205 Deadline

At 8 PM, Will finally became free, and as he saw his girlfriend waiting near his room with a cup of coffee, he smiled even though he was quite exhausted.

It seemed that his thoughtful action of taking her out on that trip had paid off, after all.

However, the moment he took the coffee, he saw Liz's eyes shining with a dangerous light, which made him get a bad feeling.

"I got a clue about the culprit!", she exclaimed, which made him smile and shake his head, realizing why she was so excited.

"Hello to you, too, Miss. Girlfriend," he said before leaning forward and kissing her briefly on her lips.

Hearing this, Liz blushed a bit on understanding that she had done it again: she had let her fixation take center stage, even though she had come here with the primary intention of talking to her boyfriend whom she had missed.

She hadn't been able to help it. After he had sent her a message that his meeting was going to end soon, she had come here to surprise him, but as she was idle, she had gotten to thinking about what the identity of that woman might be, which made her blurt that out when she finally saw Will.

Deciding to show that she missed him through the kiss, she used one hand to hold the back of his head gently before kissing him whole-heartedly for a full 20 seconds, which left him slightly breathless.

Her emotion was clear in her eyes and the actions of her lips, and Will didn't need words to understand it.

"Yes, I missed you, too. What do you say we discuss your clue over dinner? I hear there's a great beachside hotel nearby."

As Liz nodded, Will smiled and ducked into the room to freshen up quickly.

A few minutes later, Liz found herself looking out at a brilliant view of the endless sea, with calm waves lapping the shore which where people could still be seen, unwilling to leave the gentle comfort of the warm sand and cold water.

Will had ordered a simple dinner of lamb chops for him and salmon for her, and as they waited for the food, he finally said, "All right, shoot, You look like you're going to burst if you don't talk."

Hearing him say this with a chuckle, Liz shot a small glare at him before saying, "So…I might have bribed a maid to enter a clandestine meeting those 6 suspects were having…"

"You…what?!"

Unable to believe his ears, Will looked at Liz who had put on a casual expression, as if what she had done was very normal.

Well, it was normal for him, as it was common in the business world to use various schemes to obtain information. However, Liz was someone who had just entered that world, yet she seemed so comfortable in using such means.

"It started like this…"

As she explained everything that had happened, Will saw that she had also been spontaneous, which surprised him even more and made him change his evaluation of her yet again.

Although he had seen her quick wit before, he hadn't expected that she would be this decisive in doing something when there was such a short span of time. After all, this was a trait that was sought after in all executives.

Shaking his head and thinking once again that he was really lucky, Will said, "Let's hear it."

Smiling, Liz handed him her phone, and as he heard the woman's voice, his brows furrowed.

Seeing his expression, Liz hurriedly asked, "Do you know her?"

After pondering for a bit and watching the video one more time, Will said, "No, she's using a voice modulator to hide her voice. I can tell because Keren called me once with a similar tool. Notice how there are no ups and downs at all- it's robotic."

Her eyebrows rising, Liz took back the phone and replayed the video before noticing that he was right.

In her excitement, it seemed that she had missed this crucial point.

Well, her plan of running the voice through a database was definitely scrapped.

"Excellent work, Liz. Now we know that whoever this is, they're using all 6 of those guys to facilitate their plans. At least now, we don't need to waste our time trying to find out who amongst them is guilty. All of them are. What do you want to do now?"

Hearing his praise made Liz grin at first, before a serious expression came on her face after he asked the all-important question. What should their next step be?

Liz stayed silent for a few seconds, assembling her thoughts, and as Will saw her sink into deep thought, he said, "I could use my authority to fire them all, but it would cause a ruckus while also letting the one behind it all escape. But if you want the leaks to be stopped at all costs, we can take this route. It's your call, Liz. We don't even know if they're targeting you or the company now- if its the latter, we shouldn't take any risks. We sh-"

"Give me two days."

A wide smile came on Will's face as he heard this, and he almost looked like he was happy because a plan he had made had succeeded.

"Good. I was hoping you would say that. Nothing like a deadline to push you to use all of your abilities. Good luck, Liz. I'm sure you'll surprise me again. But, please, don't do anything dangerous without at least telling me. Is that ok?"

"Why does it feel like you made me declare that deadline?"

"|Cough| Err…I did nothing like that. I just know that you work best when you're pushed, Now then, shall we eat?"

Seeing his plan revealed, Will coughed surreptitiously and felt happy when he saw the food arrive.

Liz looked at him with suspicion for a few seconds, but she let it go, as she knew that he was right.

After having a hearty meal, they went back to the hotel, where Will bade her good night with a kiss on her forehead, saying that he really needed to crash. He had a lot of meetings over the next two days, too, and although Liz, too, had a lot of responsibilities, she had quite some free time too.

However, when she got to her room, she didn't sleep at once.

Changing clothes, she went out silently, after checking which rooms those 6 were in.
