Chapter 678: Starlight Energy Beam

In the depths of the cursed wilderness,

"Die,"

The start lynx opened its mouth and released an energy purple coloured energy beam from its mouth.

'Boom'

'Aargh'

All of a sudden, a huge explosion occurred the moment the energy beam touched the barrier created by the tree treants summoned by Geron.

With the explosion, the entire area was covered by dust and from it, a painful groan could be heard.

Soon, the dust settled and the two other guardians could finally see what had happened.

'What?'

When the two guardians, Abyss minotaur and Serpent Imp saw their leader fall to the ground, they were shocked as they hurriedly moved to help him.

"Leader, are you okay?"

Both the guardians rushed towards the leader and asked the Star lynx.

"I am fine...fine,"

Star lynx replied with a growl as he stood on his four legs and looked at the thin barrier around Geron and said, "I didn't expect your barrier has such an ability to reflect the attacks. No wonder, you dare to come here."

Star Lynx eyed Geron as though he had stolen something important from him as he continued, "Let's see, how long are you going to stay in your turtle shell."

'Damn it. Even my Starlight energy beam was unable to leave a single scratch on the barrier. I have to make him stop shouting' otherwise, I will be in a trouble,'

Even though his attitude on the surface looked like he didn't care much about the barrier, inside his heart, he was fearing that what if the king of spirit beasts wakes up from his slumber.

'Phew...thank god I used the advance essence pill and learned a 'skill enhancing' skill from my ancestral memories,'

Inside the barrier, Geron looked at Star lynx and the other two guardians and thought in his head with an exciting look.

'I have to hurry and wake up him,'

"Big brother, I have any important thing to say to you,"

He didn't waste his time looking at the guardians as he started calling the king of the spirit beasts as he knew the barrier would not last for much longer.

Hearing Geron's shouts, the spirit beast looked annoyed as he cursed inside his heart; however, even his strongest attack was unable to do anything to the barrier.

So, except for waiting for the barrier to disappear, he could do nothing.

'Crack'

As Geron continued to shout at an old cave as loud as possible, one of the tree treants surrounding Geron made a cracking sound as a small crack appeared on its tree body.

"Haha"

Even though Star Lynx was a spirit beast, it laughed in a pure evil human laugh when he saw the crack in the barrier appear just above that tree treant.

"It looks like heavens are in my favour,"

Star Lynx interestingly looked at the cracks that were appearing at an incredible speed on the barrier and mocked Geron.

"You two go and hit the barrier now,"

Since the barrier was full of cracks, Star lynx ordered his two subordinates to destroy it because he didn't want Geron to shout one more time.

'...'

However, both the beasts looked at the cracked barrier and were a little hesitant to attack.

"Big brother, your guardians are planning something behind your back and want to kill me. Save me,"

All of a sudden, Geron increased his tone after seeing the cracks on his thin barrier.

"Did you hear that? If our king wakes up, then we will be killed right away. Just go and destroy it,"

For the first time, his subordinates didn't blindly follow his orders; instead, looked at him in doubt that made the Start Lynx very angry.

However, currently, he suppressed his anger as he once again ordered the other two guardians while thinking inside his heart, 'Just wait for some more time. After I ascent to the throne, I will torture you for not following my orders like obedient slaves.'

Moreover, the natural cracks on the barrier stopped increasing. So, the star lynx thought as long as they used some attacks on the barrier, it would be destroyed.

After receiving the order from their leader, both the beasts looked at the cracked barrier and then looked at Geron's face which was filled with panic.

Seeing that anxiousness in his face, both the spirit beasts didn't hesitate any longer as they used their powerful attacks on the barrier.

'Abyss rampage slash'

'Myriad fire strike,'

Abyss minotaur and Serpent imp used one of their powerful long-range attacks fearing that the close-range attacks might be reflected at them. 

'Slash'

'Clang'

'Strike'

'Clank'

Even though the barrier was full of crack, even with the two powerful attacks, except for a few more new cracks nothing much happened to the barrier.

'What? Nothing happened?'

'How powerful that barrier is?'

All the three spirit beasts were surprised at the toughness of the barrier; however, at the same time, both the beasts heaved a sigh of relief that their attacks were not reflected back at them.

"Idiots, continue to use the same attacks on the barrier,"

Seeing that there were some more cracks on the barrier, the Star Lynx ordered them to continue with their accounts.

'Yes,'

Both the beasts nodded their heads and excitedly used their attacks at the barrier.

'Swoosh'

'Slash'

'Clang'

'Crack'

Soon, they continued to use their attacks on the barrier and with each attack, a new crack continued to appear on the barrier.

'Aargh'

At the same time, Geron groaned in pain and many injuries appeared on his body that made the Star Lynx reveal a cruel laugh.

"You can take a break. Let me finish this up,"

Finally, the Star Lynx stopped his two subordinates from attacking the barrier because he felt that the barrier was on its last leg and as long as he used one of his powerful attacks, he could destroy the barrier along with killing Geron in one go.

'Moreover, after the appearance of cracks on the barrier, it lost its reflecting property. So, I  can use the full power of my Starlight energy beam','

Just like earlier, the star lynx came near the barrier and said to Geron, "This time, I am going to kill you and don't worry about your daughter. I will take good care of her...Hehe."

"Don't you dare touch her,"

All of a sudden, Geron, who was kneeling on the ground because of the injuries that mysteriously appeared on his body, stood up all of a sudden and angrily looked at the star lynx.

"What will you do? Or rather what can you do?"

The star lynx mocked Geron as he asked him.

"If you dare touch her, I am going to kill you,"

Geron clenched his fists as he said in a low yet deep voice that would make regular elite general realm cultivators shiver.

"This is the funniest joke I have ever heard in my life...Haha,"

The star lynx started laughing and without wasting any time, he released his 'Starlight energy beam' from the close range just like before.

'Swoosh'

As soon as he released the energy beam, he hurriedly jumped back fearing that it might backlash.
