Chapter 126: Flu & Truce. 1918 CE

In an isolated hall, Thena and Pluto were helping those who were affected by the Spanish flu. They were resting on the side of the hall for a little bit, watching as other nurses and doctors helped the patients who were dying.

“Never really thought about it… but, humans are quite fragile…” murmured Thena. “An outbreak like this caused them so many deaths in the span of a year…”

“Well, they’re not like us.” Pluto shrugged. “I mean, we’re robots, we can’t get diseases, well, except Mahd Wy’ry I guess, but that’s a bit of a stretch also.”

Thena hummed as she stood up from the chair. “Let’s move to the west after this.”

“The west?”

“The US.” Thena answered. “Nobody knows us there.”

“There’s Ajak.”

“Then don’t live near her.” Thena shrugged. “Live in New York maybe, I heard it’s quite lively there.”

“You sure?” asked Pluto again. “There’ll be a lot of trouble there.”

Thena chuckled. “Like I said, it's quite lively there.”

Pluto just shook his head in amusement as he also stood up. Then, he heard the radio on the corner of the room suddenly started to speak, bringing news from outside.

“The Great war had ended.” said the voice from the radio, making the room silent, listening to the news. “Representatives from the participants of the war are now travelling to Versailles, where they will discuss the repercussions of the war. The German Empire and their allies had lost.”

Pluto hummed, and he saw the rest of the men inside the room continued their doing, quite happy about the news, but Spain is a neutral country, while economically they were damaged, war didn’t come to them, well, they are dealing with worse things right now.

“It is also said that a representative of the Zimera Kingdom will also come to Versailles.” the news continued. “Following the attempted attack of Portuguese Mozambique by the German Empire, the Zimeran army had reinforced the treaty of London and pushed the German army with ease. It is not known however what they will do at the international conference. However, there are rumours that there will be a separate meeting about another matter, about an international association that governs and builds international law.”

As Pluto and Thena heard that, they just hummed and continued their work in the hospital.

[A year later]

Thena and Pluto were walking to the Port of London, moving their things to emigrate to the US. with them, they brought the maids and butlers from the countryside, they also brought some of their collection that they have gathered so far, and they chartered a ship to go to the US.

Pluto walked through the port as he saw a man reading a newspaper, with the headline of “LEAGUE OF NATIONS, SHOULD THE SIMIANS JOIN?”

He sighed at the title, and continued towards the ship he chartered. He greeted Thena who was dealing with the moving of things and arranging the maids’ and butlers’ room.

“Anything more dear?” Pluto questioned.

“No.” she said. “All clear, we can depart now.”

Pluto smiled. “Good.”

All of them then entered the ship, Pluto leaning against the deck railing, admiring the sight of London for one last time before moving away from it.

“You’re going to miss it?” Pluto asked Thena about it.

Thena scoffed. “Not a chance… all those dresses… all those formal meetings…”

“Well, we probably still have that in the US.” Pluto chuckled. “But not too annoying like in here I guess.”

“You already bought a house there?”

Pluto hummed. “Upstate New York.”

Thena frowned. “Really? Upstate?”

“Well, it’s quiet, or would you prefer the city itself?”

“At least it’s a bit more entertaining.”

“Fine, I’ll buy a plot of land in the city too.” Pluto hummed. “I’m thinking of buying more land to be honest, for steel factories, or maybe some gold mines too in the west.”

“Do what you really want… I don’t really care about money…”

The ship then moved from the port, the smoke coming out of its cylinder, tainting the air around them.

Pluto felt the breeze of the sea, inhaling it softly as he calmed himself down.

“We’ll be busy in a couple of years…” Pluto stated. “Need some buildings and managing to do, then, we can relax a bit.”

Thena held his hand, and put her head on his shoulder. “Fine by me…”
