Chapter 102 - Empty

"Let's see what items it has in store for my own aura"

He mumbled calling the system interface out and pressing on the tickets next to the notifications to use ten of them at once

The gate opened up with a bright red colour seeping out in response

'Not black? I guess they don't have anything for my aura'

Not a big deal, his expectations weren't set high anyway so he used another ten tickets causing the gate to open up once more this time with an earthy brown shine

'It ran out of the last item type already?'

Since the aura type it judged to be closest to the user of the tickets would be taken out first there should be a consistent series in the colour scheme, since the red glow didn't come again it meant it wasn't in the treasury anymore

Using another ten tickets the gate was forced to open once more only this time a wavy white colour came out, the glow was very strong too which caused YuJu to expectantly look on

All ten orbs came out in varying shades of white, one of them had the same wavy white colour of the gate and it glowed the strongest

Under the watchful eyes and YuJu and Ellis the orb soon landed not too further from them and the glow faded to reveal the item within

"A flute?"

Asked Ellis but YuJu ignored the item once he got a glimpse of it and moved onto the next ten tickets

From then on every time the big doors opened he would see a new colour and some of these were a repeat of a few he already spotted during his rolling spree which meant only one thing, it wasn't the treasury that ran out of the item's type but it was him who was getting randoms

'Can it not identify what aura I have because it's a mystery one?'

It couldn't be malfunctioning since Ellis used it just fine so that was the only plausible explanation he could come up with, and honestly it was quite funny

'Even such a well-structured rune building cant figure out what to do with me'

It lightened his mood a bit as he continued the boring spree of 'gambling'

'None of these'

Creek...Creek slam!

'Not these either'

Creek...Creek slam!

'No'

Creek...Creek slam!

'.....'

Four hundred something tickets later he started to get irritated by the creaking gate that refused to give out his much-needed tool, combined with what Ellis pulled out there were over nine hundred items laying on the ground now but they only brought him doubt rather than joy

'It couldn't be that it isn't here right?'

He tried to dismiss such thoughts as much as he could since the information was pretty accurate, guaranteed in fact so how could it not be here, two-thirds of their tickets were gone however giving the potential disaster some chance

Just when his mind began to fear the worst the gate shined with brilliant cyan light, so bright it glared his eyes into squinting

'Finally!'

Ten orbs floated out once more but neither he nor Ellis registered the other nine even though one of them was shining brightly as well, both their eyes were glued to the huge cyan orb that came before them, if it was any bigger he felt it might not even fit out this castle gate

'This isn't it, is it'

The thing he had in mind wasn't anywhere this size

"So what the hell is this?"

There was no recollection of such item in his mind even though it looked like it was going to be something really special

Thankfully he wasn't kept on his tows for the light soon faded revealing the supreme treasure

The first thing the two of them noted were the shimmering scales reflecting light off the closing gate, then the coiled form of this weird thing before finally realizing what it was exactly

"Is that a dragon, Master?"

"Umm, I believe so?"

Answering doubtfully he walked to the coiled up being and inspected its sleeping figure

"There shouldn't be anything living inside though so how.."

While wondering he put his hand on its scales only to find it very cold and hard to the touch, somewhat like metal

"?"

Confused he climbed over the tail of this long dragon and did a one over of its structure, very quickly coming to a realization and sharing it with the still confused Ellis

"This isn't a creature, looks like its a metallic structure, perhaps a golem of some sort"

"A golem? Like the things made out of stone back in that grotto?"

"No, those are Orelic and much like elementals they have souls, even if they look like walking lumps of stone, golems, on the other hand, have no souls, you can think of them like programs that come in various shapes and forms"

Feeling like her horizon was broadened once again she continued to stare at the sleeping beast like structure

"So this is one of those tools that can boost our power greatly?"

"Probably, if we know how to use it…"

That was the biggest issue here

'No, what am I thinking about, the biggest issue is this coming out instead of the other one'

Turning back to the gate and ignoring the dragon he started to use tickets, again

The big treasure coming out kindled hopes of getting what he needed, hopes that dwindled slowly with each random object that came floating to his uninterested self, there were even two more strong glowing orbs, strong as the flute, they weren't what he needed however causing the priceless treasures to be bunched up with the rest of the potential trash

Creek....

"..."

Waiting for the light to fade and seeing another dud he pressed the interface again and looked at the gate, much to his dismay though he realized the gate was not even closed, it remained wide open only this time with no light coming from within whatsoever

"It cant be…"

This could only mean one thing

"The sword isn't in here, but how, I'm certain it originated from this precise Aurascape how could it not be here"

This was far too big a setback to just shrug to the side and let go, so without waiting another second he went straight into the gates to check whether it really was empty or not

Ellis quickly followed behind him into the building

Once inside the redhead was surprised to see an extremely wide space, so wide it dwarfed the land the participants fought on, this obviously didn't fit inside the castle so it made her think whether or not the castle was a spatial storage like the feather or another dimension altogether

It was also not entirely empty, there were glass display cases all over the place in various shapes and sizes with some even hanging down from the roof, a generous guesstimate would be a few tens of thousands

All of them had one thing in common though, they were empty

Walking past the containers the two got to the back of this empty treasury where a couple dozen displays stood out with a colour tinting them, five of these were even separated on a pedestal of their own, two of which retained a soft glow while the other three had dull colours tinging them only

"Master, is that big display where the dragon was held"

The ever-curious Ellis pointed him to one of the special five with the soft cyan glow

"I don't know"

A curt sort answer she received in response but it caused her to hastily shut up, if there was anything she came to know about this Master of her's is his unwillingness to admit his lack of knowledge about something, for him to plainly say 'I don't know' meant he was in such a bad mood he couldn't be bothered to reply

Sure enough, her thoughts were on the mark as YuJu's mind was raging coldly right now, just by looking at the two containers glowing softly he could tell one of them was the dragon and the other must have been the sword, since the glow was still there unlike the other three it only meant his precious sword was taken out during this event right from under his nose

'Well, it's not mine now I guess…'

Losing this precious object before he even set eyes on it caused him to feel empty, almost just as empty as the containers before him
