35 Tournament of power

"...."

As Jin finished explaining his encounter with Mikoto, Karasu just sat there, in a pensive state. Ojou-sama's memories had been sealed, and Jin could not immediately access any of his supposed new abilities. To say this went outside of his expectations would not be enough.

"Hmmm... I guess we'll just work with what we have. I hope you're prepared."

"Prepared? what for?" Jin was confused at the sudden change of topic by his teacher.

"Kukukuku... It has been several centuries since the animal clans in the land of fire have all produced heirs to their legacy. On this day, all of the clans in our nation have decided to assemble and hold the sacred tournament of power." Karasu looked excited as he spoke.

"Tournament of power? Heirs? What are you talking about?" One thing Jin hated about Karasu was his habit of always being so cryptic when he spoke. It was very frustrating having to constantly ask him questions.

"Relax, I will explain. Uhum." Karasu cleared his throat and started his speech. "Since our formation, the animal clans in every country hold some sort of tournament. Whenever they all produce a worthy human apprentice, it is custom to hold an event in which their strengths are compared. It can also be seen as a way of establishing status or dominance, as well as earning it."

Jin understood Karasu would probably have him fight against ninja that were raised by the multiple animal clans of the nation, in other words, the elite.

"Don't worry, they are all about your age. The only ones you should really worry about are that fool Gamamaru's apprentice and your own cousins, Hideki and Fugaku." Karasu said this with anticipation. He wanted to see how his apprentice would fare against the other animal clans, especially against the toads.

"My cousins?! Jiraiya-san!?" Jin hadn't seen them in years. The fact that he was going to finally see them almost made him tear up from joy. These past three years had been very solitary, without the love he was used to getting from his family on a daily basis, he was quite depressed most of the time.

"Yeah, I heard that they're pretty strong... Especially that Jiraiya kid. My sources say that he is around weak Jonin level." (Author's note: Check the power scaling //Chapter 0//, This should be around as strong as one tail Naruto, part one of course. I am open to suggestions on that chapter.)

"Damn Jiraiya-san, that's pretty darn strong." Jin did not really know the full extent of his current abilities. He hadn't fought someone else in a while, and he was itching for a good fight.

"Let's hope he gives me a challenge!" With his blood boiling, Jin looked at Karasu directly in the eye. "Karasu-san! When and where is the tournament?"

Karasu liked the attitude that Jin was showing, and smiled confidently underneath his mask.

"We're leaving in a week. It will take place in Mount Myoboku, the sacred land of the toads. They were the dominant clan last time around, so it's their turn to host the tournament." Karasu looked somewhat pissed as he finished his last sentence. His clan hadn't really produced anyone noteworthy in the ninja world. Mainly because he was lazy.

He hoped that Jin would be the first, thus changing everything.

"Alright, I won't disappoint you!"

Leaving a black thunderclap behind him, Jin went back to his training spot in a flash. He was going to train harder than ever today.

As he recalled from the anime, Sasuke had applied the concept of chakra transformation to the Chidori countless times. Making it even more useful in different situations, and at times even stronger than usual.

He would one day recreate these, but right now he felt like trying out an idea he had come up with by himself. He then started to mold and channel lightning-yin chakra in his palm.

As a beautiful Chidori began to form, Jin closed his eyes and concentrated, he thought of the image in his head, and the lightning started to shape into a small crow. Its form was uneven since it was literally made of electricity and constantly flickered, with sparks going everywhere.

Through the addition of yin-energy to Chidori, in the past few weeks, Jin had found out that by increasing the spiritual nature of his electricity it could take live form in a similar way to Kakashi's lightning hounds.

The dark crow started to flap its wings, as it screamed. The sound of screeching electricity came out from its mouth. Although it had no eyes, it seemed to have become somewhat sentient.

"Alright! Now, Fly!" Jin had already tried this before, but the crow would never last long enough in the air until it exploded into countless sparks of electricity. It was something he hadn't figure out yet.

Earlier, when he was meditating on the plank, he had finally come up with a brilliant idea. He meticulously guided his yin chakra that hadn't merged with the electricity yet, to coat the lightning crow in a similar way to Naruto and his nature energy.

After many hours of meditation, he had realized that his yin chakra was as pure as it got. This gave it a boost in power and it became easier for him to control, thus making him able to perform abnormal feats with it such as merging it with electricity or coating the crow.

"Ok, now slowly release it..." Jin was starting to speak to himself. The sheer number of times he had reached this step and failed was uncountable at this point. With a flap of its dark wings, the crow took flight and Jin guided it to a nearby massive rock. It somehow made it all the way there and collided with it, turning poor Rock-Chan into pieces with a loud screech of electricity. The sound it made was very reminiscent of the original Chidori.

"Yes! I did it!" What Jin had now accomplished was no easy feat. It was a pretty advanced form of chakra manipulation and mental strength. He had to remain concentrated the entire time, or the crow would just disappear once more.

"I guess I'll just have to practice more then." With newfound energy, Jin continued practicing the same move for two days straight until he could release two crows at a time and control them through a range of around fifty meters.

"Although it doesn't reach as far as the fireball, it has more destructive power." Jin was satisfied. One day he would reach a level where tens of crows would be under his direct control, how destructive would that be? This was now a possibility with his newly acquired chakra source.

Thinking about that, Mikoto hadn't awakened in two days, was she ok? Jin was worried.

"Aww, are you worried about me~~?" A playful voice suddenly resounded through Jin's head unexpectedly.

"Mikoto-sama! Have you rested well?" Back to bootlicking now.

"Hmph. You think that your sweet words get to me?" Although she could read his thoughts, she still felt good about how he addressed her and puffed out her chest in pride.

"Heh, I just saw that last attack that you performed. Try using my chakra with it, let's see what happens. Here, I'll lend you some." After seeing his lightning crows and being one herself, she wanted to see them get stronger.

"What? Wai-" Before he could say anything, a surge of energy went through his body. Chakra that was as black as night started to flood his system. He quickly activated his Sharingan and looked at his chakra flow.

Usually, a person's chakra stayed inside of their body when not performing any jutsu, but right now, Jin was standing still and as he looked around, his eyes saw how his chakra literally enveloped him, It looked like he had a massive aura.

"Wow." Jin had no words, he felt like he was capable of anything, as fighting spirit surged out of nowhere, making his blood boil.

"I... I need to release it!" Jin felt like something bloated him, as he placed both of his hands vertically opposite from each other. One palm facing the other. he then bent his knees, lightly squatting.

Small lightning bolts appeared in between his hands and produced a buzzing sound. The ground underneath his legs was begginnig to crack.

He pulled back his arms to his right side until they were behind him. (Author's note: in a similar fashion to a kameha wave.)

Jin compressed all of the chakra that Mikoto had provided him with into the space between his hands, which formed a black ball of electricity. He then let out a furious roar before releasing it as his arms went in-front of him.

As the ball was released, it slowly changed shape into a massive crow head. The majestic crow opened it's mouth and growled in a bass-like way. It engulfed the ground underneath Jin, creating a massive crater.

A loud bang was heard as the whole are shook from the impact. Back at the sacred hall, Karasu felt it and got up on his feet, confused.

"An earthquake?!" He dispersed into small crows and soon reappeared at the scene where the explosion took place. He then saw an unconscious Jin lying in the middle of a massive crater, the knockback effect from the attack had taken him out.

"What the hell happened here?!" Karasu permeated his chakra through a radius of a couple kilometers, only to find no abnormalities. Confused, he picked Jin up and placed him on his shoulder before carrying him back to his room and calling a nurse.

"I'll have to have a serious chat with this kid."

He was extremely curious now, but he suppressed it and went back to his affairs for the time being.
