140 A Sight to Behold

Jimmy frowned, then shrugged in disappointment. He looked at his watch, let out a deep sigh, and held Ben's finger in his own hand. Walking out of the room with the boy, he said, "Let's go look for your mother, chap. I doubt she's even got ready yet."

Ben nodded, smiling lightly.

Jim smiled back, then sighed again.

Considering the missus's mood from earlier, he was half sure she would still be in the room sulking. The thought made him chuckle, but it also distressed him somewhat. The girl had been worried before. He wasn't totally disregarding her feelings – she was Ben's mommy after all. It was natural for her to be stressed over the fact that she wasn't the one affording Ben's education. But now that Jim thought about it, he realized how bereft the girl herself was, when it came to having confidence in her own skills.

He remembered the small incident from before when she had insisted that she was ugly. And in contradiction to it, Jimmy recalled the very first day of their meet – when they had stood in an alley, surrounded by hoodlums. How she had held three bricks in her hand, and had been threatening three men before herself. One stout old man had been lying unconscious on the road beside her. Not to mention the occasion when she had dangled upside down from a tree and held Simon Hunter's arm.

It was kind of baffling to Jimmy, how a woman like her couldn't believe in her capability.

It was so troublesome!

Jimmy shrugged, and chatted some more with the child. He was walking towards the room he had left Miya in, when he heard a small gasp.

Miya, who had herself been going to meet up the boys, stopped midway between her tracks.

An involuntary gasp escaped her throat and her mouth fell open wide. She covered it instantly with both her palms.

Ben and Jimmy were walking in her direction when she saw them both. And boy, was she ready to pass out.

The two boys were donned in similar suits. They walked hand in hand, looking the perfect image of a father and son, complete with their gorgeous smiles and beautiful eyes. The charisma they held right then took her breath away.

It was out worldly – dazzling enough to make her stagger.

This…

They had worn similar clothes before – but this… it was different. It wasn't cute – it was… a sight to behold. Miya couldn't put it into words. Her eyes widened, and she shivered slightly.

Beautiful… too beautiful…

How could they be so beautiful?

Her body didn't react, she just stood there transfixed, her heart racing.

Why did the two look so perfect?

And had she just thought… father and son?

Meanwhile Jimmy too, stopped moving.

His heart thudded, and dropped to the bottom of his stomach.

She… what?

Jim blinked, his eyes not ready to believe.

The girl who stood before him wasn't his wife.

No… this wasn't beautiful. She wasn't pretty… It was…

She was suave, stunning like a piece of art. For a brief second, their eyes met, and Jimmy felt goose bumps crawl across his skin.

Hot…

The young master enclosed his mouth with the palm of his right hand and looked away. His heart started beating a bit too fast, and he couldn't control the faint blush that crept across his face. He knew she was attractive…

But to this extent?

Either side refused to move.

It was Ben who broke the steam, and walked to his mother first.

"Mommy!" the little boy said excitedly, "You look so pretty! My mommy is the most beautiful!"

Miya withdrew her gaze, and immediately picked up the boy in her arms. Her legs felt weak right then, but she embraced the child with all her strength.

"My baby looks so grown up too," she whispered, still disoriented, "You're the beautiful one, Ben, you're perfection child."

Ben chuckled, and snuggled closer to his mommy.

"I and Jimmy wore same clothes to surprise you," he said cheerfully, "Are you happy, mum?"

Miya took a short glance at Jimmy, who was looking away, somehow blushing. Her own face turned pink and she removed her gaze.

"Very," she said.

"Then should we go?"

"Y-Yes."

"Jimmy?"

Jim heard Ben's voice when he called out to him. Jim still wasn't in control of his feelings, so the young master turned around, his back now facing the mother and son. He roughly pushed a hand across his hair and muttered in his most concerted voice, "You g-go along. I'll be right there. I've told Chenric to prepare the car."

Ben frowned at the response, and would have argued, but his mommy quickly turned around herself and walked away with him.

Somehow, the boy could hear the thump of mommy's heart when she hugged him tighter.

What was going on?

Jimmy closed his eyes. The image of the girl flashed in his head once again, and his eyes flew open wide, as if he had been electrocuted. His heart raced once more, making the young master curse.

F***.

Who the f*** had told her to dress up like that?

Half part of him danced in joy, the other half sombre and sullen like a murky sun. How was he going to keep his hands off her now?

They were going to a school, damnit!

Just as the young man was lost in his own thoughts, a pair of footsteps approached him.

"Miya, you –"

Jimmy turned around at once, startled at the sound of another voice. When he did, he immediately came face to face with Rebecca. The woman started too, surprised to see Jimmy Hunter standing in the hallway.

"Where's Miya?" she asked, looking around.

"Huh…?"

Rebecca frowned. She took in Jim's appearance, the dazed look in his eyes, his dishevelled hair. He looked very handsome in his grey suit, but something about his demeanour seemed odd.

A smile spread across the girl's face.

If that was a reaction to his seeing Miya, then this man had fallen hard for her little punk. Right then, Rebecca felt cheeky.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?"

Jimmy didn't realize when he looked distractedly into space and muttered quietly in response, "Incredibly breathtakingly beautiful."

Rebecca grinned.
