Chapter 34 - A not-so-wise sage.

『N/A』: As it took a while for a chapter to come out, I decided to translate myself and correct the translation a little so that you have a new chapter and not take any longer.

The chapter didn't turn out how I wanted it because I'm tired, but that won't happen in the following chapters. Any questions, questions or feedback please send us in the comments! Thanks.

(I'm studying English alone, so don't get too heavy, the edited chapter will come out soon)

Eiji was surprised by the sudden scream, but no, he didn't take any action or any movement.  After all, he was sure no one would dare attack him while he was in Minato.

Then he saw a figure with long white hair waving a hand with a goofy grin on his face.

Eiji finally managed to identify the guy, and he can't help but be surprised, he finally met Jiraiya in person!

In fact, it was really him who had arrived!

Jiraiya was a tall man with spiky white hair usually tied back in a ponytail, with two shoulder-length slashes that framed either side of his face.

He also had red lines running from his eyes, and wore a horn forehead protector with the kanji "oil", which shows his affiliation with Mount Myōboku.

He also had a visible wart on the right side of his nose.  Jiraiya wore a kimono with a green shirt and short pants; under which he wore mail armor.

His outfit was completed with handguards, a simple black belt, traditional Japanese wooden sandals, a red cape with two simple yellow circles, and a scroll on the back.  He also had a tattoo on the palm of his left hand, similar to the one that 'Gama' has.

He was so fond of gamma because he was the only one who posed with it in his presentations and self-proclaims no matter where!

"Oh, Sensei. When did you get back to the village?"  Even Minato was surprised by his arrival.

Minato was already used to his sensei's ways, he often tried to divert the attention of others to another place and almost never really answered the most important questions.

Minato just let it go, he understood that Jiraiya probably had a good reason to appear here in person.

Then he pointed his finger at Eiji who was sitting looking at the two of them very carefully and introduced them.

"This one is Hatake Eiji, he's not actually my disciple. He's Kushina's genin. He's just here to learn a little from me" Minato rubbed his cheek a little awkwardly.

'Hatake?'

"Nice to meet you Jiraya" Eiji stood up and to everyone's surprise he didn't bow or use holes, just called him directly by his name and held out his hand for a squeeze.

'Jiraya?  Huh?'  Jiraya smiled at the interesting scene in front of him, he had met many people in his life throughout his journeys and travels.  But he's never met anyone as carefree and relaxed as this boy in front of him.

He wasn't even surprised or amazed by his arrival, and treated him like he was any other common Shinobi!  This was amazingly insane!  He's never seen anyone behave like that.

'Now this is interesting'

"Of course I know, you are the Minato sensei"

"Hehehe, boy" Jiraya retracted his hand while laughing.  "I'm not just his sensei" Jiraya jumped back away from Eiji as he twirled his hair wildly.

"I am jiraya the wise frog of mount Mobyoku, one of the legendary sanins, the madman of the village is too!"  He finished twirling his hair, propped his foot straightforward, stretching, and extended his arm forward.

"I'm also the number 1 pervert in the entire ninja nation! Hahahaha"

"…"

Nobody could react right after such a self-proclaim.

"Sensei, that's not something to brag about… If Kushina heard you say something like that, she would make you all black and blue" Minato advised his teacher.

Jiraya heard what Minato said and started frantically looking left and right looking for Kushina, when he noticed she wasn't there, he just sighed in relief.

'Looks like no one dares face Kushina' Eiji mused.

Minato stepped forward and pointed out to Kakashi that he was completely ignoring what was going on after seeing what Jiraiya was doing.

'Why do I only know crazy people?'  Kakashi was starting to wonder if he was somehow cursed.

"The one over there is called Hatake Kakashi, he's a genius of his generation. Although he's a bit rude, most of the time, he's a good boy."

Jiraya had a silly smile on his face as he watched the Hatake brothers, one was training his kenjutsu skills and the other was…

Laying down to sleep????

"Hey brat, are you really going to sleep?"

"I'm not going to sleep, I'm just going to rest my eyes until Kakashi finishes training" Eiji's tone was slow and lazy, as if he had a lot of work to answer.

"To think that sakumo kids would be so weird!"  Jiraya commented loud enough to get even Kakashi's attention.

"Do you know my father?"

'He plays lazy and disinterested, but he is always alert to his surroundings as if he fears being attacked… His hands are also callused, that means intensive training.  Your chakra reserves are already at the level of a normal chunin, your words and mentality, and intelligence are not normal for an average child'

Jiraiya's mind was working at an overwhelming speed, he had long been used to noticing bȧrėly perceptible details that few people would see.

What jiraiya didn't know is that Eiji was wearing a seal under his shirt that partially limited his chakra some, making him look like he had less chakra than he actually did.

"Yes, I know him. In fact, I even trained with him for some time and even went on missions with him" Jiraya replied, honestly.  He owed some things to sakumo.

Eiji was very interested in the subject and asked bluntly.  "Who is stronger between you two? My dad or you?"  He had already sat down and was paying close attention to the man in front of him.

In his past life, he was idolized by many around the world.  But after living in this world, Eiji started not to think so highly of him, but he still liked the man.  His opinion of the man was so contradictory.

Jiraya looked at Eiji strangely and looked like he was thinking about how to answer his question.

"Honestly? Even if Orochimaru and Tsunade were with me, we'll still get lost!"  Jiraya spoke in all honesty.

"Serious?"  Even though Eiji suspected it, it was different hearing from someone like Jiraiya.  He wasn't weak at all.

He greatly respected this boy's father.  One of the reasons he returned to the village was precisely what happened to sakumo.  An S-rated leak and the Hokage took no action?  There was a conspiracy smell there.

"We're not even going to talk about skills, experience, taijutsu, ninjutsu, strategy, strength in general. He surpasses us in everything. The most amazing thing is his kenjutsu skill that is unrivaled even in the entire ninja nation."

Jiraya learned that these two brats practiced kenjutsu with sakumo, so he pointed to Kakashi who was swinging his tantö.

"Do you know why sakumo is feared by all villages? He is an S rank ninja."

Eiji didn't know how to respond and shook his head in denial.  Everything he knew about his father in relation to his strength was almost non-existent.  Sakumo in front of his children never showed any of his real abilities.

"Sakumo when he pulls his sword, no one can capture his movement, all they see is a white blur. It's almost impossible to dodge if he's too close, he can even count ninjutsu with a single swing. It's quite insane"

Eiji was awestruck by this information.  He couldn't believe it was possible to simply cut a ninjutsu!  That's too OP.

"So would you lose? The great, legendary sanins? Hehehe" Jiraiya was surprised that this child had the audacity to mock him, O great and wonderful jiraiya-sama!

"Jiraya, why are you called legendary sanins if you lost 3vs1 against a single Rain Village ninja? Shouldn't you be the legendary losers?"

"Jiraya, why are you a novice pervert?"

"Jiraya…"

Jiraiya was amazed by this boy, he threw questions one after another in sequence without losing his breath.  He was starting to get pissed off at this brat.

"Boy, calm down there."  He covered Eiji's mouth and looked at him seriously.  "I'm not a clueless pervert! I'M A SUPER PERVER! DO YOU UNDERSTAND, BOY???"

Eiji found this unbelievable, from everything he said was that what he really cared about?  WFT

"But…" He looked around and deliberately took a moment to respond.  "How do you know about the Sage mode? It's not something taught or known to people" His eyes narrowed as if he could see everything.

Eiji was surprised by this sudden change in attitude but didn't take it seriously.  "My father said there are certain summons that can teach you the wise way if you find the qualified contractor"

Eiji was very happy about it, playing his father as an excuse was really amazing.  No one really suspected it was a lie.

'Something he says is not right.  Hmmmm' Jiraya never stopped analyzing Eiji.  He noticed that this boy was often eccentric and quite radical about some things.  His mind is also not functional according to what he is used to.

There was also this weird and unnatural attitude around Eiji that made jiraiya intrigued, he asked inappropriate questions and a bit rude as if it were normal… Many people could get angry or offended.

'This will take some time…'

"You are correct. I am the contractor of the myoboku mount, they being the invocation of the frogs who can teach the wise way… and I can only manage so far. As for Orochimaru and Tsunade… One is unqualified and the another is not interested"

"Then why are you called a sage? Legendary Sanin? You are not a sage"

"Is it because you guys have such an honorable and cool title? Didn't you guys lose badly to a single shinobi even though you had the upper hand?"

"How did you guys lose to a SALAMANDRA in a place that's full of WATER?"

Most of the things this brat said were unpleasant.  Like it was some attempt to piss him off or something.

'Is he trying to tease me or is he testing me?'

Jiraya put a hand to his forehead and regretted having come to this place to inspect these brats by order of hiruzen.  If one already gives you such a headache, imagine two?

'I could be writing a book or spying on the bathroom, doing research…' Jiraya sighed in anguish.
