Chapter 228: Overwhelming power

With both sides blown away, many people were stunned since the loud noise had attracted quite a lot of attention. People watched from afar as they noticed the figure facing off against their emperor! It was Derik Angus! The man who joined hands with Lucien to destroy the Creed stronghold! Many considered the possibility of the Libet empire sending him to kill Lucien but they didn't expect it to happen too soon!

"No one has to worry! This will end really soon" Derik said coldly as he tightened the grip on his dragon blue spear as his fire and dragon wings flapped gently but created strong wind currents around Lucien.

Hearing his words, those below cheered for their room emperor making Derik laugh lightly. These fools do not know how deep the ocean is! That's why they dare to have blind faith in a kid.

"What do you aim to achieve by fighting me?" Lucien asked but Derik just yawned at the question as his muscles began bulging and his body slowly expanded.

His black ghastly claws doubled in size while the darkness lingering around his body slowly took the shape of a werewolf.

"YOU WILL UNDERSTAND SOON ENOUGH!" Derik's voice was extremely deep once again as his body let out a green light before he charged forward at an incredible speed!

"This again?" Lucien said with a frown on his face.

He had already noticed the true nature of Derik's devour ability. It allows him to consume an ability and use it for himself! A truly terrifying ability!

For someone who has a human friend who uses the time magic, Lucien quickly noticed the time aura Derik has been using to fast-forward his time, making him move faster. He must have gained this from fighting the Libet Human emperor!

"Don't get too cocky!" Lucien growled as he struck towards the incoming green blur but he struck nothing! His eyes flickered as he stopped his attack midway and inhumanly twisted his snake-like body as he struck the green blur behind him in less than a second after he withdrew his first attack!

"ANOTHER FAKE?" Lucien gasped in shock as he saw the blur above but at the same time, he felt a black claw strike him from below, dragging along his body all the way to his face before Derik retreated.

Gazing at his claws, Derik frowned as he realized there was no blood on his claws. His attack was not aimed at killing Lucien but he should have given him a scar but then all Derik couldn't even penetrate his skin. He soon realized how hard Lucien's dragon scales are.

"Sure enough the dragon god beast inheritance is really something" Derik said with a frown but Lucien was also shocked. He just got the inheritance and he has never gotten the chance to understand how it works so he couldn't tell the limits. He was really stunned by the fact that the attack was blocked by his dragon scales!

"Okay? This is quite assuring!" Lucien growled as he charged forward with his azure blue dragon spear.

As long as the dragon scales could handle his defense he had no other choice but to focus on the attack!

Surging blue flames spread across the battlefield blocking Derik's view of Lucien and just when he activated the Devour ability a powerful blue bolt of lightning shot past the flames, appearing behind Derik with both hands surging with Phoenix flames and Raizen blue lightning!

His body leaned forward as he released both elements at once, completely consuming Derik! Or so he thought!

Whoosh!

Derik's figure shot out of the encirclement and from above he activated the devour ability, trying to consume all three different energies!

Seeing this Lucien smiled! With this he could tell Derik could only focus his devour ability in one direction, leaving the other sides open and that's why he hastily tried to escape.

"I can overwhelm him!" Derik screamed as he charged forward with his neck expanding like that of a serpent!

AZURE DRAGON ROAR!!!!

Letting out a loud cry, Lucien released a strong beam of blue flames, while Derik was still absorbing the previous attacks!

"Cocky brat!" Derik hissed as he threw his hand forward and a black cloud appeared!

From it the combined lightning and blue flames surged out, colliding with the azure dragon roar!

Seeing this Lucien frowned! He didn't expect Derik would be able to do something like this but none of that mattered much as he began charging forward!

"Roar!" Lucien screamed as his body turned into a blue beam and he charged forward at an incredible speed.

Reappearing behind Derik who was still busy fending off his previous attacks, Lucien revealed two spears in his hands. One belonged to the azure blue dragon while the other took the shape of a lightning bolt from Raizen!

"FALL!!!" Lucien growled as he struck at Derik's back with both spears, releasing lightning and blue flames all at once!

Whoosh!

Derik took his hands off the black devour clouds consuming everything and turned to meet the attack head-on! His eyes let out terrifying lights as his claws lit up with death aura and he faced off against the two spears with his claws!

Boom!

The entire space around them trembled violently as both sides battled for supremacy but in the end, Derik was overwhelmed and sent crashing into the ground below.

"INVINCIBLE!!!" All those watching the battle at the top of their lungs, making the air vibrate but Lucien was too stunned to focus on their words. He was stunned by how much he could do when he wasn't thinking too much about how to defeat Derik and just fought.

He remembered Derik attacked him when he talked about the limitations of his beast assimilation! He realized Derik was giving him hints on how not to lose control when he absorbs beyond his body limit and his consciousness is threatened.

"This kid is a problem" Derik who was lying in a deep crater said with a frown on his face as he kept looking at Lucien's figure above.
