Chapter 153: Chapter 152

Ada was stunned that Lucien could follow her attacks with her eyes and even proceeded to counter it effortlessly. She felt like the rules guiding this world had fallen apart the moment she met Lucien.

Shouldn't mages have a weak body? That's how they defeated Instructor Han!

But that was not what stunned her. What left her stunned was the fact that Lucien casually slapped at her dagger as if it was nothing. At first, she expected the dagger to skewer his hands for being arrogant but what happened next left her shocked and confused.

When the dagger collided with Lucien's hands, she heard a metal clashing sound and she felt her hands go numb as the dagger fell off her hand.

Before she could speak, she felt Lucien's strong arm grab her by the face, pulling her off the ground before smashing her into the ground ruthlessly!

Upon collision, Ada felt like all the air in her body was pulled out, leaving her gasping for air but the pain on the back of her head left her feeling dizzy.

Lucien tossed her aside like a piece of rag before leaning on one of the trees and watch her struggle to get on her feet while he made speculations of the current situation.

"In normal circumstances, people refuse to take dark missions like this because all cultivators in the empire are registered and it won't be too difficult for them to track the assassins, yet you and your friends confidently did this and didn't even try to conceal your identity. This means you didn't care about the system, not because you have confidence in your backer… I believe you did this way because you and your friends are not part of the system!" Lucien said and seeing her eyes twitch when he said the last part a smile bloomed on his face.

Cultivating in an empire like this without getting registered in the Fotia academy is a crime punishable by death here and for years now, every clan and noble family has followed this rule, or at least everyone thought they were following this rule. Lucien may be optimistic but he always expects the worst from people as a method of guarding his fragile heart.

Confirming these people aren't registered, Lucien quickly jumped to the conclusion that whatever noble family or noble families that are doing this must have an underground army of cultivators which the empire doesn't know of, and thanks to the teleportation array system in the empire it shouldn't be difficult for them to move around freely.

With that concluded, he turned on Ada once again and walked towards her trembling body. Seeing her blood-red hair and her dark skin that complimented her hourglass shape and black eyes, Lucien was a bit regretful that such a beauty has to die here.

She was seated on the ground with her back leaning on a tree. When gazing at Lucien, her eyes carried the most intense fear Lucien had ever seen before and this once again confirmed his theory. This person has remained shelled up somewhere all her life, forced to cultivate and wait for the day she will be of use to her master.

"Who sent you… Give me a name and I assure you, you won't even know when you die!" Lucien said with a wide grin that revealed fangs.

She quickly shifted her eyes to his right arm only to realize that the serpent tattoo on his arms are glowing madly.

"I don't know I swear… They always had a way of hiding their faces… All I know is that they claimed if we succeed, this empire will be ruled by the humans and we will be remembered as heroes who made it happen!" Ada cried while Lucien listened silently

He frowned as he heard this and no matter how hard he tried to deny it in his head, he knew this is a coup attempt, aimed at killing the emperor and reducing the overall strength of the beast-men in the empire, that's the only way humans can be the supreme race in the empire. This explains why they went for instructor Han and also tried to get to him as well. These people are trying to get rid of potential threats who are known to have a good relationship with the emperor.

But something left Lucien confused.

For these people to ever hope of succeeding they need to be able to kill the emperor first! To do that they need to have a champion realm master on their side and the only other champion realm master in the empire is the clan patriarch of the Wuxing clan. Lucien's eyes narrowed but his instincts told him he is wrong. Remembering the eyes of the old man, Lucien was sure this man had no intentions of having the throne for himself, instead, he looked relieved that he has little duties and the emperor is the one trying to make their dream a reality.

Does that mean they have someone else aiding them?

This world is too vast and dangerous, so Lucien assumed the enemy may have met a hidden expert to help them somehow and another option is the Libet empire as well. Why did all this happen just when they began preparing for war? 

"You don't have to worry anymore… Come" Lucien said with a soft voice as he pulled the lady up and embraced her.

At first, she was trembling in fear as she knew Lucien would kill her but when Lucien just embraced her and began kissing her neck she calmed down a bit. Using his unusually long tongue, Lucien ran it up and down her neck lightly, making Ada's body shiver in pleasure and after resisting for a short while she began moaning. 

She embraced Lucien tight and held his hair lost in the feeling, Lucien's snake-like tongue gave her, she didn't notice when his fangs sank into her neck. Slowly her body began darkening even more and after a short while she became a metal sculpture.

"Just as I promised, I gave you a painless death" Lucien said as he broke off her steel hands still embracing him, and with a spinning kick, he separated her head from the rest of the body.
