Chapter 16：The Personal Bodyguard: Part 2

"Huh?!" I looked at the guard blankly.

"From today onward, he will be protecting you." Father said.

He walked toward me and murmured "Unless you do reckless things."

I flinched. What does he mean by that?

He then looked to where the guard was standing and commanded "Greet the Prince."

"Yes Your Majesty." He said it clearly.

The guard bowed and said "My name is Elijah, and I will be your personal bodyguard."

He looked at me and continued saying "It is an honor to be serving you, Prince."

"Eh .. Yes!" I did not know what should I say!

The head maid murmured "It is a great decision from His Majesty. You will be protected from today onward!"

I was still looking at Elijah. The last time I saw him, his features were not clearly seen because it was night. But now, I can see his features clearly. To be honest, he is handsome! His features were sharp. His muscles were clearly seen under his shirt. He seemed to have exercised a lot that even his complexion was tanned. His eyes' color were light brown. His hair is silky, short and has a black color.

I was staring at him unintentionally. Even my head maid noticed that, so she punched me.

"Ehhh !" I looked at her annoyingly.

Father looked at me "Mmmm .." He rubbed his chin and said "How is your injury?" He asked.

I was surprised that he asked me. I thought he was still angry at me.

"I .. think it is better now. I don't feel .... any pain." I was looking at my shoulder. It was still covered with a bandage.

"Then, you can resume your work."

"Huh?!"

"What? Should I say it again." He said it sharply.

"N .. No."

"You should go to your office. Your bodyguard will be with you."

"O ... Okay." I said.

We finally reached the office. As I opened the door, I saw Edward looking at some documents.

"Edward!" I cried.

Edward saw me surprisingly and left what he was doing. He stood up and went toward me "Welcome back! Long time no see!"

He was excited to see me as well as I am. I never saw him since the accident.

"Uh .. Yes."

"I am much better now. And I think the bandage can be removed today or tomorrow, hopefully."

"That's great. Everyone was worried about you. It is been three days since that accident."

"What?! ... three days!" I exclaimed.

"Yes. Three days." He looked at me suspiciously. "You never knew?!"

"It is not like that, but ... Uhh ... "

I moved my head awkwardly toward the window. I did not want to say about being emotional at that room, which, eventually, led me to forget about how long I have been there.

"Hmm? What do you want to say?" He rubbed his chin.

"It is ... nothing important."

I pointed toward where Elijah is and said "He will be my personal guard from today onward. His name is Elijah."

I looked at Elijah and said "And this is my tutor .. Edward."

The two of them were silent as if they were waiting for me to give a signal for them to talk. It was too awkward!

"Greet each other!" I said it impulsively while closing my eyes. I did not know what to say!

Elijah walked to where Edward is and greeted him "I am Elijah, nice to meet you."

Edward greeted him back "And I am Edward, nice to meet you too."

After several seconds, Edward looked at me and asked "What does your father tell you before coming here?"

"He said that I should resume my work." I answered.

"I see."

Come to think of it, what did Edward do when I am not in the office? Did Father tell him to do something? Or does he take a break?

"Edward" I said.

"Yes Prince."

"What did you do when I am not here in the office? Did you take a break?!" I asked.

He looked at me clearly and said while adjusting his eyeglasses "Well .. I was here in the office. It is just some paperwork that you suppose to do instead of me."

"And why you did that? Should I be the one responsible for it!" I said it impulsively with an anger tone.

"It was an order from your father. Since you were unavailable, he did tell me to do some work that does not require your signature or the family seal." He said. His features were emotionless.

I looked at him without saying anything. I felt pity toward him. He has dark circles under his eyes and his face looked pale. Why did he have to do some works while I am not here. Is Father emotionless?

I sighed. "What is the schedule for today?"

"Since it is evening, there are not too much work for you to do except doing some paperwork." He said.

"That's it?"

He raised his eyebrows questionably "Yes?"

"Then I order you to take a break."

He flinched "But .."

"Take a break. Please." I insisted.

I looked at Elijah and said "He will protect me."

"But what about your father? What if he knows?"

"I will talk to him when that time comes. Now please take a break."

He seemed surprised since I took the initiative to order.

He pressed his head and closed his eyes "Hhh ... I never see you ordering me."

I smiled.

He lifted his head and looked at me gratefully "Thank you .... very much."
