Chapter 11 - I Will Handle It

Meanwhile, Nolan was feeling worried for Ethan and was having second thoughts about him supporting Ethan to fight Ken. He was not worried about fighting along with Ethan, but Ken had a number of lackeys behind him, and taking them all on was suicide. And this was ignoring the potential danger towards Ethan's mother.

This was why he didn't tell Ethan to fight back after losing against Ken and his gang after he and Ethan got beaten up by them for standing up against them.

He was now already worried for his sister, and now he didn't want his best friend to end up in trouble, especially with his mom if she came to learn something terrible happened to him.

So he decided to approach his sister and ask her for advice since she always seemed to have some solution for everything.

Sui was preparing things to cook dinner when Nolan timidly entered the kitchen and asked, "Sis, can I tell you something?"

"If it is about what happened before, don't. I told you to let me handle it," Sui sternly said without turning around as she continued to slice the carrots.

"No, no. It's not about that. It's about Ethan."

Sui momentarily paused cutting the carrots before resuming as she asked, "What about him?"

"Well, you have to first promise me that you won't tell anybody else about this, including even his mom, no matter how friendly you are with her. Okay? This is very important, or he will get really pissed," Nolan stressed since he didn't want Ethan to kill him later if Sui told his mom.

Sui pulled her brows together, feeling that something was off. Still, she said, "Okay. I promise."

Nolan took a deep breath and said with a sigh, "Well, actually, Ethan is getting bullied in school."

"What?" Sui's movements suddenly froze as the tip of her knife pierced into the wooden cutting board after cutting through the carrot. Her posture became stiff, and her facial muscles became taut as she asked, "Who is bullying him?"

Nolan didn't notice this as he was busy trying to think of the best way to break down things to his sister, "You know the big shot Han family living just on the other side of this town? Their family also practices martial arts, though the current generation is involved in the food chain business."

"Hmm."

"Well, Ken is the young master of that family, and he and his friends have been picking on Ethan for the past year."

*Clak!*

The knife in Sui's hand heavily slammed down on the cutting board, even making a dent on it, and the sound started Nolan wondering if she was cutting vegetables or the wooden board.

"Why did you never tell me this before?" Sui calmly asked though her hand was shaking slightly as she continued to apply pressure on her knife, its tip piercing into the wooden board. Uncontrollable yet subtle tremors were passing through her body, especially her face as she asked.

Even though her voice sounded calm, Nolan could recognize how ice-cold her tone was and realized that she was pissed off and hurriedly answered, "I wanted to! But Ethan and I were worried if you would tell his mom, and she might have her health worsen by being worried about him. Besides, he didn't like anybody else knowing what he was going through since he thought nobody could help him. And I feel like he is losing his patience with them and might take them all on tomorrow and get beaten black and blue. This time his mother would definitely get suspicious, and it might not be good for her. That's why I thought maybe you could think about a solution we couldn't think of."

"You were unable to defeat them?"

"If it was just Ken, I could defeat him. But he never plays fair. He uses his friends to gang upon us, and there are around ten of them. Even for me, it's impossible to defeat all of them. Don't you remember that day when I came back with bruises all over me? Besides, even if we defeat them in a fight, it might not change anything. He will just use his influence to bring trouble for Ethan's mom."

"Still, this is why I tell you to train harder. Otherwise, you wouldn't get beaten up by trash kids even if there were twenty of them," Sui harshly reprimanded, making Nolan feel like crying, 'Twenty?! Sis, some sympathy for your poor brother, please…'

Sui stopped cutting the vegetables and washed her hands as she asked, "Look after the house till I come back."

Nolan was taken aback by her words, "Eh? Where are you going at this time? It's like 6 PM."

"I forgot to buy some eggs for dinner. I will be back soon. Lock the gate after I go," Sui said as she wiped her hands and walked towards her room, leaving behind a stupefied Nolan, 'What happened to the eggs I bought yesterday? Did she eat them all so fast? No wonder she is so strong, whew.'

Nolan saw Sui go into her room and lock it from inside, making him shake his head.

Within just two minutes, Sui came out with a small carry bag in her hand, only to see Nolan impatiently waiting outside, making her ask, "What is it now?"

"You still didn't tell me what we should do about Ethan. I mean, shouldn't we be worried about him?" Nolan anxiously asked.

Sui took a deep breath and answered as she pushed Nolan to the side and walked away, "Don't worry about it. I will handle it. I have to go buy some eggs now."

"Handle it? But how…" Nolan mumbled, but he felt as if his sister must have found some way to help Ethan, though he was unable to guess what it was. Still, he knew no matter how many times he would ask her, the answer would be the same.

But he felt as if the air around his sister just seemed to have dropped quite a few degrees.
