108 Guilty, But No Regrets

He wanted to beat the belief that he was living off his grandfather's legacy. 'As if I want to live a dangerous life…' Zang Fang thought to himself.

These two points still were not enough for Zang Fang. Right now, though, his goals did not factor into his reason for wanting to come back to this country. It was the place that he almost lost his life. If not for someone saving him, could he even go to the Zang family and exact revenge?

But now, his one and only reason was that he couldn't quite get a girl out of his mind.

'My girl.' Zang Fang corrected himself with a shake of his head. His girl.

He remembered the time he was chilling in a bar. She'd come into the bar he'd been brooding at looking just the way he felt. Tired, angry at the world, and very much alone. Zang Fang knew he wasn't alone. A few seconds before the lady walked in, and he'd shooed of another girl who'd been determined to get into his pants.

All he had to do was pick up his phone and text anyone on his contact list, and they'll be there as soon as they got the text.

Then his mind drifted back to the present. 'Well, not everyone would give him attention.' Zang Fang had thought that night. Suzuki Kyou wouldn't have arrived the minute he texted.

He'd call Zang Fang and tell him to get to work ASAP, without as much as a hello and goodbye before cutting the call. Well, they do have a strange friendship as he met Suzuki Kyou in University. They were classmates in a sense, but the guy was too silent for him to be so close to anyone.

Suzuki Kyou is a man that has both parents from Country J. While Zang Fang only has his mother coming from there. They only got more interaction in a professional sense when he was setting up his hotel business a couple of years ago.

Zang Fang smiled ruefully to himself. Nevertheless, Suzuki Kyou was still one of his close friends. He even helped him hide when he was recovering in the country. That was why Zang Fang hadn't called him as well.

Despite the fact that this, Zang Fang's thoughts kept drifting back to the event more than a month ago.

That night in the bar was also the night were Zang Fang was injured. He was only tipsy, thankfully. If not, he was not able to avoid having a knife stabbed on his heart.

Still, he was bleeding hard and running for his life. He ended up hiding in a stranger's car. That time Zang Fang was really grateful that someone was stupid enough to leave the car door unlocked.

Zang Fang was more surprised that it was the same girl in the bar that he failed to approach. Probably if he did, he would not be stabbed, and instead, he was stabbing her to the height of pleasure? It was a bad joke, but he was on the verge of losing consciousness, sue him.

He had remembered asking her for help, and weakly telling her not to bring him to a doctor, before losing consciousness.

When he woke after that, he was in a hotel room, his wound already cleaned up and dressed. The way it was done was not proper, but it will do just fine. With that, he realized that the woman must have helped him. Zang Fang was thankful that he was not in a hospital. Since he got a questionable stab wound, it won't be good for officials to question him, with his background and all.

That time, it was too difficult for him to stand up, even going to the bathroom, so he often slept. When he woke up, there would be covered food on the bedside table. It was often cold, but he did not mind. However, he was starting to feel that the woman who helped him seemed to avoid him.

For a couple of days, he did not see the shadow of the woman. His bed was placed in a way that he could not even see if someone was peeking through the door. So when he was strong enough, he was stood up and left the room.

He seemed to be staying at a barely furnished apartment. There was barely anything there, like the place was not used regularly.

There was at least a sofa where he could sit and wait for his life savior. There was no need for him to wait for long. The girl arrived with a pack of food. Just like how he has seen her before, Zang Fang still finds her beautiful. Yet he felt sad that she looked vulnerable. By just looking at him, she could not hide the worry.

Zang Fang felt bitter. The first time he saw her, he knew that he wanted more than a hookup. But, a woman like her would not be able to stand his life that is full of danger.

So instead, he acted grateful and friendly. The least he could do was to make sure that there was no bad blood between them aside from the fact that she needed to keep his injury a secret.

Their interaction was really reserve. She was the silent type and seemed to understand that asking him about what happened was not a good idea.

They had a keen understanding to keep things simple. She will help Zang Fang recover while he would eventually return the favor. The apartment has two rooms, and because of that, there was no need to interact much. Aside from helping him, change the bandage of his wound or giving him food.

Some days she would give him a bottle do alcohol to drink, despite his wounds. Which he accepts but don't drink at all. She was drunk sometimes and thought that Zang Fang was harmless.

After a couple more days, he could already leave. Zang Fang was reluctant. That was the same night when she arrived in the apartment smelling like alcohol again.

Who knows what possessed him, but Zang Fang had not hesitated. He had taken advantage of her. Zang Fang felt like an asshole, especially when he realized that he was a virgin. Yes, he is a bastard to take advantage of a drunken woman who saved his life. He deserves to be roasted like a pig.

He felt guilty for doing it at a very wrong time. Zang Fang felt so guilty to the point of embarrassment when the next morning, she'd left the apartment before he woke up. Her scent had been on his pillows, and her underwear still on the floor of the room.

Zang Fang did not know how to face her, because though he felt guilty, he did not regret it. The only thing that he could probably regret did not know her full name. She never wanted him to know, after all.

The same day, he left that apartment, but she never left his life.

He had called Suzuki Kyou the same day, asking for help. Zang Fang knew that the one who stabbed him was sent by an enemy. That was the reason why he needed to lay low.

Knowing this, Zang Fang also realized that he needed to stay away from her, else her life would be in danger.

Thankfully, Suzuki Kyou had helped him hide somewhere to recover for a couple more days before he was sent back home overseas using the Suzuki Corp private jet. Zang Fang had dealt a lot of things when he got home, distracting him from the girl's memory.

Then, Suzuki Kyou demanded for him to go to the overseas resort and supervise the construction. Zang Fang had gone hoping he'd be back in a week after sorting things out with the rest of the resort crew. He'd not expected his foreman to be reckless with the project funds, the one week he was expecting turned into a month.
