Chapter 216: Strange painting

"I missed?" Lucien was breathing heavily as he gazed at the empty hole on the ground and frowned. His body trembled since he put in so much power into summoning that massive dragon head and even right now his legs were quaking barely able to carry his body.

Whoosh!

A figure appeared behind him, throwing a powerful right hook aimed for the skull but before it could reach a green flash appeared between the stone statue and Lucien and that was Derik!

"GET BACK!!!" Derik growled like a wild beast as he brandished his claws at the exposed stone first heading for Lucien's skull!

SECRET COMBAT TECHNIQUE: BRILLIANT CLAW!!!

Derik'z claw released waves of green aura, surging dangerously! With just a single claw swipe, Derik severed the stone arm almost effortlessly!

"You!!!" The stone statue growled as it tried to pull back but Derik had no intentions of letting this opportunity pass by!

"Who said you can leave?" Derik's eyes released dangerous lights as an intense darkish green aura exploded from his body, taking the shape of a werewolf standing on its hind legs!

"Secret technique: Werewolves Roar!!!"

ROAR!!!

Derik let out an intimidating roar as the werewolf avatar out a furious cry and charged forward.

Whoosh!

Just before it could hit the god descent statue, the statue sidestepped to evade the attack but it soon saw Derik right in front of it!

"I am the absolute!" Derik roared as he swung both claws upwards, releasing claw-shaped energy projectiles at the statue!

Leaping to the side the statue evaded the attack but then its eyes widened as the roar of a werewolf could be heard from behind and the massive werewolf figure descended from above smashing into it and pinning it to the ground!

"NOW!" Derik and Lucien growled as both of them lunged into the air with the grip on their weapons tightened as they struck forward! While Lucien released a powerful wave of scorching blue flames, Derik released an arc of intense death aura!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Thud!

Both figures landed roughly and slid back as they tried to recover. They both took in heavy breathes and waited for the dust to settle in hopes of seeing a destroyed statue.

Whoosh!

A strong wind blew away the dust and they saw the statue standing with both hands destroyed, numerous holes and countless cracks on its body. The bright silver light in its eyes was no longer as strong as it use to be and both of them could feel the power fading.

"You two are only a minor setback... When the time comes for me to reveal myself... You will all die painful deaths!" The statue roared before it completely crumbled and broke apart into numerous pieces.

Huff!

Both men released sighs of relief as they fell on their backs and just breathed in. Never have either of them been involved in a series of intense battles. The outcome could have gone sideways at any time and their hearts were always beating fast all through the battle!

Scary but exciting!

"That was awesome!" Lucien said after a while and Derik nodded in agreement.

While Derik has always been used to getting involved in one-sided battles, no matter how many they are, he just overwhelms them with sheer number and power, but today he found himself in a battle where the outcome was so unpredictable he even considered the possibility of losing while fighting!

"Yea... They put up a really good fight" Derik responded while trying to stabilize his breathing.

"I think I would have run out of mana a long time ago if I didn't have Rakuzen's backing" Lucien said and Derik laughed.

"Same here... My condition is a bit special so, I cannot be affected by the mana scarcity in the area" Derik replied with a slight laugh.

Kylie and Instructor Emma watched as the two men bonded and talked while laughing. The two empires watching through the transmission crystal watched what was going on and honestly didn't know how to deal with this matter. These are empires known for hating each other but as for Derik and Lucien who just joined hands to win such an intense and crazy battle so people felt that the synergy they had in battle, making it almost impossible for them to criticize the bond these two just showed in battle.

The battle finally ended and after a few minutes, Derik and Lucien rose on their feet before gazing at the two girls and signaling them to come over. With the stronghold destroyed and nothing else left to do, Lucien and Derik walked towards the purple portal and felt it calling out to them. They approached slowly as the voice in their head got stronger and before they could even consider leaving Derik and Lucien were suddenly pulled into it by an unknown force, leaving Emma and Kylie stunned and dumbfounded.

The entrance to the dungeon had vanished and since this is the first time something like this is happening, everyone was too confused and stunned to do something about it. They could only watch and wait while hoping Derik and Lucien comes out of this alive.

Meanwhile, Derik and Lucien felt their body getting pulled by an unknown force through what seemed to be like a light tunnel!

Bang!

They were both thrown on the floor when they reached the end of the light tunnel.

"What the hell was that?" Lucien muttered but Derik ignored him and surveyed the surroundings and he was stunned by what he saw.

The entire cave was like an underground crystal mine where only bright crystals can be seen. Each of these crystals contains intensive mana, beneficial for cultivation but that's not what caught their attention...

Cave, leaving them dumbfounded. While Lucien had a rough idea of what he saw but was still a little bit confused, Derik understood everything perfectly! His eyes narrowed as he clenched his fists and growled.

"I will not be anyone's plaything! Do you hear me?!!!" Derik growled as his aura exploded, surging dangerously.
