Chapter 31: Is this how I die?

"Where do you think you are going?" Blink's enraged voice reached Lucien's ear, causing him to freeze due to fear.

Looking in the direction of the ongoing battle between Blink, Clovis, and the beast emperor, he could tell they were not paying attention to him but he could see a faint image of a massive darkish purple skull gazing at him attentively! His instincts kept screaming at him! Warning him of the impending doom if he decides to take just a step forward!

Lucien couldn't help but recall Blink and Clovis boasting about their masters who happen to be gods. He could see the injuries they sustained in normal circumstances should be enough to kill a man or even a beast-man three times over but they were still alive and fighting!

'These people weren't lying about their masters! What do I do?'

For the first time since his entire life, Lucien experienced true fear. He could see Blink and Clovis were locked in intense close-quarters combat with Emperor Fei but the strange Darkish purple skull kept its cold gaze on him.

His body shivered as his eyes let out a silver light and the wind wheels beneath his feet increased in size as he poured more mana into the spell.

"Nothing comes easy… I can't sit here and wait for the battle to end and except them to hand whatever is in there to me… That wouldn't be fair! I AM LUCIEN RAIZEN, GRANDSON OF LUCAS RAIZEN, SUCCESSOR OF THE RAIZEN CLAN! I REFUSE TO BE INTIMIDATED BY MERE HUMANS!" Lucien roared before shooting forward.

'I warned you!' A strange voice echoed in his head.

Ba!

Instantly, Blink broke away from Emperor Fei and swung the black scythe at Lucien, releasing a wave of darkish purple aura. In response, Lucien gritted his teeth as he stomped the ground with his wind wheels, shooting into the air in a bid to escape the attack only to see the second wave of darkish purple aura heading towards him.

"Shit!" Lucien hissed as he shut his eyes while he waited for the attack to hit.

"Keep moving! I've got your back!" Instructor Han's voice reached his ears cursing his eyes to jerk open.

Bang!

Lucien watched a spatial gate absorb all the darkish purple waves of aura before he hit the ground. The moment his feet touched the ground, Lucien lunged forward and thanks to his wind wheel, his movement speed could be considered terrifying!

Whoosh!

Lucien shot forward covering hundreds of meters in mere seconds.

"Stop Him!" Clovis growled at the remaining nine invaders blocking the entrance or the power source with their bodies.

The terrified youths gulped in balls of saliva as they soon began fireballs, wind blades, rocks, and other elemental attacks at Lucien.

"NO TURNING BACK!" Lucien growled as the lightning star path appeared below his feet and the star points quickly connected.

"Lightning magic: Lightning Rush!" Lucien screamed as a terrifying blew streak of lightning engulfed his body increasing his already crazy movement speed almost twofold!

"I AM THE ABSOLUTE!" Lucien roared as he maneuvered through the attacks, evading every one of them so skillfully that everyone was left stunned, including the beast emperor and instructor Han.

'This kid is amazing!' They couldn't help but think.

Soon the only thing standing between Lucien and the power source were the nine invaders and another barrage of spells was launched at him, leaving him with almost no room to evade!

"IT'S OVER!" Lucien growled!

Contrary to everyone's expectations, Lucien kept advancing instead of retreating! A silver ring in his hand let out blue light as a golden hilt without a blade appeared in his hand! It had the face of the great Raizen God beast ancestor carved on it! It was the Stormborn whip!

Tightening his grip on the sacred weapon in his hand, Lucien allowed it to consume his mana without restraint! Instantly a bright blue lightning whip appeared and without hesitation, Lucien swung his sacred weapon at the attacks and the people that launched it. He watched as the lightning whip kept increasing in length as it cut through all the spells sent at Lucien and the people who sent it!

Boom!

In one attack, Lucien Raizen reduced all nine invades into chunks of meat! He felt drained and his vision blurred as the wind wheels beneath his feet vanished! This is a condition he is very familiar with!

He was lacking mana!

Fell on the pool of blood and chunks of meat, staining his silver robe with the blood of his enemies. His face was smeared with blood and the moment he got a glimpse of the mess he made, he couldn't help but throw up!

'As expected! The family heirloom is extremely powerful but at my level, I can only use a single attack and become like this' Lucien lampooned in his mind as he struggled to get on his feet as he got to his feet.

He staggered towards the entrance of the power source with a peaceful smile on his face. He someone managed to defeat nine weak invaders overwhelmingly and now all he has to do is claim this power source and become the strongest he can be! What can possibly go wrong?

"Lucien move!" Instructor Han's scream reached his ears when he was just a step from entering the power source.

Turning to see what's wrong, Blink saw a spatial gate in front of him aggressively absorbing a ridiculous amount of darkish purple aura sent to reduce him to dust!

"Thanks for watching my back" Lucien said with a weak smile on his face as he threw instructor Han a thumbs up but then he saw a panicked look on Instructor Han's face.

He turned his gaze to meet the worried look on the face of Emperor Fei and at this point, he realized they were screaming something at the top of their voices but he just couldn't hear them. Only then did he notice the two-meter-long golden spear that pierced through his chest, leaving behind a massive hole in his chest. He could also feel a burning sensation passing through his body and when he tried to speak he felt like he was choking on his blood.

'Is this how I die?' Lucien couldn't help but ask in his mind as his legs lost all their strength and his body fell backward.

Everyone watched him stagger back, unknowingly entering the power source and finally falling into the blue light, vanishing from their sight completely!
