Chapter 65 - The Institute (6)

"Alright, Stop scaring him. Let's go."

Tang Shun interrupted Chu Yi's frenzied rant and with that the extreme, fanatical look on Chu Yi's face dropped immediately as he once again returned to his normally impassive look. He didn't care for the dumbfounded Chao Bin behind him and with Tang Shun walking in front , they quickly started their search for the warehouse.

"....."

"..."

Chao Bin in the end, could only catch up to their footsteps, wondering briefly with regret, about the type of perverts he had gotten himself hitched on to.

Nevertheless, it was only after scouring the entire second floor, did they find something of significance but rather it wasn't exactly a warehouse as per say,

This was an operating room , a very old operation room that logically should not even exist in this era and yet here it was.

As for why it could be easily judged that this was an operating room not from this particular time , it was because right in the middle of the dusty, cobwebed room, contained an old wooden operating table with two greying leather straps along the sides and rusty rail bars to prevent the patient from rolling off from seizures. Right above it, a bright oil lamp was the only source of light in the room ; a doctor performing operations in such a disorderly place would have been an absolute torture.

For the patient that is.

Tweezers, hemostats, dulled scalpels, and some dirty cotton balls were placed on the tray of the armrest on the operating table. Empty medicine bottles and injections with half dried and blackened fluid in them scattered across the floor.

Although there is was no explicit horror, this operating room could just as easily send, a freezing chill down your spine.

Because the simple surgical utensils on the operating table and scattered on the floor, clearly showed signs of use, covered with mottled black blood stains, accumulated from who knows how many victims, with an unidentified mixture that had been spilled onto the wooden table, mixed with a sheen of dull red; everything pointed to the fact this wasn't merely an operating room, this had actually been put in practice.

In addition to the operating table, there was also an old electric chair to the corner of the room fixed with the same leather straps , and a side full of tangled and shorted wires. An old bronze iron cabinet stood against the wall, and the dirty brown glass showed that it was packed with jars that contained oddly shaped items, that similarly reminded them of skin that had been soaked for too long, wrinkled and paling at the edges.

Lying motionlessly on the shelf was also a long black snake, it seemed dead however and therefore didn't attract much attention from the group.

This entire room -even the entire building seemed disconnected , it didn't seem like a random room you'd find at an interstellar rehabilitation center but a scene that you would only see in an 80's Mental Hospital!

On one of the shelves , something had been folded and wrapped up in rope twines. It resembled a stack of bones, a human skeleton to be precise and on closer look, Chao Bin's soft exclamation soon confirmed that point.

"It looks like an embalmed corpse."

Chu Yi stared at the bones with interest, took one more look, and actually found a suspicious point.

Although the bones had obviously been left for a long time, and the whole thing was an ancient pale yellow-brown, rhe skeleton wasn't complete.

It was missing a skull.

Chu Yi squinted his eyes and glanced at the boy who seemed awfully disturbed at the sight before him and thoughtfully did not tell the truth.

His natural emotions were already not very fluctuating, and this type of scene was nothing compared to the horrors he had personally created with his own hands, and he was even more in the mood to look at the other specimens placed on the display cabinet.

Tang Shun beside him was also unfazed and unconcerned about the thriller before him, only the teen forcing himself to puff up with strength had the most normal reaction.

The things on the display were without exception, they were all similar, either all kinds of weird human organs, floating animal corpses of different shapes.

Just as Chu Yi was thinking whether or not to take them down for further observation, Chao Bin suddenly yelled!

"Fuck it moved, it just moved!"

Chu Yi looked over to where he was pointing, amd saw that it was the dead snake.

"What kind of evil is this?" Chu Yi who was already thinking about observing them, walked over idly and with a sharp swipe of his slender hands, grabbed the cobra by it neck, showing a cheap smile, "Not Dead?"

"You!"

Chao Bin choked.

Tang Shun was non-commital.

The snake that had been grabbed by the neck, went completely still and no matter how Chu Yi shook it in the end, refused to move.

It wasn't until, he had gotten bored of playing with the thing did he notice that underneath the area after removing the snake was a tiny piece of paper that seemed to have been scribbled on with what looked like a child's handwriting.

And yet the words on it were anything but innocent and pure, it seemed devout and utterly crazed with religious delirium,

"Speak to the god of all things, I use poison to take the breath of those people, melt their internal organs and lungs, the priests should make sacrifices, offer blood, offer endless fear and wailing everywhere, offer the most pious, the most hungry ofprayers, may the great Lord accept. I hide among the survivors, like King and send the blood of the last of a hundred living to all the altars, one person and one life, midnight is a pilgrimage that burns fragrance to your high hands, it is the pain that I am immune to, it is the time of sacred rest! I create these by my own pious hands, something greater than thou behests, for mankind is a sin and only your most pure and holy works are allowed in your heavens! I wash away this dirty sin with the blood of the survivors and create a new being in your honor-- Your most devout believer.

Just in time for Chu Yi to finish speaking, everything around him turned dark and he blacked out!

Dropping alongside him like dominoes were Tang Shun and Chao Bin, as well every resident in the entire Institute!

Strangely, he clearly felt before he hit the ground, that he heard strange sounds, like the friction sound of some heavy behemoth dragging, rustling and struggling to drag something across the floor.

He wanted to open his eyes and look, but the darkness that engulfed him was completely unresisitable. Just at the critical point of falling asleep completely, he suddenly heard the singing of poems, the singing was holy and beautiful, and yet utterly deranged , the cycle of beauty to distorted crackling cycled endlessly. And In the hazy hypnotic music, Chu Yi completely lost consciousness.

******

Chu Yi slowly sat up on the edge of the bed, feeling that one of his arms were numb and sore, and hung on his side limply, his chest was roughly bandaged and even though there was no signs of any major blood leakage, he was still very uncomfortable.

He had been operated on.

There was no doubt about it.

He removed the cloth strip, and felt around his chest but there was neither any skin grafting nor any sutures from being cut open, he didn't show any signs of being hurt but he could feel that something had changed. Still he wanted to continue observing but the overwhelming tiredness that assaulted his limbs made his brain sluggish and dull, soon with no other alternative, he climbed back onto the bed, and closed his eyes groggily.

He tried to think of what could have been done to his body but the limits of human imagination showcased itself especially, in the face of lack of direct clues.

Maybe he really was being turned into a monster.

What happened during the day was repeated in his mind. The countless precise routes formed by the convergence of strategies kept moving forward, but in the end, he came to the conclusion that he was still far away the from the goal he wanted to achieve.

The feeling of fruitlessness made Chu Yi irritable.

He was about to roll over and go back to sleep. But just after turning his shoulders, he suddenly jumped up and opened his eyes. Using his uninjured left hand, he overturned the person standing near his head onto the bed and stepped over to sit down across the man's chest! Afterwards with clamped legs, his forearm was directly pressed down to jam against the opponent's neck!

It was Tang Shun.

His throat and head were severely suppressed by a vigilant Chu Yi, his brows were furrowed, and his hands kept patting Chu Yi's arms and body, like a dying fish bobbing on land.

Even after realizing it was him, Chu Yi did not let go in the slightest,

"Want to attack me?" Chu Yi's right arm rose and his eyes moved slowly to the Ieft on Tang Shun's crushed neck, he was ready to strike!

The vivid pulse beat hard in his hand faster than his own steady heart.

"You are so sensitive." He was lying under Chu Yi, his gentle and transparent peach blossom eyes seemed to be fogged up, "How did you find it out?"

Chu Yi knew he wasn't talking about identities but how he found him under camaflouge,

"I heard ... " Chu Yi lowered his head, moved closer, and stretched out the bloody right hand that was still unhealed, red lips spraying a soft heated breath against his sensitive ears, voice dragging on with a cold lilt. "The sound of your heartbeat." Fingers lightly tapped the artery suffocating under his grip.

They are of the same kind after all.

"Your ears are really good." Tang Shun opened his mouth, no sign of fear or trepidation on the gentle mask he still carriedof his face, except the glint of beastial excitment betrayed his inner heart.

"You pressing on me, it hurts."

Chu Yi smiled directly,

What did he take him for?

"Does it hurt?" Chu Yi severely pinched Tang Shun's neck, "Since you're so afraid of pain, I'll just kill you and make it quick."

The tiger's grip stuck the muscle and the Adam apples on his throat bobbed uncontrollably, the muscles and bones on the back of his hand undulated violently with green-blue veins because of the increasing grip on Tang Shunis neck.

The hand was lined by the red neck, and it became more and more white, dazzling in the silent darkness.

Tang Shun was choked and coughed but two large, slender hands, moved out and held Chu Yi's left hand, but his mouth was still provocative, "How are you going to kill me ... with a knife or as the oriole?"

Chu Yi's heart suddenly moved, but a rather curious smile appeared on the surface, "Oriole? Who me? Why would you think that. A knife would be much more suitable to scrape the skin off your flesh."

The hand holding his neck moved upwards and pinched Tang Shun's chin, "Are you sure you want to play this game?"

He knew what he was doing.

He could clearly feel those faux gentle eye staring at him, scanning him like a polygraph, but Chu Yi just smiled and looked directly back at him.

During the confrontation, Tang Shun didn't seem to detect any abnormality from Chi Yi's face.

But Chu Yi knew, this person was abnormal and smart enough, whether it is a real change in temperament or a strict disguise, it is not simple.

"What are you looking at?" Chu Yi pinched his chin fiercely, "Staring at me since we appeared on the planet, do you think you can swindle me something with your gentle persona, or do you really just want to give me your eyes?"

Tang Shun laughed, and shook his head with a smile, and Chu Yi penetrating gaze noticed a small green stud earnings imbedded on his earlobes.

"How can you say that to me? Is it weird to look at someone as good-looking as yourself?"

"Besides, I'm not the only one watching." Tang Shun still smiled at the corners of his mouth. "By the way, how can you find me looking at you when I disguise myself so thoroughly?"

He caught a point that he could handle and immediately latched onto to it Chu Yi was about to speak, but this guy started to explain in a fake enthusiastic manner: "Oh, I see, my mask must be too exaggerated. Too much kindness in the infinite world is strange after all. Or is it that you've been observing me yourself."

Chu Yi looked at him coldly, stayed silent for three seconds, and then started Iaughing,

"Tang Shun, is it just that you want to join in on the excitement. Do you know what I'm planning?"

Just now, Tang Shun was still laughing, but after Chu Yi spoke the smile on his face that pretended to be gracious gradually faded, but it was not the embarrassment and anxiety after being exposed, but a subtle smile.

Like appreciation.

"Yeah, I don't know what you're planning, but after all..we are the same people." His response was ambiguous.

"Co-operation?" Chu Yi shrugged, leaning close to Tang Shun's ear, and spoke softly.

"Then you quickly pray to God that you don't let me down."

"Touchè."
