Chapter 242 - 242: Her Last Dance

From a distance, Maxine could see Halora's sad reaction. And she knew Halora became an orphan when she was still a child, she used her weaknesses behind her back.

"You looked stunning, Maxine! And I can't believe my baby girl is a grown-up woman now!"

"And I am thankful that you convinced him to be here tonight, father!" she replied that almost melt her heart in joy.

Without her parents' connection, a grandiose party wouldn't be possible. Her enchanted plans would happen only in her dreams.

And she didn't know what to do when she has a poor family to support to.

"I love you, honey. Don't be sad anymore, do you understand?"

"Yes daddy, and I love you too! Thank you for everything you did just for me."

Maxine gave her father a warm embrace that convinced the crowd to clap their hands that created a beautiful melody that inspired her to reveal her biggest surprise for the girl she hated the most.

But before she let go of him, she stooped closer and whispered to his ears and a wide smile flourished on her face.

"Enjoy the rest of the party, honey. Your mother and I will attend something important for you, okay?"

Maxine was caught off guard when she heard those words from them. How could they leave and attend an urgent meeting when it was their daughter's biggest day?

She wanted to scream and beg, but she knew how it would end. And instead of doing something, she shook her head.

"It's fine with me, daddy. But when you have still time left, please come back with mom before the party is over."

"I will, honey. Good luck and check out our gifts for you once you get back home."

Disappointments plastered on her face but she managed to smile sweetly. She must enjoy the whole party or her ugly face would be recorded once she burst into anger.

But Maxine expected that they will witness one of the romantic things that happened her life but in a snap of her fingers, everything disappeared just like ashes.

"They are near but why it feels like it's difficult to reach them out?" she asked the wind but the only thing she got was a deafening silence.

However, it was not the right moment to dwell with her emotions. She must take a deep breath, look straight into her mission the reasons why she was standing on stage in front of hundreds of guests.

Few moments left; Maxine's greatest surprise is yet to come. In front of her rival, she is willing to do something even if it caused a huge impact to other people's lives.

Gracefully, she turned her gaze to the speaker who seemed nervous all out of the blue. He didn't know why but he felt a disaster approaching.

He gulped, smiled shortly at her. "And now, like a missing piece of our hearts, we will always save the best for the last."

"Tonight, while the queen nailed the velvet night, there should be a knight shining in armor that will accompany her for rest of the nocturnal."

"Are you ready to witness a romantic dance?"

The crowd laughed loudly as they yelled, "YES!"

The speaker suddenly looked throughout the guests who were all clapping, yelling discernibly like wild youngers in the middle of the street.

Until his gaze stuck on the young girl who was waiting patiently for Maxine's last dance. And as a man physically, he knew how it felt like to be hurt.

As a brother to his eight siblings, he never wanted to see his siblings crying all night long over a man.

But now, it was a different situation and he has no right to stop Maxine with her evil plans.

Through a wireless radio, he received signal from Maxine who looked into his way with a cold, dull gaze. He gulped, nodded his head in agreement.

"Thank you everyone for making this possible but…" he paused that stopped everyone especially Halora. "Let… let us… let us welcome, the debutant's last dance with… Sebastian Woo!"

Maxine smiled sweetly when she saw how Halora petrified the moment she heard her boyfriend's name.

She certainly sure that it was one of the terrible things she had ever experienced since she became the campus bad boy's girlfriend.

The crowd hailed, yelled and envied Maxine for having Sebastian as her last dance. They all knew him for being the most popular bad boy in all schools in the country.

And because of his family's name and connection, Sebastian made a great impact to all teenagers around him.

However, as part of every situation, no one appeared on stage that frightened of Maxine. Her face filled with questions that no one ever know the answers.

She looked at the way where he must appear, yet even Sebastian's shadow was nowhere to be found.

"No! No! He can't do this to me!" she began to panic.

Maxine stood from the royal chair, closed her fists until the speaker cleared his throat and tried to calm all of the guests who seemed shocked and waited for her last dance.

"Again, let us welcome, the debutant's last dance, Mr. Sebastian Woo!"

Unlike earlier, the crowd became wild but for the second time, no one dared to speak. No one appeared on stage that provoked Maxine.

She angrily stood, walked into the way where Sebastian must be waiting for his turn.

Shockingly, there was no one around that torn her heart into pieces. "No, not this time, Sebastian! Not this fucking time!"

Her voice echoed around the place that brought panic to all guests. They were all saddened by the truth that Sebastian didn't come and all of her plans drifted by away.

A deafening silence reigned for a couple of minutes while Halora looked at Jasmine's face confusingly.

"What's going on? He must be here, for heaven's sake! He's hurting Maxine!"

"What did you say? You should be laughing loudly because she's an opportunist! She thought that she can steal your boyfriend!"

Markus closed his eyes in despair but he wanted to know the truth. He sighed deeply in relief, yet, he never wished Maxine to be hurt.

Halora quickly looked around, hoping to find Sebastian.

"Where are you, Sebastian?" she murmured until she saw a familiar silhouette at the entrance.
