. Even though we’re siblings, we cannot break the rules,” Ning Tao said, then turned around to get a prescription slip and a pen, placing it on the small medicine chest beside him to draft Su Ya’s merit of good intention prescription pact.

“Brother, are you hiding something from me?” Su Ya asked.

Ning Tao could no longer hold back his tears, tears flowed from his eyes.

“Am… I going to forget you like the old director?” Su Ya asked. She looked like she was starting to lose control of her emotions.

Ning Tao did not dare to turn around and look into her eyes and could only say, “No, you’re my sister, how would you forget me?”

“But the old director…” Su Ya wanted to speak but hesitated. She was unsure.

The merit of good intention prescription pact had been drafted. Ning Tao wiped away the tears from the corner of his eyes, he turned around and placed the pen and pact by Su Ya’s hand.

Su Ya lifted her head slightly, looking at her merit of good intention prescription pact. That odd feeling in her heart had grown stronger. If her heart had been clouded in mystery previously, then at this moment, that cloud was dissipating.

Ning Tao endured his urge to cry and said, “Sister, just sign it, trust me, you won’t forget me.”

This was a white lie, but also a promise. There would definitely be a day when he would unravel the secret of this clinic, taking control over it like a magic tool. By then, he would be able to change the rules and recover all of Su Ya’s memories associated to him!

Two streams of tears rolled down Su Ya’s cheeks.

Ning Tao grabbed her hand, his voice choked, “Sister, I… if there were any other choice, I will not be doing this. Trust me, this is for your good, you…should sign it.”

Su Ya looked at Ning Tao, “You’re lying to me.”

Ning Tao stayed silent; he could not admit to it.

Su Ya was still tearing up, but an odd smile appeared on her face, “Brother, I have a wish. If you could fulfill it, then I’ll sign.”

Ning Tao looked at her. “What wish is it? Tell me, I’ll definitely fulfill it for you.”

“Kiss me,” Su Ya said.

Ning Tao was stunned.

“I like you, but I know that you don’t like me so you see me as a little sister. I don’t want to be your sister. I don’t know if I would forget you like the old director did… I’ll tell you a secret, I dreamed of you often. In my dreams, we were very happy, your kiss is very gentle…” Her gaze was gentle, so was her voice, “Could you kiss me?”

Ning Tao did not hesitate at all, bending over to kiss Su Ya’s lips. Two teardrops fell from his eyes, falling into Su Ya’s eyes.

Tears and tears combined, lips and lips touched.

There would always be a kind of relationship in the world which was as pure as spring water from the mountains. It was short-lived but precisely so was it extremely precious.

“Remember me, okay?” Su Ya’s voice was muffled.

Ning Tao lifted his head and smiled. “How could I possibly forget you?”

Su Ya smiled brightly at Ning Tao. “The time I’ve spent with you are the happiest moments of my life. Thank you for appearing in my life, brother.”

Ning Tao caressed Su Ya’s face, speaking gently, “Sign it.”

“Let me look at you one last time, I want to remember you,” Su Ya said with a smile.

Ning Tao also smiled but his tears were falling even more profusely.

Su Ya lifted that pen and signed on her merit of good intention prescription pact.

Blue smoke rushed and enveloped her. Even though she was so near, Ning Tao could no longer see her.

“Ah—” Ning Tao yelled furiously, his voice echoed inside the clinic.

The blue smoke dissipated, Su Ya was lying quietly on the floor. Her eyes were shut, she was soundly asleep.

Ning Tao looked at her while chanting, “There is no end in this sea of karma. I drift alone in its midst.”

His sadness was still present and his sense of loneliness was still very strong, but he was still preserving a sense of peacefulness in his heart and his belief was unwavering.

“Whether you are Nicholas Conway or Lin Qinghua, how could you lay a finger on a defenseless child and innocent people. If you had no baseline, neither will I and I will make you pay! I want everyone to know that, as long as you touch my people, regardless where you are, I will take your life!” A fire of rage was blazing in Ning Tao’s eyes.

A few minutes later, Ning Tao placed Su Ya on her bed.

Qing Zhui reached out to wipe Ning Tao’s tears. She did not say anything because she knew that any consolation would be meaningless. Neither did her man need to be consoled.

Ning Tao took Qing Zhui’s hand and left Su Ya’s room.

With the door closed, they would never acknowledge each other again even if they ever met in the future.
