Chapter 81 - Fierce Little Girl

Unedited

When Ming Yue returned from the kitchen carrying the dishes, she saw Wan Yi Jun and Han Ze Min arguing in the corridor leading to the dining room, with no sense of their surroundings. The moment, they noticed Ming Yue's presence, both of them, abruptly went silent as if nothing had happened here.

"Is everything alright, Yi Jun?" Ming Yue asked in a lowered voice, giving a side glance at Han Ze Min, whose face darkened at the very moment when she talked to his cousin so sweetly.

"Yes, give it to me." He gave a soft smile and reached out to hold the dishes from her hands.

"No, it is alright. I can carry this much." She argued as she refused to hand over the dishes. It was true that her palm was injured, but that was a mere laceration, but watching how Wan Yi Jun worries over her wound, she couldn't help but wonder what's wrong with him.

"This is what I said." Han Ze Min scoffed as he glared at Wan Yi Jun, who was acting like Mr goody-two-shoes in front of him.

"What?" Wan Yi Jun and Ming Yue simultaneously reacted to his remark in annoyance,

"I have never seen young master Wan helping out any servants in this mansion all these years." Han Ze Min paused for a moment and moved towards Ming Yue while scrutinizing her top to bottom, "And I don't think maids in this house address their master by name either."

Hearing his words,

"This is what I told you earlier, master."

"Just ignore him, he is crazy."

"Hmm..."

"This is scallops, it's better that you don't eat it."

"Who told you that I liked pan-fried dumplings?"

"He did?"

"He said that you are allergic to shellfish and make something else. Yi Jun has told me that you enjoy eating dumplings."

"Please sit down, miss."

"I must say that Captain is too lucky that he could eat every food made by your hands."

"Why don't you open a restaurant instead of being a maid?"

"Should I open a restaurant?"

"I will think about it later when I save a lot,"

"My father owns a bank, I can ask him to give you some funds."

"Even if I get funds, it's too much to manage right now since I'm new to this place."

"You are not from the capital? But you don't have an accent?

"No. I'm from Zhi Ruo."

"Zhi Ruo from dragon city."

"Yes, have you been there officer?"

"No...I have met someone from Zhi Ruo,"

"It's no wonder that you met someone from Zhi Ruo, people often migrate from that barren land to capital for better opportunities."

"Barren land?"

"Hmm, it is a border island, with no proper facilities or infrastructure."

"Those were two university students, orphans."

"Orphans are not a new thing in Zhi Ruo, most of the kids born over there lost their parents and family in the borderland dispute."

"Mainland people often treat us pushovers or illegal immigrants from Daisun who got no power here."

"Those kids were university students in one of the prestigious universities in the capital and got themselves in a bit of trouble."

"Sir Lao, why are you ruining the mood? You can talk about the case all week, but not on weekends."

"I'm sorry...If I said anything to offend you."

"No sister, Sir Lao is not feeling good. Apparently, we hit a dead-end in the recent case we investigated."

"That murder case on new year?"

"Oh, you knew about it?"

"It's all over in the news."

"Well, media houses don't know our struggle. They just spew nonsense."

"They spew nonsense because you kept people in darkness."

"Even police officers are struggling in darkness, without any ."

"Who pushed the police into darkness?"

"No matter how much evidence we collect, we always end up in the same place we started, the victim was murdered due to personal vengeance. But even after interrogating literally everyone related to that victim, we still couldn't find anyone who would have hatred towards the victim."

"Have you checked about her past relationships?"

"She doesn't have any past relationships."

"Who doesn't have a past relationship? I'm damn sure that everyone who has

"Ming Yue, are we really having this conversation at the dining table?"

"I know. The whole point of having this meal is to get your minds relaxed, so sorry for the inconvenience caused by me.  Please have your lunch."

"Captain, your maid is quite fierce."

"Yes, she is."

"You want to spar with me?" Ming Yue's voice sounded elated when she asked to confirm whatever Wan Yi Jun suggested was true or not. If it's true then it would be the best ever thing that happened in her life.

Sparring with Wan Yi Jun was one among the things that she had looked forward to, from the very first day when she wore the boxing gloves.

Whenever someone tried to buzz of her will by quoting that women won't be able to overpower the men in fights, she made sure to prove them wrong.

All these years, she sparred only with men so that no one can look down upon her just because she looked physically weaker than her contenders.

When Wan Yi Jun noticed the unknown happiness gleaming in Ming Yue's face, he wobbled his head to confirm her assumption.

"We can spar...But only when your wounds get healed completely." He suggested and unknowingly drifted his eyes onto her damp hair,

" By the way, did you take a shower?"

"Hmmm." Ming Yue agreed without any delay. Of course, she took a shower, thanks to Wan Yi Jun's extra care towards her injuries. Only she knew how she managed to stay in his bedroom, last night, holding onto the last bit of consciousness. After whatever happened to her in the mansion, she couldn't fall asleep, wondering about the reason why the "ghosts" in the Wisteria gardens chose to attack her, even though she once lived in this place.

Once the dawn broke, she just went back to her room and slept there.

"What about your wounds? How will it get healed if you carelessly wash it every now and then?" Wan Yi Jun didn't hesitate to scold Ming Yue, who stood before him with an aloof face. Normally, people tend to be careful when they get a wound. However, when it comes to Ming Yue, she just seems to become careless.

"Uffo, master...it will be alright." Ming Yue tried to cajole a sulky Wan Yi Jun, something she believed that she was bad at doing. Back at home, she was the one who needed to be cajoled every now and then, because of her austere and rigid personality. However, at Wisteria gardens, she just started to feel that she was taking care of a giant baby who was either sulky or utterly happy all the time.

"The beef has kept for marinating, the custard buns are kept for raising, rice is done, the drinks are done. It...it... seems fine to me..." Ming Yue glanced around at the kitchen and took the account of things that they have done so far.

"Master, why don't you go and get ready to accept the guests? I can manage the rest of things."

"Are you hundred per cent sure about it?" Wan Yi Jun asked while looking at the time on his phone. Of course, they got one more hour before the guests arrive at Wisteria gardens.

Since most of the food items in the lunch were supposed to serve hot, there was no need for them to start making it now itself.

"Hmm. I will...Ming Yue, do me a favour," Wan Yi Jun unwillingly paused in the midsentence and looked directly into Ming Yue's face, "please don't call me "master" while the guests are here."

"Hmm. I will take care of that, Yi Jun." Ming Yue assured him, just like he wanted. She could understand why would the term master make Wan Yi Jun so upset whenever there was someone else is in the room. With their age, it was quick for people to assume that they were a couple with some kind of weird fantasies.

"Call me when you need any help." Wan Yi Jun reminded her once again, before returning to his room to get ready for the party/ get together.

While Wan Yi Jun took a shower, Ming Yue somehow finished the rest of the work in the house and even made the starters.

Just as she kept the custard buns for baking, Ming Yue heard the alarm sound from the security system kept to check the visitors.

"Oh, they are here already," Ming Yue clicked the switch to open the gates and allowed the SUV stopped before Wisteria garden's huge gate.

"Shouldn't I inform him?" Ming Yue mumbled while looking in the direction of the stairs. Well, it is time for Wan Yi Jun to come down after getting ready for the party.

But the very next moment, she heard a car stopping beside the front door, without allowing her to inform Wan Yi Jun.
