Chapter 239 - Where Does He Run To?

(Jane's PoV)

As expected.

Tom was too prideful. See? He left me even before he talked to my father properly. He could even be said as impulsive as he did what he wanted right away.

I understood that it might sting a bit knowing that I knew more than him, but it was not intentional. I had been thinking of how to make him realized his weakness, but I had never thought he would take this decision.

Was he really leaving just like that?

He had not had a proper conversation with my father yet! Was he really leaving?

"Where does he run to?" My father's voice travelled to my ears, successfully snapped me out from my annoyance.

"There must be something urgent for him to leave with Siji." My mouth twitched as I uttered that lie.

"Isn't he your boyfriend? He is the one who called me Future Father-in-law just now, right? Where does he run to?" My father asked again, seemingly not satisfied with my answer.

"Dad, he is indeed my boyfriend. And where he went to, I have no idea since Siji is with him. They could be anywhere." I shrugged my shoulders as I tried to explain it to my father as calm as possible.

It looked like I didn't care about his departure at all, that his presence was insignificant to me, but deep inside I was feeling annoyed and grumpy.

"Well, at least one fly has gone away." My father harrumphed slightly as he flicked his sleeves and turned around.

I could only shake my head helplessly seeing my father stubbornness in getting between us young couple. I wonder how long it would last, though.

"How is your father?" Sanji asked as soon as he got near me.

I sighed. "He still insists that you guys are pests." I shrugged my shoulders.

Sanji arched his beautiful eyebrows as his eyes blinking innocently. "It's understandable, though. Even though your father agreed to our arrangement of getting us engaged, I guess when the time really comes, he won't bear to let you go. After all, you are his one and only child. A precious daughter, on top of that. If I were to have a daughter as lovely as you, I would act the same, too." Sanji nodded his head, acknowledging my father's behavior with a look of admiration in his gaze.

I glared at him speechlessly. Still, what he said really made sense. There was no way I could argue about that. Therefore, picking my choice wisely, I turned around and followed my father inside. I heard Sanji chuckled behind me, but I ignored him.

Humph, let's see how long you can agree to that.

We spent our night in that house. Fortunately, there was no more attack happened that night. Even though the night was still eerie, it was rather calm. However, I doubt the King of Devil from Red Sea would stop his attack. The moment those nasty shadows were eradicated, I was sure he would get the message.

Well, if he was smart, then he would realize that he couldn't do anything to the Queen's son anymore. However, as a proud creature, I highly doubted that he would think that way.

He would probably think that someone was challenging his power and he must be rushing his way here.

Facing a King of Devil, could I do it?

Even though the night passed by with much uneasiness, we managed to go through it.

When the morning came, I was greeted with Sanji's sullen face. He was stealing glances at me from the other end of the front yard where he was standing with my father, talking who knows what.

Why he was sullen, I had no idea.

But, seconds later he changed his expression to a smiling one when my father asked him something. His sullen expression had nowhere to be seen, making me giggled seeing how fast his expression changed.

I was doing some streching in the terrace while looking at the green view of the forest nearby. The air was still so fresh, with hint of mist here and there while the sun was still shyly peeking from the top of the trees. It was an indescribable sight to see as it was rare to find this kind of scenery in my daily life.

The beautiful lush of green refreshed and occupied my mind for a while, made me unaware of the glances Sanji threw at me. Only after I saw sparks of familiar power did I realize that something was off. My eyes followed the source of the sparks and finally met his burning gaze. My eyebrows arched as I silently asked him what he was staring at me for.

What he did caught me off guard for a second. How did he become so shameless? Why did he do that? What if my father saw what he did? My face burned up at the thought.

Thank God my father didn't see that. Sanji could be a pervert sometime.

Before something bad happened because of Sanji's perverseness, I thought that we must leave as soon as possible. Therefore, I talked to my father and the Queen about several things that the queen must pay attention to regarding her son, as well as making sure that my father went to England to reunite with my mother, before I made an excuse to go alone.

"Where are you going anyway?" My father asked in suspicion. His gaze towards Sanji was even more hostile. "Is he coming with you?"

"Dad, I need to search for something. Don't mind me. I'll be find. Since Tom isn't here, it's only right to bring Sanji with me. He is enough to take care of me." I reasoned with him.

That was not entirely wrong since I really needed to find any clues about Death Volcano or something like that. I didn't want him to know about the said volcano since it might sound a terrible place considering the domineering name.

"Young ma, lay a finger on her and you'll see hell." My father threatened Sanji with all seriousness.

Sanji laughed awkwardly as he shook his head, FAKING HIS FEAR towards my father. "I won't dare."

Yes. He faked it.

"You and your father need to answer to me if something happens to my girl, fiancee or not." My father's glare was something I was proud of. It would always successfully scare people away.

But I doubted it worked on Sanji.

Several threats later, I was ready to depart with Sanji tailing behind me. The Queen had promised that she would send my father back safely and make sure he bought ticket and board the plane to England herself. She would take her son with her so that she could nurse him back to health by herself.

She didn't mention anything about our previous talk but from her gaze alone, I could see that she was not giving up yet.

What a stubborn woman!

After making sure that everything was ready, I opened a portal to return to the Y City. There was something I needed to inspect before I started planning where to go.
