Chapter 130 - It’s My Business Now (1)

“You’d better give me a reasonable explanation for this.” Yan Cheng knew that Ah Tai would never call him unless there was something urgent he needed. He picked up the phone and closed the door, walking towards the living room window.

His beautiful peach blossom eyes were slightly narrowed as he looked over the scenery outside with a straight face.

He could vaguely hear some muffled noise from the other end of the phone.

Ah Tai took a long breath and was silent for a moment before saying calmly, “Boss, Zhou Chao is dead.”

Who knows if it was because of the wild road that Ah Tai was on in his early years, getting him used to seeing certain things. So, he was calm as if he was just facing a dead fish when he informed Yan Cheng of Zhou Chao’s death. If possible, he may even wonder whether he should braise or steam the fish.

And his boss was no different.

When Yan Cheng heard what Ah Tai said, his first reaction was: None of my business!

In fact, he really does say that.

There was not a hint of aggression in his husky, tired voice.

He was already cut off from this group of people who liked provoking people when they were bored. What’s more, he was just someone insignificant. Whether they were dead or not bothered him none in the slightest. “Ah Tai, when did you get so interested in gossiping?”

It was a bright night out with the moon and countless stars dotting the sky.

Yan Cheng raised his head in a bad mood, looking at the flickering lights. He suddenly thought of waking up Chen Jinyao to watch the stars with him.

“…” Ah Tai was still thinking about how to say what he wanted to say, but it ended up being taken as if it were just a joke. There was no need to ease him into the topic, he just laid everything out on the table. “Boss, Zhou Chao came to Er Pavilion before he died.”

Yan Cheng frowned. He moved his phone to his other hand and pressed it against his ear. Pursing his lips, he did not speak.

The night sky outside felt like it was adding some color to its surroundings.

It was clear that the sun was going to rise in another two hours.

Ah Tai said with a solemn face, “The police came over to get the surveillance record videos. Zhao Chao came alone, but he left with a woman in his arms.”

After a pause, he continued, unperturbed, “He died in the bed of his own apartment. Yes, he did enjoy himself before he died. From what Officer Deng says, the killer may be the woman Zhou Chao left with that night.”

“Dying in the hands of a woman, huh?” Yan Cheng yawned lazily, clearly still not aware of the severity of this problem yet. He was not interested in these things and even wanted it to end sooner.

If he could, he’d want to say “if you don’t have anything else to say I’m hanging up” and stuff like that.

Clearly, that wasn’t a possibility.

As Officer Deng gradually became cold and had impatience flowing out of his eyes, Ah Tai finally began to touch on what he was going to say. “Since this is a murder case and the last woman to interact with Zhou Chuan happened to leave from the Er Pavilion, Officer Xing wants to have a word with you.”

There were several seconds of silence. Ah Tai raised his eyes and met the eyes of Officer Deng.

He said mildly, “Oh, to be more precise, they would like to invite you over to cooperate with them in the investigation.”

Yan Cheng, “……”

This time, the sleepiness was completely shocked out of Yan Cheng’s body.

That is because the need for him to “cooperate” meant he was being involved directly and no longer just part of the audience.

His face darkened instantly and he released his displeasure without any concealment.
