Chapter 118 - The Institute(59)

The voice was like a tsunami that crashed into broad mountains. Huge waves of madness and tyranny engulfed the player's heart, they were like puppets on strings as they performed this bloody and absurd play. Time seemed to slow infinitely, it was if he had been submerged into the deep sea, everything was blurred and muffled, his ears rung with a static noise and his limbs refused to move, as if they weren't his own anymore.

Red lips were bitten harshly by white teeth, the bloody taste in his mouth overflowed and Chu Yi could feel the lingering sting numbing his nerve endings. A drop of sweat slowly traveled down his forehead, gradually marking out a glistening trail from his brows to the fluttering lashes. Red eyes were squinted, slightly uncomfortable, and his eyes glimmering with physiological tears blurred.

His heart seemed to slow, booming inside his skull like a heavy drum.

Chu Yi's eyes gradually narrowed, wet hair stuck to his ears, his breathing was heavier than before, and the feeling of suffocation gradually increased, making him feel as if a heavy, black wall was slowly closing in on him.

In his stagnated vision, he could see the expressions on everyone's face, cold, cruel and excited, a kind of dark enthusiasm from the heart that seemed to be catalyzed to the extreme.

Ba–Dump.

Chu Yi placed a hand to his chest.

Ba–Dump.

Ba–Dump.

A strange feeling from the depths of his heart seemed to rise up like a trapped beast. Irritable, angry, excited, Chu Yi couldn't tell what kind of emotions he was having now. Only the sounds of his own rapidly rising heartbeat could at least confirm one thing.

Ba–Dump–Ba–Dump–Ba–Dump!–

Bruised lips rose into a strange sneer, his body tensing like a beast ready to strike, the heavy weakness was like a shackle being ripped apart forcefully!

Time seemed to be rapidly increasing, the screams and roars, the malice, the hatred. Chu Yi's lips widened happily, a glaring light burst from within his eyes!

"Chu Yi—"

On the opposite side of the room, the sharp, ear-piercing roar spread from crazed and malignant lips. A bitter and rancid smell permeated the venue, like damp mold and rotten flesh.

Chu Yi is very familiar with this taste. In the previous basement exploration, this smell lingered in the atmosphere for a long time and wouldn't dissipate.

The crazed players were rapidly approaching, their eyes were completely scarlet and their movements were strangely coordinated as they barreled towards Chu Yi!

In his head, there seemed to be a wave of cheers all around, longing for the sight of the ref flesh to be torn apart by the cruel hands, in his eyes, the players seemed to carry an almost primitive animalism on their face!

"Crack—"

The sound of something breaking was harsh and loud, even in the frantic shouts around it, it seemed particularly clear.

Chu Yi slowly rolled his wrist, the clamoring in his head growing louder and louder in his mind as if to drive him to madness! Scarlet tongue slowly swiped across the bloody, red lips, the faint metallic scent at the back of his throat was like dry wood being thrown into a burning fire.

A scorching flame ignited in his heart and even the weakness of the limbs could not hide his blazing red eyes.

"Crack–"

In the next second, a man rushed out in front of him and pounced on him with outstretched arms, eyes flashing with ferocious light, longing for blood and death.

Tch–

Chu Yi suddenly grinned, the lines tightened sharply at his waist, the tight and flexible muscle have always seemed weak and fragile, was now boundless force!

Chu Yi abruptly lifted something from the table beside him and slammed it into the head of the pouncing player!

"Bang!–"

With the sound of metal hitting bone, the man was sent flying to the floor with a painful groan, the metal tray in Chu Yi's hand dented from the force!

He lifted his hand and grinned darkly, with a heavy strength he swung his hand outwards and sent the sharp metal tray flying, it spiraled in the air, metal edge glinting coldly before plunging into the shoulder of the player nearest to him!

Blood spurted like a red fountain–

The player cried out painfully.

Chu Yi could feel the strength rapidly leaving his body but the smile on his face grew brighter and brighter.

His foot kicked powerfully and sent the chairs beside him slamming into the oncoming players, stumbling them a few steps back as Chu Yi suddenly rushed towards them!

The player on the floor was used as a stepping stone, his foot slamming into the man's head as he jumped, with a twist of his body, Chu Yi's leg smashed into the ugly face of a man, sending him flying across the room!

Chu Yi carried with him the taste of blood and his foot landed first and without anytime to breath, he brought his fists around and slammed them into a player's chin, legs moving out to sweep the man to the ground!

"Bang!––"

His ears twitched and red eyes dilated into slits,

There was movement behind him–

Without looking back, Chu Yi suddenly slammed his elbow into another man's chest, swiftly dodging the flying fist and smashed his head back heavily!

"Boom–"

An agonized cry came, and the smell of blood became heavier, Chu Yi had broken the man's nose with his head but he didn't give him any time to think, he turned around and grabbed onto the man's head and slammed his knee upwards!

In the next second, his elbow came down heavily onto the back of the man's skull!

The man was sent crashing to the floor!

One foot ground into the man's chest and the other slammed backwards to kick the player coming behind him away; before he could lunge again, Chu Yi suddenly twisted to the side, sending his left foot barelling into the man's neck!

The man choked feeling as if his arteries were blocked and stumbled back–

Chu Yi grinned malicously and his legs tensed, then with a heavy spin, Chu Yi sent a powerful kick into the man's chest sending him flying out to smash against a cluster of tables, life or death unknown!

Every move was aimed at killing, vicious and accurate in the places that would cause the most pain.

A crazed player swung at his head frantically but two slender hands like painful vices, grabbed his wrist and pulled him forward, the man didn't even have time to appreciate the beautiful face before he was lifted into air and thrown over his shoulders with a merciless bang!

The man felt as if all the organs in his body had been jolted out of place.

Broken bones and blood rain, even with his weakening body Chu Yi still managed to defeat the players, however in the end they weren't actually killed.

He exhaled a breath softy and kicked the limp arm of the man beneath him and prepared to examine his burning legs but before he could relax, a bad premonition assaulted him.

His heart skipped a beat and Chu Yi suddenly rolled on the spot and dodged aside.

Although he was prepared for this, the rapidly draining strength inevitably made his reaction speed slower, he dodged but he could not completely avoid the attack.

The sleeves and the cloth on the side of the waist was sharply torn by the sudden attack. The glistening snow-white skin was revealed beneath the fluttering cloth.

He turned his head back.

Nothing.

Chu Yi narrowed his eyes slightly, half arched his back like a cat, adjusted his breathing and gait, while the noise from inside his head was tuned out, ears rightly listening for any movement.

He felt the wind shift behind his ears.

This time Chu Yi didn't choose to avoid it like just now, but suddenly swung behind him, a gleaming red knife appearing in his hands as he slashed at the unknown entity ambushing him!

"Ah!–"

There was the resistance of knife meeting flesh and with an expressionless face, he continued to force the knife in, feeling the body tremble beneath him, his breathing couldn't help but intensify, scarlet eyes narrowing deeply.

He suddenly yanked the knife out, the painful screams got louder and behind him, a player appeared out of thin air, falling to the floor with a heavy wound stabbed deep into his chest.

But before he could turn away, the player suddenly jumped back from the floor and lunged at his back crazily, regardless of the blood flowing from his wound.

His eyes flickered with a singular scarlet light.

Chu Yi, narrowly dodged the sharp knife that the man thrusted towards and grabbed his wrist, with a sinful smile, the man's wrist was dislocated cleanly. The knife fell from his limp hand as he fell to the floor in a heap of blood. Without looking back, Chu Yi caught the fist that came barreling towards him from behind!

However, unexpectedly the man was as slippery as a loach and before he could move the man had escaped from his grip and dodged away before suddenly opening his hands, only for a black muzzle to appear in his hand.

His actions paused.

He seemed to see the man smile strangely before his fingers pointed it towards him.

Guns were not available in the main city, they can only be procured from the Black Treasure Box that was given only to players with high final rating.

There was something wrong.

Chu Yi's eyes narrowed dangerously and he immediately supported the table and made a nimble jump to hide,

"Bang!–"

A bullet smashed into the ground before him.

"Bah—"

Chu Yi stood to dodge again but suddenly his heart palpitated sharply and his legs weakened sending him stumbling to the floor!

His knife fell.

"Bang!–"

He struggled to move!

"Bang!–"

There was a sharp pain that suddenly came from his eyebrows and the sharp smell of sulfur and gunpowder instantly filled his senses.

Blood rained from his forehead.

The bullet had only narrowly missed his skull.

Chu Yi gasped hard, his lungs were trying to absorb the air as if exhausted, his brow bones were scraped, thick blood dripped down the skin, and burnt his head with the heat, his upper and lower eyelashes stuck together, his entire field of vision was suddenly dyed a bright red.

His body has basically reached its limit.

Every muscle was clamoring, and the loose skeleton seemed to be crumbling, with only the last push needed to end it.

The bullet came again, once again only narrowly missing him.

But his eyes were still indifferent and calm, and his pitch-black eyes were like cold stars soaked in water, coldly sweeping his knife that had fallen a few meters away.

Chu Yi's wet hair stuck to his ears, his chest was heavier than before, and the air in the room gradually decreased.

His hand stretched out, fingers straining to reach the knife, but no matter what his hands could not catch it.

Chu Yi panted, and slowly raised his head, and looked at the chaotic scene all around him. The pupils of the red eyes were as deep as an abyss, flashing with a strange luster. He didn't seem to have a fear towards death and he struggled to raise his hand, gently and slowly wiped off the blood that drained from his wound, his face was calm and wave less.

Da, Da, Da.

Chu Yi slowly raised his eyes to the man standing above him, his eyes were dark and obscure, the corners of his blood-stained lips evoked a tiny arc, his voice was dull like rough gravel, and he said quietly:

"If I guessed correctly, you're him."

Just a short sentence but it seemed to carry infinite meanings, the man didn't answer only moved the gun towards Chu Yi's forehead.

From his lips he seemed to hear the man whisper quietly, "Goodbye."

Chu Yi showed a polite smile with a perfect arc, struggled to move his hand from his chest and spent pressed his palm to his chest, and bowed to the empty auditorium to salute.

Like a curtain call.

The man fingers slowly pulled the trigger but before he could do the final move, he seemed to see Chu Yi smile widely.

His brow raised, Chu Yi suddenly pointed behind him and laughed, "I seem to have forgotten to inform you. I'm not fighting alone."

What–

As soon as the man turned around, an iron chain suddenly slammed around his neck, and the huge body of the man was dragged up, two or three meters away the sky and flung to the floor. Something akin to a steel pipe was slammed into his face with a fierce wind.

The man seemed to be dull from shock, and wasn't able to react. His face was covered in blood, and the entire bridge of his nose and cheek bones were smashed to pieces, looking extremely terrifying.

The man struggled and wanted to crawl up but Tang Shun sneered, raised his foot and cracked his ankle with a kick. He pulled the sharp chain at the man's throat, watching as a flow of blood gushed out.

The scarlet glint in the man's eyes seemed to flicker for a moment before disappearing, replaced by confused pain.

The man screamed hoarsely…

Someone raised his knife and rushed at Tang Shun from behind but he was almost immediately smashed in the temple by the angular steel pipe.

The man fell to the ground without even a groan.

Chao Bin kicked his body out of the way, the two steel pipes hit him at the same time and broke his wrists. Chao Bin's arms caught and dragged each crazed player to the front. One kick in the kneecap with each foot made them limp. Clamping the steel pipe, he beat the player horizontally on the head and immediately put them in a dead faint.

There was no mercy in his actions at all.

Tang Shun couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat and his hands that held the iron chain tightened as a result.

"Cough–"

Chu Yi's whose face had been relatively calm even in the face of death, suddenly turned bad.

He felt thirsty, thristier than he's ever felt before, as if all the water in his body had evaporated and in a second he would dry up and crumble into dust!
