Chapter 108 - More Problems

There were a lot of things he wanted to clear up, but he probably wouldn't be forgiven. Ehione accepted that fact, hardly an omega forgives the alpha if he decides to have more than one mate.

Of course, polygamy wasn't a crime, but it was hardly practicable in the current Age. First, because of the territorial emotions of the new genders, which generated many conflicts and possible cases of violence.

There were healthy polygamy relationsh.i.p.s, but that would require a great deal of detachment from those involved, in addition to not being able to mark the other part, which was very difficult for Alphas in many cases, especially in the heat of the moment.

Healthy polygamy relationsh.i.p.s took place mainly between Betas who didn't have a strong need to be marked or to mark the other party. Sometimes between omegas too, as between them there was no need to marked themselves, plus their emotions were less volatile when they got involved with the same gender, but it was still rare for omegas to get involved with polygamy between them.

Ehione and Nubia Madaki's marriage was political, yet he had more children with this woman, though Nehand didn't blame her husband or demand more from him, when Ehione chose Olaniyi Jang to be his companion when he retired, that was the last straw for Nehand.

Ehione wondered a little whether or not he should talk to Nehand about the past, he was now with Olaniyi Jang and was relatively happy, he felt calm with her. Of course, he wondered again how he had liked Olaniyi so much in such a short period of time, as it was near the end of his mandate as emperor, but he couldn't remember how it happened or why he elevated the woman for the position of Talented Concubine.

"Why can't I remember anything before declaring my willingness to marry Olaniyi? And then when I raised you to be a talented concubine? My childhood sweetheart? I don't remember, but they all say the same thing..."

Ehione started to question himself, he didn't remember Olaniyi in his childhood or adolescence, where did these rumors come from?

Ehione's head started to hurt a lot until he had to call the doctors to press the room button. Just before the nurses arrived, Ehione lost consciousness which caused even more turmoil and Gyasi had to leave Mu Liang with Chen Qian, who had recovered well after a day's rest, and Chong Ji who was tired of worrying about Prince Mu, to go see what had happened to his father.

On the other hand, Emery just woke up in an unfamiliar room, he stretched feeling every part of his body a little sore. He looked around the luxurious room that exuded a masculine aura in every part, he took a deep breath catching the scent of Ade's pheromones.

He felt more reassured as he smelled Ade's scent all over the place, but he would never admit that to himself. He felt awkward, mostly, with the pain in his waist and his groin still a little hot.

"Here drink some water" Ade suddenly appeared carrying a pitcher of freshwater. Emery looked at the tall black man, his snow-white hair was messed up and his clothes were badly put together. Strangely, Emery found this very appealing.

After drinking some water, Emery was kissed on the forehead by Ade.

"I'll have to leave now, an emergency has come," Ade said looking tenderly into Emery's midnight blue eyes.

"It's not like I'm going to run away in these conditions," Emery said being sarcastic, he felt his body so weak and he was so comfortable in bed, he would just roll over and sleep some more.

"Then we'll see you later," Ade said with a bit of laughter as he saw Emery roll his eyes and cover himself with the blanket again, boldly ignoring the emperor.

He went back to lie down and wrap himself in the blanket, he was still very tired and didn't even care that he was in an unfamiliar place. As a mighty Titan, what could he be afraid of?

Ade also received the news of his father's fainting, he had to let his omega sleep in the room, leaving two trusted imperial guards to keep the room safe.

"How is our father doing?" Ade asked as soon as he arrived at the hospital. Gyasi was sitting outside waiting for the test results.

Unfortunately, Chewe wasn't working at the time as he had to return to Duke Azikiwe's mansion, after the terrorist attack in the palace's inner garden, their uncle was too worried about his son and would keep him within the family's territory for some time. 

"The doctors said it might be the shock of seeing our mother in the regeneration capsule, but they went for tests anyway to make sure... The problem is that there is something wrong with the tests" Gyasi said rubbing between his eyes. He felt the last few days had been a kind of personal hell.

Was it some punishment for him being happy with his mate?

Ade was also worried, first the terrorist attack in his inner garden, then the escape/kidnapping of Prince Mu and his mother, now their father could be in a different danger, the only good thing about all this was finding his own destined omega.

"What is that smell? Why are you smelling the white dragon hybrid?" Gyasi asked suddenly. Emery's perfume was all over Ade's body, who had to leave his omega sleeping in his room, didn't have time to clean himself properly when he received the news about his father, so he was still smelling the scent of Emery.

"I found my omega," Ade said very seriously, he didn't want to tell too many people for now, as there still has to be a deep investigation into Emery's past, as well as not wanting to put the other's life at risk.

However, he wasn't going to hide it from his younger brothers or his trusted people, especially, he couldn't hide it from Gyasi who was involved in all the mess of arranged marriage to generate a crown prince.

Gyasi was surprised by the fact at the same time that he was happy for his older brother and for himself. Now he could go back to his mission and yet he had found his destined mate as well, they could live without worrying about having children or the imperial power.

"Mu Liang will be happy to hear about it," Gyasi said after congratulating his older brother.

"Don't get happy so quickly, you know what will happen when the news gets out" Ade said with concern, but he was helpless.

"I know things are going to get tough" Gyasi agreed and his joy diminished considerably.

Before they could continue the conversation, the medical team arrived and brought them the bad news.

"Your Excellency was contaminated by a mind control worm, by the research we did it must have been at least ten years or more than the worm was in the emperor's body," the doctor said very seriously after they greeted the emperor and their general.

"What?" Gyasi and Ade said at the same time, they couldn't believe what they heard. Their father had been contaminated with such a worm during his last years as emperor, which made it all the more frightening.

"Did you manage to remove the worm?" Ade asked containing his numerous questions of how, why, and when, he first wanted to know about his father's health.

"Don't worry, emperor. We've already done the removal and now it's undergoing body cleansing. We will watch and wait to see if there will be any sequels" another doctor replied when he saw their emperor agitated.

"Now tell us what a mind control worm can do and how could my father have been contaminated with such a thing?" Gyasi asked after hearing the good news.

"It can be placed through blood. For example, if the emperor has a cut, just put some worm eggs nearby and they will enter the system, only one can survive and it binds to the host's mind. The mind-control worms work like colonies, they have a queen and whoever has control over the queen can control the victim contaminated with the queen's eggs." the biologist who was on the medical team as a consultant began to narrate the cycle of mind-control worms.

For this type of worm, the host having very strong emotions makes the worm more aggressive which causes great conflicts between the host and the parasite, which makes the retired emperor faint.
