At night, Shen Qinglan sat on her bed, reading The Count of Monte Cristo. She had taken it from Fu Hengyi’s study before she returned to school. Who would have known that, for someone who had served in the army, Fu Hengyi was into literature.

“Qinglan, our homeroom teacher sent a message to everyone in the group chat today. Have you read it?” After her shower, Fang Tong suddenly recalled the matter as she applied serum on her face.

“She definitely hasn’t. She hasn’t even installed WeChat on her phone, how could she have seen that?” Yu Xiaoxuan stated matter-of-factly.

Fang Tong looked at Shen Qinglan in disbelief, “No way!”

Much to Fang Tong’s horror, Shen Qinglan nodded calmly. Indeed, WeChat was not installed on her phone. When she wanted to contact people, she usually called them on the phone.

“Oh my gosh, Qinglan! Did you come from ancient times?” Fang Tong smacked herself on the forehead, looking disheartened.

Yu Xiaoxuan snickered and continued to tease her, “Is this the first day you met her? When have you ever seen her name in our WeChat friends’ group?”

Fang Tong did not feel like talking anymore. She would never admit that she had neglected that fact.

“What did our homeroom teacher say today?” Shen Qinglan asked.

Fang Tong recalled the matter at hand, “That everyone in class has to look for a two-month internship this semester and write a thesis about it, which we’ll then have to defend. Most importantly, the stamp of the internship unit is also submitted with the thesis.”

“What kind of jobs can Chinese language and literature majors such as us aim for?” Wu Qian exited the bathroom and participated in the discussion.

She was rarely so proactive.

Fang Tong shrugged, “Mostly secretarial, perhaps. I heard that most girls in our class are going down this road, since the homeroom teacher says it’s a professional internship. It’s best we find something that matches.”

“Then, does that mean archaeology majors have to look for ancient tombs to dig?” Yu Xiaoxuan said, horrified.

Fang Tong rolled her eyes at her.

“How about you, Qinglan? What do you think?” Yu Xiaoxuan turned to ask her. “It doesn’t matter if you can’t find a unit that’ll take you. I’ll ask my dad to stamp yours too, since you won’t fail the thesis anyway. I’ve decided to take a road trip for the next two months, and come back for the internship defence.”

Shen Qinglan shook her head, “No need. I’ll check for information online. This kind of work shouldn’t be too hard to find.”

What she did not disclose was that she did not plan to look for any internship. She planned to spend her two months somewhere else, and the timing was just right to settle a certain matter. As for the stamp, her brother could help her deal with it.

Yu Xiaoxuan merely considered Shen Qinglan too shy to accept help, but she would not force her, “Suit yourself. If you change your mind, give me a call.”

Fang Tong’s parents worked for the ZF department. Her father was said to be the leader of the project in Linyi and, because of the outstanding performance in recent years, it was likely he would be transferred back to Beijing the following year; so things like that were a piece of cake for Fang Tong.

The only one left was Wu Qian. Fang Tong and Yu Xiaoxuan’s gaze fell on the girl. Since she actively participated in their discussion, it would not do to neglect her.

“I-I’ll see what I can find first.”

“Anyway, I’ve decided. Ding Minghui told me his company’s looking to recruit a secretary. I’m giving it a try,” said Fang Tong.

“Oh my, what a lovely couple. You can’t leave him alone for one day, can you?” Yu Xiaoxuan talked back at her.

Fang Tong rolled her eyes, rubbing her own face with one hand, “What do you know? Ding Minghui works at Junlan Group, one of the top five hundred companies in the world! Only big shots could get in there, for your information.”

Junlan Group? Shen Qinglan stopped turning the pages. Wasn’t that her brother’s company?

“Junlan!” Yu Xiaoxuan’s voice suddenly rose by several notes as she covered her face with both hands, “Gosh, oh gosh—isn’t that my Prince Charming’s company?”

“What Prince Charming?” Fang Tong asked, confused.

“I’m talking about Shen Junyu, the founder of Junlan Group! He’s the eldest son of the Shen family. He could very well live off his family’s fortune, but he went and started his own business. By his own hand, he managed to turn his small company into a big firm in only five years. More importantly, he’s only twenty-nine this year. Talk about young talent! No, that doesn’t even begin to describe him. Just his handsome face alone is enough to beat the whole lot of male idols in the entertainment circle!”

Yu Xiaoxuan, the hopeless romantic, spoke about Shen Junyu with great familiarity.

For the first time, Shen Qinglan realized that her roommate was one of her brother’s fans.

“Have you met him?” Fang Tong asked with suspicion. She knew about Yu Xiaoxuan’s family—she did not believe that the latter girl knew Shen Junyu.

Yu Xiaoxuan nodded like a little chick pecking at rice, her eyes forming two crescent-like shapes as she smiled.

“That’s a given.” Although she had only seen him from a distance that one time at a business banquet, it was still seeing him with her own eyes nevertheless.

“Is it true that Junlan Group is recruiting?” Yu Xiaoxuan looked at Fang Tong with shining eyes.

Fang Tong crossed her arms in front of her chest defensively, “What are you up to? I’m telling you, I won’t let you have it. You better give up.”

Yu Xiaoxuan rolled her eyes and examined the girl’s chest, “Only Ding Minghui would take a liking to a flat-chested girl like you.” With that said, she proudly stood tall, placing emphasis on her own chest.

“Ah! Yu Xiaoxuan! I’ll kill you!”

Fang Tong screamed and pounced on Yu Xiaoxuan upon being provoked.

The dorm room got into a state of chaos.

Shen Qinglan shook her head cheerfully, then she withdrew her focus and continued to bury her nose in her book.

Wu Qian looked at the scene in front of her with a trace of envy in her eyes.

Then she turned to Shen Qinglan who had gotten back to reading, “Qinglan, are you thinking of sending your resume to Junlan Group?”

“No.” That was her brother’s company. Doing so would be throwing herself into a trap.

Perhaps it was because of knowing she had one less competitor to worry about, Wu Qian heaved a sigh of relief. Although she said she wanted to search online first, in truth she had already got wind that Junlan Group was recruiting, and had submitted her resume. She thought she was the only one who she knew about it, but it turned out Fang Tong knew about it too and had decided to apply. Now, in addition to that, it seemed that they had a third contestant.

“Aye, Qinglan. I’ve just realized, you and my Prince Charming share the same surname. Maybe you two were family five hundred years ago,” Yu Xiaoxuan suddenly spoke as she lay down on her bed, gasping for breath.

“Maybe we are now.” Shen Qinglan glanced at Yu Xiaoxuan and spoke of it lightly.

“Qinglan, you’re really more suited to tell lame jokes,” Yu Xiaoxuan rolled her eyes.

Apparently, no one in the dorm room took her words seriously.

Shen Qinglan shrugged. No one believed the truth in that day and age.
