Chapter 181 - The Isolated Island (25)

The rope narrowly fell onto the sharp edge of a steep stone and with a sharp pull, the boat was forcefully brought closer to the plateau! The items on Ruan Quixi's body abruptly bulged like a sleeping beast, and the oar a strong downward shift as it rode the waves.

A sharp scraping sound came from underneath the boat, he narrowed his eyes, his mind shifted and he quickly grabbed the inconspicuous camera from the hull of the boat–

The towering waves abruptly grew bigger and the oar in Ruan Quixi's eyes snapped in two but at the same time, the two figures were as fast a phantom and flew from the ship.

A sharp tugging force pulled Ruan Quixi's limbs backward his whole body bulged but his muscles were like cast iron, unshakably approaching the rocks. From behind them, there was a heavy crackling sound and just in time, the makeshift boat was completely shattered by the sea!

The bloody corpses screamed and the empty sockets seemed to be filled with hatred, but as water ghosts, they could never step onto land again and could only be left to wander the cold and lonely sea.

Chu Yi landed on the rock, gasping heavily, there was a feeling of strain in his lower abdomen and the rope left chafed burns all over the white palm. He threw down the rope carelessly and slowly looked around the plateau. The first impression he got was: abandoned.

There were pieces of driftwood on the edges of the cliffs and walking further, there were obvious traces of depression as if something had been dug out from here. The air was silent besides the smell of seawater, and a fishy sweetness permeated the mist.

The plateau wasn't long and the waves crashed against the edges, spraying white vapor into the mist.

Ruan Quixi came over to his side and looked sound quietly, before focusing his mind back on Chu Yi. The glaring white hands were now filled with mottled cuts and blood and obvious green and blue traces were covering his arms.

He furrowed his brows faintly,

"Give me your hands."

Chu Yi raised a brow, but seeing the man's heavy eyes, held them out obediently.

There was no way to give any treatment at the moment, so he could only roughly tear a piece of cloth from his shirt and bound the two slender hands tightly to avoid infection. Once done, they continued exploring in the misty darkness, the rocks were sharp and if not careful, it would be easy to slip and fall, most likely crushing your skull in the process.

The fog was thick and gloomy, bathing the entire plateau in a cold gray, and nothing could not be seen more than ten meters away. Two rows of dim moonlight penetrated mist, dim and cold, stretching the distorted shadows of the intruders silently.

It was difficult to walk on the rocks, and the only visible path was more complicated. Between the cracks of the dense rocks, small streams of foul-smelling dirty seawater scurried through quickly, and a shrill cry from a distant place was extremely terrifying.

The temperature here is much lower than outside.

Not long after they walked, Chu Yi noticed that the dirty water flowing in the cracks of the road seemed to change color.

He smelt another smell in the thick, sour mist.

The moonlight before them suddenly stretched farther.

He asked softly, "What is that?"

Ruan Quixi took a few steps forward, and the halo of the moon suddenly illuminated a large pool of copper water in front of him.

He leaned down and confirmed: this was blood.

The dark mist covered the entire rock plateau; there was the low sound of water crashing against the high rocks and the swaying of tall weeds.

Chu Yi carefully measured the trail of the bloody water and caught sight of something, it was a small hole, and a lot of covered plants were pulled down and fell miserably to the ground.

The hole wasn't tall, just walking in, the full depths could be seen at a glance. The sound of wailing from before came from the winds echoing in the hollow seams.

"Go in?"

Ruan Quixi tilted his heads sideways at him,

"Considering that there is blood, it's not farfetched to believe that there are living creatures on this plateau."

He licked his lips, the salty traces stimulated just senses. After a moment of pondering, Chu Yi spoke up, "You stay out here and keep watch, I'll go in."

Ruan stared at him deeply and a low voice whispered softly, "Ok."

The moment the slender back retreated into the cave, Ruan Quixi felt Chu Yi's breath dissapear, as if he was erased.

Chu Yi calmly looked at the scene on the other side of the cave.

Walking through the tiny streams of blood, a trail of bloody footprints followed behind him. At the end of the stream, an unfamiliar female corpse was nailed to the cave wall by a wooden stake.

The female corpse opened her mouth wide, and the sharp wooden stake was atabbed through the back of her skull. Her expression was horrified and painful, unable to find peace even in death, her dull eyes staring straight ahead.

She was covered in blood, her stomach was completely cut open to and her legs dangled uselessly from her lower body, bloody intestines hung from her abdomen to the ground.

Several clumps of blood were piled up at the feet of the female corpse. Looking closely, it was an unformed baby corpse that had been chopped up.

The mournful cat-like meow resembling a baby came once again, and with the bloody and terrifying scene, it was enough to send chills down the spine.

Chu Yi remained unfazed, instead a tinge of excitement suddenly burst from his eyes, bright and dazzling, wiith a little force, Chu Yi pulled the stake out of the female corpse's mouth.

"It seems that the murderer's strength is not small, he nailed wooden stakes with his bare hands..."

His voice faded in the coldness.

Wthout hesitation, he reached into the mouth of the female corpse. The stench of blood was thick enough to be disgusting, dripping with sticky threads, slender fingers seemed to touch something resembling a ball of paper.

After confirming it, Chu Yi's movements became lighter, and he carefully pinched the slightly hard corner and pulled the paper ball out.

Slender fingers stained with blood unfolded the paper, a word knocked into his eyes, almost instantly his vision blurred.

A scalding hot wind seemed to blow across the tip of his nose, and he narrowed his eyes slightly, accepting the dazzling scene in front of him silently. In the middle of the sea, the rock walls were high but

It couldn't hide the destitute and soul-crushing horrors.

As an isolated island, the villagers are naturally surrounded by lots of land and sea. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that villagers were sitting on top of a pot of gold, fish, fruit, and trees were the most abundant.

The dawn rose across the land and half shrouded the boats as sleeping turtles huddled across the face of the sea. The villagers would wake up at the call of the rooster and go out into the sea, bringing back nets filled with abundant catch, the children would frolic along the beach and cry with joy at the return of their fathers.

However, in his eyes, the scene shifted quickly, the dawn had risen but the villagers only felt despair, the trees had dried up and the soil would no longer grow their crops, their nets stayed empty for days and under the scorching sun.

Some tried to eat the animals that had died from the heat, but it wouldn't take long for the eyes to drown with pus and blood and they would scream, jumping into the sea.

Their bodies were squeezed to the point of deformation, the flesh began to collapse like melted chocolate, and the body that struggled to withstand, had its organs melted into a puddle of pungent liquid, making a "sizzling" as it sank into the surface of the sea.

This was consistent with Granny Li's account–

The scene suddenly shifted and in this way, there were many people huddled on the ground.

Perhaps this can no longer be called a person, but a dense corpse. They prowled on the ground by instinct, and the contact surface between the skin and the ground tore the flesh from their skin and tightly bonded them to the floor.

Many corpses became distorted due to the thermal stiffness, and their limbs twitched strangely as if they were telling the last words they had not left before they died.

Human life was like a punctured balloon.

With a slight touch, it exploded.

Chu Yi watched all this calmly.

These people include the elderly, women, men, and even small children.

Their identities are different, but they all raise their hands before death, want to move forward, and want to live.

Their destination is the outside world.

The boats docked against the sea were crushed by the waves and the once-prosperous village was shrouded in darkness.

This surprisingly wasn't the end, the view quickly shifted to a rather strange place. The starless night was dark and the cold forest was silent, all sounds seemed like he was swallowed by a sponge without the slightest leaks.

There was only the sound of heavy breathing from something in the forest. The darkness dissipated a benevolent and kind stone face lay face up the cold forest floor, in the light that flashed, a drop of blood fell from the statue, wetting the forest floor.

On the end of the statue stood a skinny crow, wailing hoarsely and coldly, exuding an eerie and desolate aura, it flapped its wing and flew up into the sly leaving only a few black feathers to fall gently onto the statue's eyes; the scene was swallowed by darkness again.

The cave finally fell back into silence, his dark pupils were deep, and his long eyelashes were half-covered, like a door to hell, mysterious and unpredictable, and one could not see the slightest emotion.

A cold wind blew softly against the long black hair and Chu Yi suddenly bent the corners of his lips, the night outside the cave reflected in the peach blossom eyes.

The phrase on the paper was: "Greed, the first sin."
