Chapter 38 - Doll House(16)

"What should we do now...."

The players looked around hesitantly.

They found the missing bodies, now what should they do with them. They were trapped in the corridor and time was slowly ticking away.

"Should we...search the bodies."

No one had an answer for that question. Logically they knew that searching the bodies was the best course of action but emotionally they couldnt help but resist the idea.

"What are you waiting for dumb bastards, its just some fucking bodies! Are you willing to wait for death here because of those things."

Xiao Ke was the first to break the silence. With a ugly snarl, he shoved Bu Hua who was standing beside him to the side and stormed his way violently to the statue.

"Fucking cowards."

Then under the horrified gaze of the others, shoved the benevolent diety to the floor.

CRASH!

With a loud smash, the diety shattered into large pieces, shards of jade flying in all direction. From inside the statue, rotten bones came tumbling out, spilling out on the floor haphazardly.

One of the shards came flying straight to Chu Yi but despite quickly moving away, the sharp jade still slit a shallow cut along his cheek, blood spilling from the line.

Chu Yi paused.

Licking the line of warm blood pooling on his lips, pink tongue stained a dazzling red and tasting the mentallic blood on his tongue, Chu Yi stared at Xiao Ke with a dark gaze.

3 points condescending, 3 points amused and 4 points annoyed.

Briefly he felt his pocket warm angrily.

Under Chu Yi's glare, the shadow underneath Xiao Ke's feet undulated slightly. There was no longer only one existence hiding in his shadow.

But for Chu Yi, this problem was simple.

Why be angry with such a person?

I gave you a choice, do you still want to blame me?

Then go die.

But the waste can still be used.

At the same time, Chu Yi who had been paying attention to Xiao Ke movement, saw the man tremble.

Xiao Ke panicked slightly at the sight of the shattered statue on the floor, fright and uncertainty glazing his erratic eyes, nevertheless when nothing happened even after a long while, he shoved that panic down with a mocking sneer.

Looking contemptuous at the horrified looks on the others players and spat,

"Cowards."

Then he bent down and started sifting through the pile of bones, looking to see if there was any of the keys.

The bones were fragile and with his rough movements, often made loud cracks.

However, surprisingly, even after searching for a long time , nothing turned up, only Xiao Ke's face turning progressively uglier.

Had he really just shattered the diety for nothing.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the changes in the others.

Looking at the gazes of the players gradually taking on a pitying nature, humiliated anger burned within him.

"FUCK!"

In a fit of rage, he threw the skeleton in his hand to the side.

Bunch of fucking retards, none of them will survive anyway. Who gives them the right to look down on him.

Xiao Ke glared at the others, hands clenched into fists at his side.

"Fuck you all!- none of you are going to surv-"

Unfortunately, he didn't get to finish the sentence because Xiao Ke noticed with alarm, that the eyes of the others had fallen from a somewhat condescending pity to a frightened disbelieving gaze.

He froze.

From behind his back, the sound of dry, bones rattling echoed, as if the dislocated and misplaced bones were being forcefully pushed back in place.

Tap- Tap-

A light cold tap was felt on his shoulder. The freezing touch sending cruel tremors down his spine.

It reminded him of a stone, cold corpse, lifeless and frigid. Combined with the horrifying crack of bones connecting, Xiao Ke had a horrifying guess.

Fuck.

"AH-AH-AH!"

Without turning around, Xiao Ke made a mad dash for the door, slamming against it, frantically trying to escape, however to his horror no matter how hard he slammed against the door, it refused to open.

BOOM! BOOM!BOOM!

From behind him loud footsteps echoed, the unknown creature approaching closer and closer! faster and faster!.

Cold sweat burned his eyes and his limbs trembled in fear. He couldn't see it but he could hear the sounds, the cackles of children that appeared.

"Fuck! fuck! fuck!"

Frantically he searched all over his body, hands refusing to cooperate, and still!

"Come on! Come on! "

He didn't want to die!

BOOM! BANG! KEKEKEKE!

He could feel the monster's icy breath, breathing down his neck, growing closer by the second, it was almost upon him!

Yes!

He finally found it. He managed to pull out a large grotesquely shaped lamp. Red as spilled blood.

The minute it appeared, it seemed to drive away all the darkness surging around him and in an instant the horrifying cries l around him ceased.

Xiao Ke gasped harshly, releasing the expired air in chest.

He survived.

He didn't look back just yet, waiting with stilled horror for any trace of the monster.

Nothing.

He breathed out lightly.

When he was sure that the monster had thoroughly been vanished, he let out a relieved sigh.

That was close.

He turned around slightly to examine the rest of the room, briefly wondering why the rest of the players were so silent.

Had they all been killed already-

"Boo."

His pupils shrunk, In Xiao Ke's horrified eyes, he caught sight of the creature.

A skinless child, only its head carried a trace of life. The rest of the creature was just a mismatched assembly of bones. Grotesquely inhumane. Its head was like a small porcelain doll, no trace of blemish, glassy eyes and pale feature.

Currently it was grinning at him cutely.

"Got yah."

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

****

Chu Yi only felt himself fall into a lulled darkness, as if he was falling headfirst from a ten foot cliff

It was absolute darkness and the feeling of weightlessness would drive anyone to despair.

Chu Yi only felt boundless happiness and freedom. He was falling quickly, and there was only a whistling sound in his ears. The thick darkness rushed toward his face, concealing all the light, and drowning him. Chu Yi did not feel the horror of suffocation.

There was only pure happiness and satisfaction in his eyes, and he did not feel fear or any negative emotions. Only the stimulus and excitement that a leap brings him, and even peace. This seems to be another alien space, no one is disturbed, there is no noise, it belongs to Chu Yi alone.

Unfortunately the leap didn't last long the darkness resided, letting the pure light once again haunt his vision.

"SCREEEEE!"

There was no time to react, from a far , a hideous creature came barrelling toward him.

Chu Yi could only side step the creature in hurry, dodging the incoming blow. The thing staggered slightly before turning and lunging again towards Chu Yi, large black claws swiping for his neck.

Undoubtedly this was to kill.

Splurt.

The moevemt of the hand stopped right before Chu Yi's face, shock filling the creatures eyes, then with a spurt , putrid black blood spilled from its torn neck.

The same blood dripping from the knife gripped in Chu Yi's hand.

The body fell to the ground with a heavy thump and from beside the body, a copper shard fell.

The silence was only brief however because from the end ot the corridor, another chilling screech sounded.

The hunt had finally revealed it's true appearance, stripping away the peaceful mask and bearing its hideous fangs.

They weren't the hunters

They were the prey.
