Chapter 20 - Who's Dying?

Was his smile so ugly for her to compare it to the smile of a murderer? Lu He Yan was aggrieved by her innocent question.

Like Kaisar, he was also a good-looking man with a charming smile. He wasn't lacking in terms of females admirers. He could also easily dominate Kaisar if only he wasn't three inches smaller than his best friend.

What Lu He Yan didn't know was that it wasn't because of his height that made Kaisar more superior between the two of them. It was the fact that Kaisar remained unfazed even when he was faced by the most beautiful woman in the world while Lu He Yan would most probably try to hit on the woman and flash his charming smile to make her fall for him.

What the ambitious women couldn't get, the more its value skyrocketed. Hence, making Kaisar more attractive and worth seducing.

"You're not going to eat, doctor?" Lu He Yan snapped out of his thoughts as he heard Yang Mi asking.

Sitting on the couch across him, Yang Mi was stuffing her mouth with the food that he ordered from a posh restaurant. It was supposed to be his midnight meal as he didn't get to eat earlier because he was busy inside the operating room.

As a doctor, Lu He Yan mostly spends his time in his office or inside the operating room. When he didn't have anything on his schedule, he would take a tour around the city and go to some parties where he could meet his friends. If there's still free time, he would go on dates with anyone who could catch his interest.

And seeing her eat like a hamster and didn't even care about how she looked like from other people's perspectives, Lu He Yan couldn't help but feel like she was indeed an interesting character.

Unfortunately, he wasn't the one who found her first. It was his best friend, Kaisar.

That man also needed to get some changes in his life. For example; getting a girlfriend and making his family proud by extending the Chu family's bloodline.

"No, it's fine. You can have it." Lu He Yan told her as he took a picture of her and sending the photo to Kaisar.

He wondered what kind of expression will Kaisar have on his face once he found the lady he saved sitting and eating in his office. If they're lucky, Kaisar will probably take a look at it and send him a reply after a while. But if they're not lucky, the man will surely ignore it and block Lu He Yan's number.

Lu He Yan put his phone on the coffee table and was about to get a mug of hot coffee when not even a minute has passed and his phone was already ringing.

He whistled at how quickly he got a response from his best friend. Wanting to tease Kaisar, he took his sweet time to get the phone.

When he finally answered, he heard Kaisar from the other side of the phone say, "Why the hell is she in your office? Aren't she supposed to be recovering in her room? And why is she eating something heavy when she just had her surgery two days ago?!"

Lu He Yan was speechless at the strings of questions Kaisar shot to his way. He didn't expect that he would react like this when Lu He Yan only sent the photo of her eating to him.

Lu He Yan knew that it was bad for a patient who had surgery since he's a doctor. He initially wanted to give her the salad that he ordered along with the many others. But Yang Mi insisted and forced him to give the rest to her.

"Relax, bro." Lu He Yan said finally. "She won't die if she eats some of those. It'll only slow down the healing process but it'll be good for her body. And besides, she's mostly eating fish and chicken so it's okay."

Lean proteins are essential to the body and it'll help to recover the energy of a patient so there was not much harm done if Yang Mi eats some of it. Lu He Yan obviously didn't give it to her without thinking about how it would affect her body.

"Who's going to die?" Yang Mi suddenly asked when she heard Lu He Yan speaking to the phone.

"No one." Lu He Yan covered the phone so Kaisar won't hear him.

Yang Mi sighed in relief. If the doctor told her that she'll die because she ate some of his food, she'll probably throw it all up so she could preserve this body. Dying because of having lost all her love points was one thing but dying in an accident was another.

Both were unacceptable to Yang Mi as she finally wanted to keep this body of hers and she'd like to keep it that way for several years.

Watching the doctor talking to the phone, Yang Mi focused her mind on what's in front of her. The food was really delicious and she couldn't stop stuffing her mouth even after the first bite.

She completely forgot that she needed to get some love points to extend her remaining life.

But it seems that she doesn't have anything to worry about as Lu He Yan has a plan to make her stay beside Kaisar.

Listening to Kaisar scolding him, Lu He Yan huffed and said, "Alright, alright. Enough. If you're so worried about her, why don't you just take her home and help her recover?"
