Chapter 418 - Forcing

"Don't worry. They will be fine, hopefully." Otis said as he raised his hand and opened another portal. "Master!" Otis shouted and a dark shadow stretched out from the depth of the portal. "Otis!" Gautum growled. "Later, look." Otis pointed out and Gautum turned around. His eyes turned wide and round. "Let go of your familiar now you idiot!" Gautum shouted. Ariana turned her gaze to Gautum and did what she was told.

Loralei collapsed onto the ground but Ariana's magic was still out of control. Ariana held out her hand and stared down Gautum. "You need to purify them." She said causing Gautum to break into cold sweat. "What are you?!" He shouted but Ariana just stared at him with cold, unflinching eyes. "He said you could do it. If you need a boost in power then take my hand." Ariana said.

Gautum looked at Ariana then the bubbles. Sheena and Edlyn screamed in surprise as they were pulled back. Ariana's power started to become wild and dark lightning bolts started to strike the area. Sheena and Edlyn almost got hit but were pulled away just in time. "Who told you this nonsense! Just call back your power and come back to the Academy." Gautum ordered. Suddenly the lightning found the bubbles and the captives were starting to scream in pain.

"I have, it won't go away." Ariana said indifferently. Otis walked up beside his master and gave him a cold glare. "If you won't help her then I will. I hope you can live with that stupid stubbornness of yours." Otis said coldly and then walked up to Ariana. Gautum clicked his tongue as he averted his gaze. Otis took Ariana's hand and was instantly swallowed up in a flash of dark light. "Otis!" Halina shouted. "It's alright." Otis's voice echoed in the air. Gautum quickly looked back up and saw that Otis was gone. Ariana looked at her hand and stared.

"He's gone." Ariana announced. Ariana's lightning changed and dark feathers started to rain around her. "I don't think he will ever come back." She continued with a expressionless face. "What have you done?!" Gautum shouted just as Ophelia appeared in front of Halina. 'Otis?' She called out pitifully. The dark bubbles started to descend and Loralei changed back into her chibi self. The Lumas rushed forward and inspected Loralei.

Ariana bent down and picked up Loralei. "She will be okay." She said with a soft sigh. The dark bubbles disappeared and robed people littered the area. Ariana stepped forward as she gingerly carried Loralei. She walked past her Lumas and headed towards Gautum. She stopped right beside Gautum and side glanced at him. "Ingemar had so much faith in you. Now you've let Otis sacrifice himself. If you just let go off your hatred for me and taken my hand... things would have been different." Ariana said coldly.

Gautum's blue eye flashed with disdain as his green eye glowed with an eerie light. "Hate yourself not me." Ariana scoffed then walked away. "Ariana?" Edlyn called out but Ariana kept walking. "Wait!" Edlyn shouted as she chased after Ariana. "Sheena where are the others?" Talisha asked in a commanding tone. "B-brother?!" Halina shouted in a panic. "We need to talk." Cayden said as he caught Gautum's arm.

"Ariana, please wait up." Edlyn shouted as she finally caught up to Ariana. "Why did you come here?" Ariana asked harshly as she continued to walk. Edlyn was speechless. Ariana had never talked to her in such a tone. "I was worried." Edlyn replied. Ariana said nothing and just kept on walking. "Where are you going?" Edlyn asked. "Back to the Academy." Ariana replied instantly. "Oh but there's a barrier." Edlyn said awkwardly.

"I'll use the portal." Ariana said in a harsh tone. "You can't, it's gone." Edlyn informed. "Then I will tear a hole in the f*cking barrier!" Ariana shouted as she finally face Edlyn. "I," Edlyn started to say but her lips trembled in fear. "Look, I can't deal with you right now. I have sh*t to do and I really don't want to be held back." Ariana said as her eyes flashed with rage and fear. "I can help you." Edlyn said cautiously.

"No Edlyn you can't." Ariana replied coldly. "You can't do anything but stay out of my way." She continued as she took a few steps towards Edlyn. "That's not true! I can help." Edlyn stuttered. "Really? What about helping your beloved fiance? Hmm? Did you know he's the monster that has been attacking me? Did you know I am the only one that has the power to help him, or can you help me take away all those church members's powers?"

"But then again I could be wrong, Edlyn did you know that we were on lock down because the church invaded the city and started to collect the citizens. Yup, it was a f*cking party all up in here! People screaming, crying, dying, absolute destruction, it was quite a sight. They were even kidnapping people and taking them to some underground facility, so they could sort them out and brainwash the cream of the crop and turn the others into jewels."

"Must be painful though, well at least I think it might be painful. You know since I change into some variation of it.... Hey Edlyn, you know my kind finds the eyes of the people who are turned into jewels a complete delicacy. I wonder how much they pay for them on the market or how much those doors costed the Grand Council, you know, they are decorated with the body parts of those transformed people..." Ariana said as a wicked smiled spread across her face. Edlyn turned ghostly white and her knees had gone weak.

Ariana raised her hand and pushed Edlyn down. "See, you can't even stomach all that! How the hell are you supposed to help me Edlyn? You should just stay away from me. Don't follow me anymore and most of all don't ever think we are friends. I'm done with you." Ariana said coldly as she stood over Edlyn. "Ariana?" Edlyn called out weakly. "Let the others know too. I am done with everyone." She said then turned around and walked away, leaving Edlyn to sit on the ground and cry.
