Chapter 8 - Hide And Go Die(7)

He could almost hear Little Reds wronged squeals at the back of his mind.

It was so cute, how could such a little thing devour an entire person like that.

Chu Yi chose to selectively ignore how it had cruelly burned into the flesh of Wu Xin at the beginning.

Taking a deep shuddering breath, Ren Yunaqing continued on to describe how they had left Wu Xin sitting on a chair while they had been searching around the Bed Cabins. That was, until they heard a shrill and pained scream from where they had left her, running back frantically they happened upon Wu Xin being eaten alive by two humungous tentacles. After it caught sight of them, one of the tentacles flung aside the already half eaten Wu Xin and started chasing them.

Typical example of throwing away the old for the new.

They could only run away in absolute fear.

The last thing they remembered of Wu Xin was the bloody intestines falling limply from her torn lower body. The blood and guts sending a loud splat as it hit the floor of the train. There was still a little life left in her eyes at that moment but when she saw the leaving backs of the two men, it quickly extinguished into hopeless despair.

Dan Bai had started hyperventilating at that last sentence, he had obviously been traumatized by what he had seen.

"From this we can guess two of the hidden rules in this instance. Every instance has hidden rules besides the ones given by the System NPC, they are generally just as dangerous as the system rules.

1). Beware of your shadow

2). Never stay too long on the dark

Doing any of the above would lead to death in most cases."

Chun Li's gruff voice echoed in the room. He had anonymously being voted as leader and his rough but soothing presence gradually put the rest at ease.

No one asked Chu Yi about his experience. Someone who could be on good terms with the conductor was definitely either a lunatic or the destroyer. Neither of which they wanted on their side and there was a subtle air of exclusion amongst the group.

Chu Yi didnt care, still partially sulking thinking of all the ways he could dismember a particularly annoying conductor.

Choooooooo-

There was a rumble and crash, the loud shrill of air whistling though the chimney as the chamber fuel was shoveled with coal. Then came the echo of old engines turning, before the rickety train started with a jerk. Zhan Xi in particular who was unconscious was sent flying off the seats, shocking Bai Chuan.

She let out a low groan as she woke from the pain.

"Wh-what.."

No one had time to cater to her however as the train quickly picked up speed. Flying at breakneck speed across the tracks.

If it wasnt a system protected train, it would have probably already flew off the railways at the speed it was going, sending them all crashing into the deep valleys below to die a slow but sure death.

After the train began, the room seemed to come alive. Around them came the sound of chattering friends, dishes clanking as the food carts ran along the train, the cries of children as there mothers hurried to hush them. A hub pub of people going about their day. It was as if they were really standing on a full train with a bunch of happy passengers going to their diffrent destination.

Chu Yi thought of the journal entry that he had found.

It kept mentioning how quiet the train had become and from the sounds echoing around him, he could guess that at least at the start of the journey, it was definitely not like that. Something had happened mid way that sent all the passengers, including the conductor to a gruesome death.

The sounds gradually died down as the train settled into a stable speed. The floor under their feet occasionally rocking as they passed by the rail bumps.

'Grro-owl'

The sound of someone's empty stomach protesting sounded. It was only then that the passengers became aware of their hunger.

From the moment they had entered the instance till now, they've been pressured under the tense atmosphere and only now when the tension had been alleviated somewhat were they reminded of their needs.

Chu Yi himself felt the twinge of hunger settle on him as soon as he became aware of it.

So with a rustle, everyone started to gather food from their bags.

Military Grade Rations.

There were instant noodles, oatmeal, pasta , rice, some canned beef and chicken, 5 bottles of water and a few packets of diffrent meat sauces. Only barely enough to last them 5 days, maybe a week if they scrounged.

Without hesitation, the rest immediately began to unpack the cold rations. They werent the most palatable but they were too hungry to care at this point.

Chu Yi on the other hand stared at the food in his hand a little confused. Although it looked no diffrent from the rest, the food in his hand had definitely been heated up and prepared beforehand. There were also more variety with even a can of marinated beef and a few packets of sweets hidden in the seams.

Why did it seem to him that he was getting special treatment from the system.

Was it his illusion?

He decided to dwell over it later however, because at this point his stomach had started growling unsightly at the smell of food.

The others couldn't help but glance at him as he ate.The way his red lips would wrap around the spoon in his mouth, his pink tongue swiping unconsciously across those plump lips as it left. Enticing and Inviting them to ravish them hungrily. He lifted a pale hand as he chewed, brushing away the strand of silk hair that had fallen onto his beautiful face. He exuded charm and seduction, teasing them and playing with their minds. Looking past the danger on the surface, this deadly creature was truly too beautiful.

Chu Yi felt the gazes on him, he glanced around casually, a light warning flashing in his eyes. Chun Li and the others immediately looked away, even though his warning looked casual. Light for them entailed far more than they could handle.

They finished eating quickly, packing the rest of the food carefully into their bags.

Bai Chuan held onto the weak Zhan Xi carefully and motioned towards the other before carefully walking towards the rooms.

It was obvious that neither of them were in the mood to explore the secrets of the train.

Chun Li hesitated for a moment before following leaving behind a,

" I'd suggest you get some rest now, Tommorrow we'll investigate the happenings on the train."

Ren Yuanqing and Dan Bai stayed for a moment longer before leaving. Zhong Feng glanced at Chu Yi nervously before also making his way out.

In the end only Chu Yi was left sitting in the dim room.

With a rustle something that had been lurking in the darkness came swiftly slithering up to Chu Yi.

Little Red had been waiting impatiently for the others to leave so that he can cuddle up to Chu Yi and act coquettish.

With a chuckle, Chu Yi picked up the little thing.

It was time to leave.

He lifted his feet and started walking not in the direction of the rooms but though the door ,he had followed the conductor through.

A psychopath wasnt necessarily a serial killer but a serial killer was definitely a psychopath and this serial killer would do anything feel alive even if it meant murdering in cold blood or gouging out the eyes of his victims.

And if the conductor could give him that excitement , then to the conductor he'll go.
