Chapter 145 - Scapesquirrel

It took only three days for YuJu's body to return to a functional state under the intensive consumption of blood essences and medicinal essences

Using the opportunity he tried having his body absorb the blood on its own but to no avail, it seemed that his theory was either wrong or there was a trigger he didn't know of

Even so it didn't dampen his mood, quite the contrary, he was in a great mood, how could he not when Zero was crushing beast nests left and right without rest the second they returned to hunting, if he didn't know better he would have mistaken her for a berserker

He and Mia barely needed to do anything with her on the battlefield, all thanks to a single skill

"She seems stable so far"

"Indeed, I wonder why she hasn't fallen into madness yet"

Looking at her ripping a dog's head and crushing on its companions he and Mia wondered, revealing the skill's description in their minds to seek anything they might have missed

'Unhinged: Removes any strain on the body caused by excessive exertion at the cost of mental stability, it's the same as I recall it to be yet she doesn't seem to be losing her mind even though she's activating the skill most of the time'

Still it wasn't worrying, they were only at it for a little while now, perhaps she would show symptoms of an imbalanced mind once the skill was overused

That's the same thought Mia shared, both slowly realized how wrong they were over the next few days however as Zero steadily cleared one area after the other, all the way to the last blue area that she could not enter under his orders

"How do you feel?"

"Nothing unusual my Lord"

"I see, hmm"

Many thoughts passed his mind during the couple of days that he watched her rip things apart like she became a beast herself, most prominent of them was the idea that she might have had a skill that prevented mental instability, like Ellis for example, but after asking Mia he realised she only had one unique skill other than her classes' skill set, one that wasn't at all related to their problem

'Speaking of Ellis this skill suits her the most, its sad that I cannot change her stat training method to maybe acquire this skill through the second threshold of strength'

There were so many skills out there it was almost impossible to guarantee that you would gain the one you want no matter what you did

"Should I assist this time my Lord?"

Offered a confident Zero thinking he was contemplating taking her with him to this danger zone

"Here? I'm afraid we will all die if you come"

He spoke lightly yet the danger was apparently much graver than before

"The thing in there is inhospitable nor killable, our best bet is to avoid it entirely"

"Yet we aren't because?"

"Leaving such a threat in this land might cause great problems with all the surroundings cleared, I can imagine some party venturing to this place and angering the ones residing here into a rampage, thus implicating any who are close and causing great unneeded casualties"

He looked at Mia and continued

"I want you to run back and inform me once you arrive at the den, its best your not around when I start"

"I shall, be safe Master"

Nodding to her concerned farewell he watched as they left, it wouldn't be a day before they arrive and send the speedy blood message but he wasn't going to waste the time, might as well use the time to scout any unforeseen problems

So he once more blended into the world around him, stepping onto the unnaturally cold concrete with silent yet carefree steps, seemingly uncaring for the grave danger he warned about

The land on which he strode looked unidentifiable, damaged beyond recognition, it didn't help that he recalled nothing of what this place used to be

But that didn't matter too much for he knew what it was now and what it would become, the birthplace of tyrant, if he didn't interfere that is

"Should've brought a coat"

He complained with chattering teeth, the temperature was below -60 C°, something his improved body was more than capable of withstanding if it had come about due to natural occurrences which was why he was sure of who lived here

Every now and then a white wisp of cold air seeped out of the ground, brimming with icy energy that proved the abnormal climate was resultant of some sort of power, one weaker but much too similer to a certain breath taking beast of both beauty and strength

"I wonder how that thing came out to be from this couple"

He chattered once more, not at all afraid of waking the two winged beasts in front of him

They were very similer to wyvern except that their heads had no eyes nor ears, even their mouths were sewn up, it was their large four meter bodies that housed an open mouth that constantly spewd cold wisps sweeping through the surroundings as well as two currently closed eyes

Switching his focus beyond the ugly duo he saw a bunch of eggs laying in a nest of ice

'I'm going to take a guess and say that the blue one is the little tyrant

It was pretty obvious since it was the only blue egg among a bunch of white ones

He took a slow walk around the area, seeking anything out of place as well as making an escape rout for his plan, one very long escape route

By the time he was done drawing up a map in his mind the red bird came flying at him, sinking onto his palm as it informed kf the three vampires safe return

'Alright, let's get the show started'

Entering the two beasts' area he directly went toward the ice nest, placing a hand over it and storing as large a peice as he could, just before his hand almost froze entirely

His actions did not go unnoticed by the two beasts, their bodies stirring awake as they felt the sudden absence of the elemental energy

Before their drowsy heads turned to look he quickly took the blue egg along another white one, covering them with his energy

"Rawr? Raaaawr!"

What he guessed was the mother instantly snapped toward the eggs direction, seeing two missing among which was their unique child which made her nudge the father in worry while looking left and right for their missing eggs

"Rawr!" "Rawr rawr?"

They both argued, blaming the other for not knowing what happend while they kept searching, all they way till they found a chunk of their nest somewhere further from their residence

Upon coming closer they felt more of the frozen nests icy energy in the direction of the chunk, it was then that they realised something had run off with their eggs, along a part of the nest to boost

"RAAAWR!"

Enraged one of them chased after the trail while the other kept watch over the remaining eggs

"A b-bit c-c-colder than I-I thought-t-t"

His teeth chattered with every word as he couldn't divert energy to keep the eggs' cold wisps fr entering his body since most of it was being used to cover their energy from leaking his position

Sadly he would have to endure for quite some time while his escape route led to the scapegoats he would frame

There was no fear of the beast giving up chase thankfully, the egg was too valuable for it to lose so even after flying for half a day and crossing many other beast's nest which it brought to cold silent death along the way it was still as feisty as when it gave chase

"F-f-final-l-ly"

Even one word proved hard for YuJu at this point, his entire body had turned icy blue already, he should be dead even with an improved vitality, thankfully his four years of living the hell that was the Infidome taught him many ways to circumvent around elemental abnormalities, including the frostbite haunting him now

"Sorry little fellow"

Running up to a little squril who turned hearing a close voice he threw the white egg at it and ran back where he came from

"Chu chu!"

The squirl quickly reacted by bashing the egg with its tail, barely cracking its shell as blue and red fluids started to seep out

The squirl stared blankly for a few seconds, wondering how an egg attacked and thinking it might have eaten a few too many heads lately

"RAAAWR"

It really was weird, you see it was hearing the voice of doom now too....

Sadly that was no Illusion there unmistankenly was a flying behemoth above, seething in rage at what it guessed was its dead child next to its feet

"Chuu chuuuu!"

Warning its kin it retreated as quickly as it could but to no avail, the beast was dead set on turning the entire tribe of squirls into popsicles now
