Chapter 119 - 119: Today Is His Birthday

Vague scenery, city lights, noises came from the vehicles was only the common thing that can be seen and heard at night.

The people who chose to wander around the city, enjoyed the cold yet dark night. There were stars, moonlight that gave peace and light to the entire place.

At the quiet rooftop of Milañosa hotel, Roy brought a case of beer as he planned to celebrate his eighteenth birthday when the midnight came.

It was eleven in the evening and he kept his words to Sebastian that they would meet in the hotel's rooftop at midnight.

He was all alone, cherishing the solitary confinement he felt at the moment. He wanted some peace and luckily, his only wish was granted when Halora and Sandra didn't bother him at all since they arrived at the hotel an hour ago.

"Fifty minutes to go," he said.

"He has still a lot of time to run fast before 12." He looked throughout the busy people, crowded structures that kept it alive and active.

He saw couples, a group of friends, a family, and even some acquaintances walked along the side as they only wanted to feel free and enjoy the cozy night with their companions.

"I missed them so much, but, I can't leave the country for now."

His hollow, bitter voice filled around the wide, open place. He was starving to death as he decided to grab the bucket of drum sticks and picked one of them.

He said, "Hmm, this gonna be the best night of my life."

While waiting for Sebastian, he opened one bottle of soda as he set aside the dozen of beer. He was still a minor after all.

"Chicken and a soda? A perfect combination." he said and gnawed it silently.

Before he pick another one, Roy looked at the grimy sky. Took a sigh when he drank all of it at once and felt something on his leg.

He quickly took it out as he realized that an unknown number was calling him. Roy was hesitant to answer it but, he needed someone, a companion who will just take a seat in front of him and listen to all rants of life.

"Hello?" he said. As his brow furrowed, frowned and a sarcastic smile on his lips vanished. "Who's this?"

"I am looking for Roy Adrian, is this his number?" The caller asked him.

At that very moment, Roy realized that in the middle of agony and solitary, there would be always someone who will make it up with you, call for you, talk to you until the pain you felt will be drifted away.

Abruptly, he chuckled, rubbed his chin and squeezed the can of soda. He then stood out of the chair he brought, leaned over to the fence.

"Yes, this is my number. And what can I do for you, Young Lady?"

The caller was stunned when she confirmed that she had dialed the correct, accurate number. She sighed, stopped herself from smiling.

"I am Zen, and I just want someone to talk to. I mean, I want to see you personally but I know you were out in the city because of the trip sponsored by the school."

"And how did you know about it?" he asked her, raised his eyebrows as if she had a chance to see it. "Do I look like working on a caller center company?"

The girl on the other line chuckled instead of being offended. She doesn't want to lose the opportunity and so, she replied, "You know what, there's no point of hiding things to others. If you like, or even love someone, be real, be brave enough to confess and show to her that you like her!"

She tried to be more jolly, frank, and silly yet, it only brought bad luck to him.

"Simple to say but difficult to do." he said. "I've been there, just happened hours ago. And I was planning to confess, but goddamn it! Why is it too fcking hard to be real in front of the girl you truly love!"

She gulped, quickly stood out of the bed and bit her lower lip. She thought it was not the right time for her silliness as she noticed that something terrible happened.

Through his hollow, deep voice, she sensed a negative energy that stayed within. But, she knew her limits and ending up the call perhaps the best thing she can do.

She blinked her eyes, grasped the curtain and she murmured, "I'm sorry for calling you this late! It was not my intention to provoke you and I think, ending up the call will be the best thing to do!"

For a moment, Roy was mesmerized by the girl's natural power. She was different, she was bold, brave and straightforward not just every girl he was with.

"No!" he scowled.

"I know you're after Halora too, but I'm gonna tell you that you will never win against the campus bad boy!"

Because of those words, the rage he tried to keep suddenly exploded. He gritted his teeth, kicked off the ground until he saw the dozens of beer.

"Fxck! Who are you, lady?! How did you know Halora? And... and Sebastian!"

"Because we're at the same school, and I know you and your not so perfect cousin, Sandra Lee."

At that moment, Roy began to think a girl that have a special connection. He knew the caller was not an ordinary girl that entered into the campus without enough money and power.

"I hate her and I am so glad that she left for almost a week!"

"Wake up, woman! Sooner or later, you will see her again. So you better hide and shut up your mouth!"

But the girl was too persistent, hard headed like a spoiled brat kid. She then chuckled, pouted her lips as she fooled the campus heartbreaker effortlessly.

However, as she was about to tell her name and apologize for being stubborn, she heard loud voices.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!"

"Today is his birthday." she whispered to the cold wind.

"Yeheeey! Make a wish, man before blowing off the candles." spoke someone from the other line.

And that was the last thing she heard until the call ended.

"toot..."
