Chapter 21 - Student's Birthday

Chapter 21 Student’s Birthday

Wu Yueyue’s father did not have time to spend with her on weekends. The child studied painting at Song Ruyi’s studio in the morning and had piano lessons in the afternoon. She also had two classes on Sunday. Her schedule was packed.

Wu Yueyue was in an even more pitiful situation than Song Ruyi. When Song Ruyi was young, at least her mother had time to spend with her on weekends.

She did not need to take so many interesting classes when she was young just to substitute time with her parents.

Occasionally, Wu Yueyue would attend classes at Song Ruyi’s studio on Saturdays as well. If her father could not find anyone to pick her up at noon, he would call the studio and ask them to spend more time with Yueyue and have a meal with her.

Doctor Wu and Song Ruyi’s sister were both medical workers, hence Song Ruyi would not refuse when he called to ask them for help.

In any case, she had nothing to do for a few hours in the afternoon. Plus, she was used to taking care of children.

Xu Zixuan smiled when she heard Wu Yueyue’s naive words that insinuated Song Ruyi was free to care for someone else’s child.

She was Song Ruyi’s good friend. She did not approve of Song Ruyi becoming someone else’s stepmother. It was difficult enough for a single woman to become someone else’s stepmother. Song Ruyi was also taking care of her child herself. It was not impossible for her to be happy after the reorganization of her family, but the probability was low. In fact, the probability was so low that it was completely negligible.

“If you like to eat them, ask your dad to let me know next time. I’ll make more for you, okay?” Song Ruyi said gently.

Wu Yueyue nodded.

At noon, it was Wu Yueyue’s aunt who came to pick her up. It was also Song Ruyi’s first time meeting the child’s aunt. Before she handed the child over to her aunt, she even called Doctor Wu to confirm the aunt’s identity.

Dr. Wu was especially grateful to Song Ruyi for her responsibility. He said that they did not make the wrong choice in choosing their studio.

Song Ruyi only said that it was what they should do.

After confirming, Song Ruyi let Wu Yueyue’s aunt take the child away.

When Wu Yueyue’s aunt took the child away, she also turned her head three times and kept staring at Song Ruyi.

“Auntie, what are you looking at? Do you also think Teacher Song is particularly good-looking?” Wu Yueyue asked innocently.

Teacher Song and Teacher Xu were both very nice. They were especially gentle to their students. However, when comparing the two teachers, Wu Yueyue liked Teacher Song significantly more.

Of course, there were other children who liked Teacher Xu more.

In any case, in Wu Yueyue’s heart, she felt that Teacher Song was a better teacher. She really wanted Teacher Song to be her new mother.

If her father had to find her a new mother…

“All good-looking women are vixens. Yueyue, don’t be fooled by your teacher’s appearance. Perhaps she treats you well because she wants to seduce your father.” In Madam Wu’s opinion, her brother was extremely outstanding. Many women would want to fawn over him.

Her ex-sister-in-law was foolish to divorce him.

Nowadays, it was not easy to find an outstanding man like her brother.

When Wu Yueyue heard her aunt say that about Song Ruyi, she was immediately unhappy. “Auntie, I don’t like it when you talk about Teacher Song like that. I don’t care. Apologize immediately.” Madam Wu was impressed by this little girl. “Okay, okay. I apologize. I shouldn’t have said such things.”

In order to punish herself for saying such things, Madam Wu slapped herself in front of Wu Yueyue.

Only then did Wu Yueyue give up.

She no longer liked her aunt. She wanted to go home and tell her father about this.

Nonetheless, Madam Wu had something else on her mind.

At 5:00 pm, there were still a few parents of the students who had not come to pick up their children. Xu Zixuan let Song Ruyi go first.

Song Ruyi looked at her watch. After hesitating for a moment, she took her bag and left.

She hailed a taxi home first and changed out of her clothes that had been stained with paint. Then, she took a quick shower and changed into a retro mid-length shirt with black leggings underneath.

Song Ruyi changed into a pair of Doc Marten boots and chose a retro necklace to match the outfit. She even put on light make-up.

Then, she rolled up her hair and fixed it with a hairpin, revealing her smooth and fair neck. She picked out a silk scarf to decorate her neck. The Song Ruyi in the mirror at this moment was completely different from the Song Ruyi who delivered food.

Whether it was her temperament or her looks, they had all been upgraded by several levels, and this was just a simple dress-up. The clothes in Song Ruyi’s wardrobe were all categorized by function.

She had different clothes for different occasions. Song Ruyi could not dress too casually when she was teaching students. After all, she still had to deal with the parents of her students. If she dressed as casually as she usually did when delivering food, the parents would feel suspicious of her credibility and might not be willing to let their children attend her class.

Tonight, her senior year student was someone who lived in a luxurious villa with her parents.

That was why Song Ruyi paid special attention to the way she dressed.

For this reason, she specially bought two sets of clothes to wear when tutoring the kid.

By the time she was done getting ready, it was already 6:00 pm. Song Ruyi took a taxi every time she went there. As there was no direct bus, she had to get off at the nearest bus stop at the entrance of the villa area and walk for half an hour, so there was no time to spare at all.

She went to the fridge to get a sandwich and a bag of yogurt as a snack. She took out her phone and was about to call for a taxi. At that moment, a call came in. It was from her student’s parent, Mr. Li.

Mr. Li happened to pass by Song Ruyi’s neighborhood when he was shopping in the area. He thought about how Song Ruyi had to teach her students at the studio during the day and go to his house to teach his child at night. It was very tiring and time-consuming, so he planned to pick her up.

He had to go home early today as well as he had something to do.

Song Ruyi did not know what to do.

She was hesitant to cause him any trouble, so she initially declined. Despite that, he insisted, so she went down to the lobby.

Song Ruyi went downstairs and got into the car, bringing the high-end fruit basket along with her.

She got into the car and found a double-layer cake on Mr. Li’s passenger seat.

Upon seeing that, she asked, “Mr. Li, is it someone’s birthday today?”

Song Ruyi learned that Li Shuang was living in China with her father at the moment. Li Shuang’s mother was abroad, and she had just finished her college entrance exams. If the girl could get into the best academy of fine arts in Beijing, her parents would let Li Shuang continue studying here. Otherwise, she would have to go abroad.

Li Shuang was like her father. She was not a fan of going abroad and liked to stay in China. Therefore, although Li Shuang was a rich kid, and her parents were people who knew how to earn money, the girl did not take things for granted and was still very hardworking in her studies.

“Today is Li Shuang’s birthday. Teacher Song, after class, she’ll have a few good friends over to celebrate. You should stay and have a piece of cake with her. I’ll send you back after that.”

Song Ruyi nodded in agreement. “Okay, then I’ll give her this fruit basket as a gift.”
