Chapter 6 - A Good-For-Nothing

"You..."

Chen Jia Jun was stunned by Li Tian's words as he gave Lin Yi a confused look.

"Jia Jun, he's really my husband. His name is Li Tian and, we're... mar-...we're married."

Lin Yi held her head low as she spoke. It was evident that she still found it hard to say the word 'husband'.

At this moment, Chen Jia Jun's expression turned sour.

Sh*t, this is embarrassing!

Chen Jia Jun held himself back and smiled, "Oh, it's Mr. Li. Sorry, it was my fault for misunderstanding."

"I don't care if you misunderstood, but I don't want to see you using your lies to deceive my wife. She's naive and perhaps trusts you too much, which is why she'd believe your story."

Li Tian hadn't calmed down at all, but upon seeing that Lin Yi valued this man, he held back from making matters worse.

Li Tian's words caused Lin Yi's cheeks to flush. She's naive?

However, Chen Jia Jun raised his eyebrows.

"Mr. Li, what do you mean?"

"What do I mean? The story that you've just told is completely false. You had made up those stories, do you really want me to expose your lies?"

"You... Mr. Li, I respect you as Xiao Yi's husband, but please respect yourself. You're saying that I made up false stories, and that my four years in the military were fake? Xiao Yi, it seems like your home doesn't welcome me. Next time, we should meet elsewhere."

After speaking, Chen Jia Jun turned around and walked towards the door.

Lin Yi stood up and exclaimed, "Jia Jun, don't mind him. He's... He's just joking, I believe you."

Lin Yi said, with pursed lips.

Her words were tantamount to a thunderstorm to Li Tian;s ears.

Chen Jia Jun chuckled. Lin Yi was still the same girl who adored him. She had chosen to side with him rather than her own husband.

Li Tian also chuckled, but with an extreme amount of bitterness instead.

"From what I can tell, your story was completely made up! On the battlefield, no one would heroically sacrifice themselves to save another man, so don't make yourself look more noble than you really are! Your stories only exist in fairytales, it just proves how much of an amateur you really are, because someone who's actually experienced in regards to the battlefield wouldn't say such things!"

After speaking, Li Tian lit up a cigarette before leaving the villa.

As he walked towards the doors, he spoke abruptly, "Lin Yi, I know you don't like me and you're not happy with this marriage. If this is the case, there's no need to continue with this marriage. Isn't there a rule that you can't get divorced within the first three months of marriage? Then, let's meet three months later. But let me warn you, that person named Jia Jun is a good-for-nothing!"

Upon finishing speaking, his silhouette quickly disappeared from the villa.

Lin Yi felt as though her heart was aching upon seeing Li Tian's expression as he spoke.

He seemed extremely sincere, and no one would think that Li Tian's words were lies, even though it did seem a little selfish.

However, you had to be selfish on the battlefields.

What's wrong with being a little selfish in order to live? It wasn't like Chen Jia Jun's story, where your own life was precious, but the lives of others weren't.

Lin Yi felt suffocated upon hearing Li Tian's words.

What did he mean? He wanted a divorce?

She had gone through so much, but never considered getting a divorce, so what gave him...the rights?

Lin Yi was clearly upset, and saw that Chen Jia Jun was also in a bad mood. After apologising, she excused herself and went back to her room.

Chen Jia Jun felt embaressed if he were to stay any longer, so after saying goodbye to Wang Ma, he left the villa. However, Wang Ma noticed the bitterness in his eyes.

Despite being an outsider, Wang Ma had nonetheless lived for decades. Chen Jia Jun was good looking, but he made her feel quite uncomfortable. Although Li Tian appeared rough, he was far more easier to get along with.

Usually, she always had a lot to say in front of Lin Yi, but ever since Li Tian came, she had barely spoken. She had already passed the age of judging people by their first impressions. After three days, Wang Ma felt that Li Tian had a good personality and was very reliable.

Lin Yi's actions today had hurt Li Tian. Wang Ma didn't know whether Chen Jia Jun was telling the truth or spitting out lies, but she believed in Li Tian's words.

...

After Li Tian left, he continued smoking a few more cigarettes. Subconsciously, he had walked to the river bordering the villa.

The entire villa was surrounded by a small river, which seemed quite sloppy.

As for dinner, Li Tian wasn't in the mood to go back to eat. He had said all he had wanted to say, and had already let go of his feelings.

Didn't Lin Yi hate him for his rude behaviour and lack of motivation?

In actuality, Li Tian had felt quite tired in these three days. In the beginning, he had confidence and thought since they were already married, he wanted to put in his efforts to keep the marriage. However, he had now understood what Qin Yu Han said to him previously, that you can't force feellings.

Li Tian found a place to sit down after walking along the river. The sun was setting, and he didn't know where to go.

Li family? He didn't have any hope for that place.

After he turned 10, Li Tian had never returned home. From what he'd remembered, his grandfather cared about him, but he didn't have any memories of any other people, including his own father.

This time, Li Tian only came back because his grandfather had passed away.

It was laughable to him that until this day, Li Tian still didn't know who his mother was.

Since he was young, he had always been accompanied by his aunt.

When he turned 10 and his aunt had turned 14, the both of them had ran away from home and never returned.

It wasn't that they didn't want to return, but they couldn't. They were trafficked to Thailand and sold to Siberia.

He still remembered how cold it was in Siberia, and how the two of them were secretly trained to be 'killers'.

After killing for five years, Li Tian and his aunt couldn't even count how many times their hands were drenched in blood.

Luckily, the two of them survived.

They were seriously injured but had to cross the snow-capped mountains and deserts. Occasionally, they would catch a centipede in the desert but Qin Yu Han had always saved it to feed him.

At that time, Qin Yu Han was Li Tian's biggest pillar of support.

After escaping for roughly a year whilst killing countless enemies, they had finally reached Africa.

Ten years afterwards, the two of them had formed their own mercenary teams, and Li Tian had gained recognition in the area.

'Devil' was the name that the African savannah's mercenary team had given Li Tian.

He could destroy a tribe of more than 30 people single-handedly, and even be able to escape. No one could ever break his record.

However, recently, Qin Yu Han had asked him to go return back to China as she received the news that Li family's head had passed away.

As for his own mother's identity, every time Li Tian asked Qin Yu Han, she would always say, "She's dead!"

She had left without traces, so how is that any different from being dead?

His father? Pfft, Li Tian had never considered him as his father.

Would a father sit still and not do anything even if his own child was being bullied?

As he reminisced, Li Tian felt more upset.

Everything seemed like fallen leaves to him, and he couldn't see the end.
