‘Fine. Let’s get married,’ Claire thought. Mr. Jones was right–she would not be at the losing end when she married Asher. In fact, she was in luck.

It should be Asher at the losing end.

However, when Claire was going through the registration process, she could not help but think that this was Asher’s second marriage.

On the other hand, she was a young, blooming flower. Asher’s ex-wife was still outside the bureau refusing to leave.

Claire finally understood. The marvelous gift that Asher was talking about happened to be the red booklet–the marriage certificate.

This gift… was indeed marvelous.

Claire should really thank him.

When they were taking photos, the photographer said, “Can the groom get closer to the bride, please? Smile! Closer please.”

Claire’s face was stiff from smiling. Yet, when she raised her head to look at Asher, he remained expressionless without any trace of a smile on his face.

She suddenly mischievously put her head on Asher’s shoulder, and inched closer to him, pretending to be a shy bride. She then smiled brightly at the camera.

Just when she was feeling pleased with herself, Asher stretched out his hand and circled his arm around Claire’s waist, pulling her toward him.

Asher’s hand was large and warm. Claire felt fire spreading through her body from where he touched her.

Just then, the photographer clicked on the shutter. With just a flash, the photo was done and printed.

Asher withdrew his arm and nonchalantly tidied his sleeve.

He did not say a word to Claire during the entire process.

When they got their marriage certificate, Claire opened the booklet and she wanted to smack herself with it.

Even though Asher did not have any expression, he was still photogenic. She, on the other hand, looked like a love-struck fool with a blank look on her face.

Claire took one glance and shut it tight.

Asher walked past her as though he did not see her at all.

Claire called out to him, “Mr. Kens!”

“You should change how you call me.”

“Oh…”

She responded without knowing exactly what to say. She could not possibly call him Darling, could she? She… She could not do it.

Luckily for her, Asher did not press further. She passed the hurdle successfully.

Asher remained indifferent as he passed the marriage certificate to Ben, and muttered a few words to him.

Claire looked at him and realized that his ex-wife, Susan Mills, was still there.

The look in Susan’s eyes seemed as though she wanted to look through Asher’s head.

When Claire looked at her, she still felt somewhat awkward.

Claire had no idea how to deal with a situation like this, so she lowered her head in an attempt to walk away.

Of course, Susan did not let her go. She noticed Claire at first glance. “Stand there.”

Claire was stunned for a moment, yet she pretended not to hear her and continued forward with her head lowered.

Just how could she bring herself to stop? It was such a typical movie scenario where both the ex and current wife appear in the same place.

Susan did not look like someone pleasant at all.

Asher raised her eyes and saw how Claire tried to escape with her head lowered. A smile appeared on his face.

This girl… was surprisingly good at acting stupid.

When Susan saw that Claire ignored her, she was fuming in anger. She walked up to Claire and blocked her way.

Susan swept Claire up and down with her eyes. “He divorced me because of a homewrecker like you?”

There were no curse words in that sentence, yet Claire felt her dignity being torn to shreds. Susan obviously gained the upper hand..
