(Tom's PoV)

During my whole life, I rarely cursed. Even though I am a man and I was surrounded by tough guys and they swore and cursed a lot, I was raised by my mother to mind every words I would say. Speak nicely, she said. A man of manner was much better than a man of matter. The way you spoke and chose your words represented your true self.

Therefore, even though I was not really good at talking good, I was sure with my ability not to curse and swore.

But, at this particular moment, I had a strong urge to curse loudly.

Not only because of the lava under my feet, but also because I noticed a strange phenomenon from up above it.

The biggest hole with sizzling lava was in a shape of grinning devil. There were two small holes above it, right at the place of eyes. I didn't want to think that it was a very big creature under my feet, waiting for me to enter its mouth, but somehow I got the feeling that it was really a gigantic creature.

What the hell was that?!

To my surprised, the big grinning hole moved a bit and a loud roar was heard, along with the hot wind came upon me. Sparks of fire and lava hit me, but thanks to my shield, I was left unscathed. Still, my shield couldn't really protect me from the heat.

But, that's not the point!

The hole was really a mouth!

As if to confirm that what I've been thinking of was right, the two little holes were blinking twice. Then, the same roar was heard again.

"Come to me, human! Come to me!" A loud and hoarse voice reverberating around me. "Let me taste your flesh! Let me drink your blood!"

I sneered. "Not even in your dream." I hissed.

I swung the chain around my right foot and aimed in towards the left eye of the unknown creature. I didn't think it would work since its body was made of lava but as the big nail on the other side of the chain entered the hole, the creature let out painful roar and the big nail was stuck in it.

The mountain size creature moved wildly and because the chain was still attached to my foot, I moved along with the sway.

"Pain! Pain! Pain! Stupid human hurt me! Pain!" The creature wailed loudly. Lava started to shoot out from its mouth, creating a vision like an erupting volcano.

"The stupid one is YOU!" I roared as I threw the chain on my left foot towards its other eye. Again, it stuck inside and the creature moved even wilder.

"Ah! Ah! Ah! Stupid human pierced my eyes! He makes me blind!" The wailed got louder and louder that I had a hard time keeping my rationality in check.

Gritting my teeth, I pulled the chains up again. Using my feet to control the chains was really hard. I preferred it to chain up my hands instead of my feet.

As I thought so, the chains around my feet lighted up and moved onto my wrists. I looked at it wide eyes.

What the hell happened?

Did it really change place like how I asked it?

As much as I wanted to find out about it, I knew I couldn't waste anymore time.

In a second, I would be swallowed by this strange creature.

I swung the chain in my right hand towards the outer area where no holes with lava were seen. The big nail on the other side of the chain stuck in the ground but the tremor from the strange creature made the chain wobbled. Still, I pulled myself towards it. As long as I didn't land on the lava, I thought I could make it alive.

I breathed out a sigh of relief as my feet touched the hard ground. Finally, with the ground under my feet, I didn't think I would be scared of anything.

The ground was still shaking and the wail got louder. Knowing that the tremor came from the creature, I was standing calmly as my hands rolled the chains around them. Only after I finished rolling it I noticed the chains had turned black like a coal with a bit of heat inside. The red lines on it was barely visible, but I knew it was still there. It might sound weird, but I was comfortable with the chain being around my hands.

"Huh? It woke up?" The childish voice was heard again.

I looked up, but the dense darkness made me unable to see anything, not even with the help of the lava near me. My shield was still on, protecting me from the heat.

"Who woke up?" The thundering voice was back again.

"The volcano. But, it doesn't spew lava like I thought."

"Maybe it has consumed the human that's why it felt satisfied."

"You're right. The human is nowhere to be seen."

My eyes and lips twitched. Who are these people? They were so casual with the whole situation I was sure it was not the first time a human was sent here. But, I guessed all the humans from before were ended up in the lava as sacrifices as they told before.

"But, the volcano made a strange noises and movement. What's wrong?" The childish voice drew nearer and I squinted my eyes to catch the figure.

I was waiting, seconds ticked by and it felt like hours. It only took five seconds, but I grew nervous with each second. Five seconds later, my eyes widened to the point it was almost bulged out of its socket.

What kind of creature is that?
