Chapter 118 - Lisa; Sooner or Later, I Will Find The Truth! (3)

(Jane's PoV)

As I was still mulling over the fact that none of what they were talking about made sense, both of them had continued talking. I was sure I paid attention to them, but I couldn't make a head or tail to what they were talking about. I could only catch some words such as 'the chosen one' being repeated and 'the world is changing'.

By the time I came to my senses, they had concluded their conversation and somehow I got a 'token of acceptance' from the elder.

"My name is Guntur Bharata. The girl you met before is my great-great-granddaughter, our dearest descendant who possesses the ability to inherit the family but refuses to do so. Since her father had closed her ability, we have no way to persuade her to accept her fate." The old man sighed.

Her father closed her ability? She is the same as me, then!

But, mine was locked, not closed by my father. It also had a time limit and when I turned seventeen, I had started to 'feel' them. I also accepted my ability, even though I was not excited to do so but things happened and I didn't have the chance to refuse it.

Besides, I didn't know what exactly happened to Lisa that made her refused her fate to inherit the family. I guessed I just needed to find the right time to ask her about it.

"You don't need to introduce your name. Number Seven had told me about you." He waved his hand impatiently before I could even produce any sound. This old man was quite sassy, huh? "Take this. This world will be shaken in a while but I hope you can calm it down later." The old man tossed me a long white silk scarf which was almost as light as feather.

I held the scarf in my hands in confusion. What is it for?

As if sensing my confusion, the old man sneered. His eyes reflected his mocking towards me. "You'll need it when you meet that old woman under the water."

Old Woman under the water? Did he mean the Queen of South Sea?

By the time I came to my senses, the old man had walked out of the house and disappeared in the dark night. Since the source of my answer had gone, I could only turn to the second person who was involved in the previous conversation.

"Milady, your eyes scared me." Siji stepped back as my eyes met his. It was so rare to see him getting fl.u.s.tered but I wouldn't back down. Not now.

"Speak. What do you know?"

"About what?"

I smiled. "Don't play dumb with me."

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Milady." He smiled nervously.

"Oh really?" He must have known that I was being sarcastic with him as he grew anxious.

"The Elders are calling for me. I need to go!" With that, he turned around and disappeared.

Running away, huh? I smirked. Seeing he was getting so fl.u.s.tered over a simple question from me, I guessed it was not something he could divulge so freely to me. There must be a rule to that. But, sooner or later, I would know everything I needed to know.

There's no need to be overly anxious about it, then.

As I thought so, I walked into my bedroom and let the dream fairy took me to my dream.

After that night visit, Sir Guntur had not come to my house again. However, Siji would disappear occasionally. Compared with the hidden information of me that they had talked about before, I was more curious about Siji's past.

I shook my head. I was distracted again. Right now, my priority was Lisa. I needed to know about her. I had known that the powerful figures behind her was probably being tied down by Sir Guntur and it would be related to his identity which was hard for me to find out, but as I was seeing her more and more these days, I noticed a Shadow was following her.

But, the old man and his men didn't take any movement towards that Shadow which only led me to two options; first, they didn't know about the Shadow existence or it could the Shadow was not invading their range of protection, and second, the Shadow was related to them.

I was more inclined towards the first option, actually.

At first I thought it was a lost Shadow, or a Shadow without Master. But as I kept seeing it every time I met Lisa, I noticed that this Shadow had its eyes on Lisa. But, with the protection of her ancestors, I doubt this thing would ever lay its fingers on her.

Still, I was curious. To have a Shadow followed like this was not something good. It was mostly because the person the shadow was following was cursed by someone and surely the intention was either to kill the person or just torturing him/her.

I thought, Lisa must have been in contact with some dark magic before. But that thought went as soon as it came because I had no proof that she was involved in dark magic.

So, what was the problem?

It wouldn't take long for me to find the answer. Behind her bright smile, Lisa was hiding a deep scar that would always haunt her whenever and wherever.
