Su Xiaonai watched as Su Jiaojiao straightened up awkwardly from the couch. She smiled, took out her phone, and waved at Su Jiaojiao’s face.

“What do you think would happen if I post this online?”

Su Jiaojiao gritted her teeth and swallowed her tears. She glared at Su Xiaonai, as if refusing to admit her defeat.

Su Xiaonai would never pity Su Jiaojiao, so she continued with exaggeration.

“I think the whole world would see how embarrassing you are. You’d be treated like a lunatic every day and become a laughing stock.

“Am I right?”

Su Xiaonai raised an eyebrow.

Su Jiaojiao rubbed her eyes, her face shifting between shock and anger. She looked indignant as words jumped out of her mouth one by one.

“What do you want?”

Su Xiaonai was tired of teasing Su Jiaojiao, so she cut straight to the chase.

“I can delete it, but you’ll have to do something about the news about me you posted online.

“I don’t think I’m asking too much, am I?”

After a long silence, Su Jiaojiao nodded reluctantly.

Su Xiaonai wasn’t going to let Su Jiaojiao get away with it this easily. She added aggressively.

“I better see some results tomorrow, or I’ll post all of these online. Don’t come crying to me then.”

Su Jiaojiao was truly afraid that her reputation would be damaged.

Finally she offered a response with some sincerity.

“I understand. Don’t worry about it.”

After getting a satisfactory answer, Su Xiaonai smiled brightly and looked around.

Feeling that there’s no need to stay any longer, she left the bar.

Su Xiaonai didn’t leave through the front door; instead, she went around and left through the back door. She barely closed the door when she turned around and saw a man blocking her way.

Su Xiaonai wanted to pat his shoulder and ask him to make way.

Just as she was about to do so, as if reading her thoughts, the man turned around. A familiar face entered Su Xiaonai’s sight.

It was Qi Lingyan.

The orange glimmer from the streetlamps rained on his face, and Su Xiaonai realized how handsome he was. His facial features were so exquisite that they seemed to have been carved with intention.

Every part of him was perfect.

Too bad he talked, Su Xiaonai sighed to herself.

“Can you move a little?”

Qi Lingyan didn’t seem to notice Su Xiaonai’s words as he took a step forward, closing the distance between them.

“Why do you keep circling around me? Are you just trying to seduce me?”

Su Xiaonai was at a loss for words. She had really underestimated Qi Lingyan’s arrogance. Why was he so confident?

Did he think that the whole world revolved around him?

“You’re not really worthy of being seduced.”

Su Xiaonai didn’t want to waste her breath on Qi Lingyan and answered his question without hesitation.

Upon hearing this answer, Qi Lingyan froze on the spot. His mouth opened and closed as he repeated Su Xiaonai’s words.

“I’m not worthy?”

Thinking that Qi Lingyan didn’t understand her words, Su Xiaonai quickly nodded.

Qi Lingyan turned around and slowed his breathing. He chuckled out loud in disbelief.

“You really are something, Su Xiaonai.”

Su Xiaonai didn’t know what was wrong with Qi Lingyan, but she couldn’t care less. She just wanted to leave this godforsaken place.

Su Xiaonai took a step to the right, and Qi Lingyan followed suit, blocking her way.

Qi Lingyan gritted his teeth with veins almost popping out on his forehead, a warning of the storm to come.

His coldness had caused the temperature around them to drop.

Su Xiaonai’s right eyelid twitched. It felt ominous.

Unwilling to give up, Qi Lingyan asked another question.

“Am I not charming enough?”

Su Xiaonai hadn’t expected Qi Lingyan to ask her that. Pausing for a moment, she gave it some deep thought and said seriously.

“Not for me.”

At these words, Qi Lingyan turned angry almost instantly. Him. Not charming enough. There were countless women who would do anything just to crawl in bed with him.

How could this woman talk like this!

Sensing another question from Qi Lingyan, Su Xiaonai quickly stopped him before he could say anything.

“Stop asking questions. I don’t like you, and I’m leaving.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Su Xiaonai walked around Qi Lingyan and left the alley. Qi Lingyan turned around and tried to catch a glimpse of her shadow, but she was gone.

Lost in an ocean of people.

Now hailing herself a taxi, Su Xiaonai considered telling the driver her address. Somehow a thought popped into her head.

She suddenly wanted to buy some pastries.

She didn’t know any bakery nearby. Puzzled, she asked the driver.

“Sir, do you know any good pastry shop nearby?”

The driver looked at Su Xiaonai in the rearview mirror and said without hesitation.

“Yep. But miss, are you OK with old-fashioned pastries?”

Su Xiaonai stopped to think about it. This would be her first time having an old-fashioned pastry, and it sounded exciting.

“Sure.”

The driver gestured OK.

“Then I’ll take you to one that’s nearby, called Wind Chime Pastry.”

Su Xiaonai replied, “No problem.”

Ten minutes later, the taxi stopped outside a small alley. Su Xiaonai got out of the car and handed some cash to the driver.

The driver thanked her and showed her the directions kindly.

“Just keep walking until you see a sign with wind chimes attached to it. That would be it.”

Su Xiaonai thanked him.

After the taxi drove off, Su Xiaonai followed the driver’s instructions and walked into the alley. It wasn’t long before she saw a shop with wind chimes attached to its door.

Su Xiaonai walked over quickly, and a mellow fragrance flowed towards her.

It made her mouth water. She swallowed.

Even her pace picked up. As she stepped into the store, the wind chime rang.

A middle-aged woman with a gentle smile walked over cordially.

“What do you need?”

Su Xiaonai blinked and didn’t know how to reply, since this was her first time buying old-fashioned pastries.

At the end of the day, the pastries were intended for the kids at home. She didn’t know what they would like.

Su Xiaonai told the middle-aged woman about her two children, and the woman immediately came up with an idea.

She brought Su Xiaonai to the mung bean cookies and said,

“How about some mung bean cookies? Sweet but not too greasy.”

Su Xiaonai took a look at the round cookies and made up her mind.

The woman, mistaking Su Xiaonai’s silence for disbelief, picked up a piece with her gloved hands and handed it to Su Xiaonai.

“Try it. It’s one of our signature pastries.”

Su Xiaonai didn’t expect the woman to be so cordial. She paused, then opened her mouth and took a small bite.

The cookie’s outer shell was clear and crispy, so crunchy that small pieces fell from Su Xiaonai’s hand. The mung bean filling wrapped inside was soft and delicious, with a fragrant smell.

Su Xiaonai’s eyes lit up as she muttered words of praise.

“This tastes so good..”
